00:00The surging presidential campaign of Kamala Harris has caught the self-assured Trump camp
00:06absolutely flat-footed.
00:09And like a punch-drunk boxer, they are flailing at anything and everything, hoping to land
00:16a punch.
00:17But none of it, none of it has to do with policy.
00:22The Trump camp and their right-wing media stooges have only one game plan, only one
00:27strategy, name-calling.
00:30They want to find the worst nickname to bring down Harris.
00:34And it's worked before, just ask Meatball Ron, but it ain't working no more.
00:40We're going to see just how badly the Trump team's name-calling strategy is backfiring.
00:47It's not only missing the mark, but it's actually converting conservative evangelicals to vote
00:53for Harris.
00:54And the specific slur that's bringing down hellfire on the Trump campaign?
00:59DEI candidate.
01:01Here's just a small example of how badly that term is hurting Trump, not Harris.
01:08I said it's our black job to keep a white supremacist out the White House.
01:15Elections are all about consolidating your base and swinging independent voters to you.
01:21Ronald Reagan was the zen master of this game.
01:25Not only did he bring evangelical voters who used to stay home on election day into the
01:31same tent as Wall Street investors that they hated, but Reagan also siphoned off blue-collar
01:38workers in such large numbers, you would swear he promised free beer instead of union busting.
01:47Trump's team is taking that play right out of Reagan's playbook, and astutely, with almost
01:54surgical precision, doing the exact opposite.
01:58Bring in the blue-collar workers, well, okay, Kid Rock and Hulk Hogan showed up, and then
02:04the fake hillbilly as VP, you know, the venture capitalist who's all about finance and union
02:10busting just as much as Trump.
02:13Vance is mired in controversy, not just the cat lady comment, but the fact that this campaign
02:19is based on racism and his wife is not white.
02:24His own base is complaining that his wife is not white, and his defense of her has been
02:32laughable.
02:33That woman is preying the campaign tank so she can get a divorce.
02:38Vance is so mired in controversy that he can't even get up off the couch to address it.
02:45And with Project 2025 and the white nationalism that supports it, the Trump camp is starting
02:51to lose some evangelical voters, not all, not even a significant number yet, but in
02:59elections you can ill afford to lose even a small percentage of your base, especially
03:06a key demographic.
03:08Why do you think Trump was dangling Tim Scott as a potential VP?
03:13Because he wanted to entice black voters in Detroit, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and Atlanta.
03:20If Trump could peel off only 10% of the black vote in all those cities this time around,
03:27he wins by a landslide.
03:30Trump garnered 20% of the black vote in 2020, which is surprising because he's so racist,
03:37but like any demographic, there are social and economic conservatives in the black community,
03:43and they voted for Trump, who lost by very small margins in those battleground states
03:49with large black urban populations.
03:53This campaign should be doing everything they can to get 25% of the black vote, and they
03:59would coast to victory.
04:01Instead, they are doing just the opposite by trotting out the DEI candidate slur against
04:08Harris, and it's working, only not in the way Team Trump imagined.
04:15Listen to this conservative Baptist minister and what he thinks about calling Kamala Harris
04:22the DEI candidate.
04:24On Kamala becoming the presidential nominee, I'm going to confess, I wasn't too happy about
04:36that, but I'm all in now.
04:41I'm 100% now for this reason.
04:48This representative from Tennessee, sorry Connie, from Tennessee, he called her a DEI
05:01candidate, and then they start calling her colored.
05:08Then they start calling her out of her name, and as a black man, I can't let no white man
05:17talk about no sister like that, and I'm not take offense to it, because who is more disqualified
05:33than Donald Trump, and Republicans are all in, because he is the avatar for their grievance.
05:44How qualified does a black person have to be?
05:49Graduated at the top of her class at Howard, went to law school, was attorney general of
05:55a state, a United States senator, a vice president of the United States, but she's not qualified?
06:06I'm all in, because I'm not going to let any white man tell me how I ought to feel about
06:13a black person.
06:14Stony the road we've traveled.
06:21Well Democrats, can I get an amen?
06:23Because a congregation that is anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ plus ain't exactly a blue church,
06:31and yet there's a lot of amens going on there.
06:35Pete Buttigieg has been an integral part of this campaign, becoming the champion of Kamala
06:41Harris, confronting Fox News, confronting all the myths, but as masterful as Buttigieg
06:49has been, he can't hold a candle to this pastor for calling out Donald Trump and the Republicans
06:58in general for this insult to Kamala Harris.
07:04What he demonstrates so clearly is that Trump and his stooges have so masterfully gone to
07:11the core of black identity and stomped on it.
07:16There's some conversion going on there, but not the kind Republicans are thinking of.
07:21Trump and the Republicans have been using DEI as a way to demean people of color and
07:27women for way over a decade now.
07:31Not only that, but they live in their right-wing media bubble and are out of touch with any
07:36other views.
07:38Like those pesky Black Lives Matter people.
07:41I mean, after all, don't those people realize all lives matter, especially blue lives?
07:50Unless of course we're involved in a violent insurrection to seize power, and then we can
07:54crush as many blue lives as we deem necessary.
07:59So Republicans are so comfortable tossing around DEI as a swear word that they have
08:05completely lost sense of how it can bite them right in the golden diaper.
08:11Let's tally.
08:14Alienates women.
08:15Check.
08:16Alienates black people.
08:18Check.
08:19Alienates evangelicals.
08:22Nah.
08:23Only what this conservative Baptist minister makes clear is that a large portion of church-going
08:30black people are evangelical.
08:33They believe in Jesus, but they also believe that we live in a racist society that is in
08:40need of downright salvation.
08:43They follow Jesus because they believe in a fair and just society.
08:49How clueless can you be thinking you can get black evangelicals to believe in white nationalism?
08:58And as this pastor demonstrates, you can ignore the white nationalist racist groups
09:04as fringe until you start appropriating their language and promoting a vision of white nationalism
09:12as the official vision of the Republican Party.
09:16And the worst part is that conservative black evangelical voters are the demographic that
09:22contributes mightily to Team Trump's 20% of the black vote.
09:28As they say down south, you done gone and done it now, Trump boy.
09:33And the other thing they say down south is, what you gonna fix that with, son?
09:39Knowing Trump?
09:40More insults.
09:41After all, this is the man who followed his father into real estate by discriminating
09:45against black people.
09:47Well, not to worry, Trump.
09:50Maybe Omarosa can save you.
09:52Oh, that's right.
09:54She's farred.
09:56I'm Anthony Vincent Gallo for Occupy Democrats.
