00:00Well, Italy was really one of the places where he really began his career, and one of his
00:06earliest films was Rocco and His Brothers, which was made in 1960 with Lucchino Visconti.
00:14And from there, he went on to make the famous Leopard film, The Leopard with Visconti in
00:21Sicily.
00:22And his co-star in that film was Claudio Cardinale, and she has already spoken out today saying
00:29she's overcome with sadness at his death.
00:32She said in a moving tribute, the dance is over, and referred to the name that he had
00:39as the role when he played that role, Tancredi, and she said that Tancredi has risen to dance
00:46with the stars.
00:48So moving tributes coming out from the Italians today.
00:51We also saw another one from Ottavio Piccolo, who starred in a film, a French film with
00:57him in the 1970s.
00:59And she said that the criticism that he had faced was really unfair, that he was a great
01:03professional and she remembered him with great affection.
01:06All right, Josephine, and you've been watching some of his old TV interviews from Italy.
01:11They're a bit of a blast from the past.
01:15That's right.
01:16I think they reinforce what a screen idol of, particularly of the 1960s, the 1970s that
01:22he was.
01:24Many questions about his love life.
01:26And we're seeing that again on tributes on the web today, on social media.
01:31Many people saying he was not only the most beautiful actor that we've ever seen, but
01:37he was one that was known for his love of women and his many affairs.
01:44And that was also seen in these TV interviews where they were asking him how many loves
01:49he had had in his life.
01:52So more attention on his private life than actually his film career.
