00:00Our koalas are threatened, they have recently been upgraded from vulnerable to endangered
00:08due to a number of reasons, obviously climatic issues like floods, droughts, fires, but also
00:16due to human interference, development, habitat disappearing at an incredibly drastic rate.
00:24I'm out in the field with Ina and Maria from Friends of the Koala.
00:28They're checking on wild koalas in the area for signs of disease or injury.
00:32A clean white bum and clear eyes are two of the main signs of a healthy koala, while a
00:38wet dirty bum and red eyes are both signs of chlamydia, a disease that's ravaging the koala
00:43population.
00:44There's one there.
00:45You can see the rump is white.
00:46And that's good isn't it?
00:47And that's great, that means it hasn't got clinical signs of chlamydia and the eyes are
01:02clear and bright, have no junk around them or red.
