00:00Setting out his caretaker government's priorities in front of diplomats and UN representatives,
00:05Muhammad Yunus pledged continued support for the million-plus Rohingya refugees
00:10sheltering in Bangladesh.
00:12We need sustained efforts of the international community
00:17for Rohingya humanitarian operations and their eventual repatriation to their homeland,
00:23Myanmar, with safety, dignity and full rights.
00:29Most of the country's Rohingya refugees fled neighbouring Myanmar in 2017
00:34after a military crackdown in Rakhine state,
00:37which the UN said was carried out with genocidal intent.
00:41In recent months, violent attacks on communities of the Muslim ethnic minority
00:45have continued to trigger displacement as the country's military junta and the rebel
00:50Arakan army battle for control of key cities in the province.
00:55The Arakan army raided our village and killed many people.
01:01Some 60 people in my village were killed.
01:03Some people took refuge underwater in a canal nearby.
01:07Some of them died as well.
01:09We couldn't count the bodies.
01:12According to the representative of a panel of displaced Rohingya,
01:15this refugee camp in Cox's Bazaar has seen over 50,000 new arrivals in recent weeks,
01:21though the figure couldn't be independently verified.
01:24While access to water and sanitation in the camps has improved,
01:28overcrowding is putting further strain on resources.
01:31In June, Doctors Without Borders reported almost 20 per cent of refugees in the camps
01:36have an active hepatitis C infection, though there's not enough treatment to go round.
