00:00So Ivan, for us to do the health checks, we need to catch the devils, and we have these
00:06specially designed traps that we use to catch them, so we can, you know, handle the devils
00:12and examine their pouches and examine the health of the individual, you know?
00:17They look like pretty simple, but I'm assuming very effective.
00:22Very effective traps.
00:25How many are we going to put on here, mate?
00:27We're going to put 10 on, and like most traps, especially carnivores, we just put a little
00:31bit of meat in the end, and that's all we have to use.
00:57So, just unlatch your cable that's at the top end of the trap, pull the cable up, you've
01:04got your meat with a little bit of string, you tie it onto the loop that's at the end
01:09of this cable here, tie it on like that, and then we pull the cable all the way up here.
01:15Oh, cool, I get it.
01:16And then you clip that there, like so, and then this sits like that's there, like that.
01:25And then this guy goes through in here, into the hole.
01:31Once you've got the cable hooked up, back up here, you push that through the smaller
01:34hole on the actual door, and then that's your locking pin, which draws back with the rubber
01:38band.
01:39So as that guy pulls the meat, that pin's going to come out, this is hopefully going
01:43to drop.
01:44Yep, and so as it rolls around in there, this will just end up locking, and then we've got
01:50ourselves a devil.
01:56Well, it's last light, these Tassie devils are going to be wandering around tonight,
02:09this is one of their feeding stations, we're going to end up with 10 baited traps in this
02:13area, and hopefully tomorrow morning, a few Tassie devils.
02:18Now for our first devil.
02:24It's a little one, it's last year, Joey, by the look of it, so do you want to have a go
02:28at this?
02:29Yeah, tell me what to do.
02:30So pop that there.
02:31Yep.
02:32Keep that nice and tight.
02:35Take it off the ground so the devil doesn't hit it when it pops in, up higher, give it
02:38a shake.
02:39Yep.
02:40There she goes, she's in the sack.
02:41Pop that bottom down, I've got this, yep, good job.
02:45Well, this is a sack full of devil, right?
02:47I feel like we've done that before.
