00:00So, I just got out of a breakup.
00:02Okay, I'm sorry to hear that.
00:04No, no, no, it's okay. I just got out of a breakup
00:06and I think like unfortunately,
00:08not unfortunately, it was just part of
00:10what had happened in my life.
00:12It was something that me and my ex,
00:14we chose to make it something public
00:16because we worked together before.
00:18So, I feel like unintentionally, a lot of people
00:20knew that we were
00:22friends and had kind of like
00:24taken our characters and hoped that
00:26it would be realized
00:28in real life. And so, when we actually
00:30did end up together,
00:32we decided mutually to make
00:34that something that was public.
00:36And after that, obviously it didn't work out
00:38and we decided to go our
00:40separate ways. But in a healthy way, you know,
00:42like there's no fighting, there's no argument,
00:44there's no war. It's not like...
00:46You didn't go to court, all the courts.
00:48Why do I have to go to court?
00:50I don't know.
00:52In this season, you always go to court,
00:54you want to go to court, you want to go to court, you cry,
00:56you're just like this.
00:58Sembang atas dulang with Sedy.
01:00If you want to go on a vacation,
01:02don't forget to maintain hydration.
01:04I have chosen Spritzer mineral water
01:06and Spritzer sparkling mineral water.
01:08Rich in silica and other minerals,
01:10Spritzer ensures you
01:12are always hydrated
01:14wherever you go.
01:16So, let's go on a vacation with Spritzer.
01:18Hi, meet us again in the
01:20Sembang atas dulang podcast with me,
01:22Sedy. The third season brought
01:24to you by Spritzer.
01:26Hydrate yourself with Spritzer mineral water
01:28throughout your vacation.
01:30Spritzer loves vacations.
01:32I love vacations.
01:34And speaking of vacations, don't we all love vacations?
01:36And I have the queen
01:38of Sembang,
01:40Studio Sembang. My show is Sembang atas dulang.
01:42She is a host
01:44and the queen of Studio Sembang.
01:46I thought you were going to say the queen of vacations.
01:48I was like, yes, true.
01:50Don't we all want vacations?
01:52At this point, we just want vacations.
01:54But, of course, I have to properly introduce.
01:56So, she is an actress.
01:58I call her queen of rap
02:00because of her appearance in one show.
02:02She is also an amazing
02:04host of award-winning
02:06podcast called
02:08Studio Sembang.
02:10And this show is, maybe,
02:12copy a bit from her concept?
02:14Eh, no.
02:16But her studio is more cozy.
02:18Amelia Anderson is in the house.
02:20Hi, guys. Hi. Thank you for having me, Sadie.
02:22Actually, for you guys.
02:24Oh, wow. Suddenly, I take over for a while.
02:26But I have a story for you.
02:28Not for you, because you already know this story.
02:30It's a story for our viewers now.
02:32Actually, Amy forced me to invite Amy to this show.
02:34Actually, I've been begging Sadie for three seasons.
02:36Sadie, when do you want to invite Amy
02:38to come to your show?
02:40And I always say, actually, I don't really like
02:42inviting her to my podcast show.
02:44Actually, there's a reason.
02:46Because
02:48what we talk about
02:50is too PNC.
02:52It's too classified.
02:54We can't share it on the podcast.
02:56So, on this show,
02:58we have to
03:00filter a bit.
03:02And there are certain things that we really
03:04cannot spill out there.
03:06And our private conversation is usually the best.
03:08True.
03:10But for the sake of the show
03:12and also our dear clients
03:14here, we're gonna
03:16have a lot of fun.
03:18We are. For sure.
03:20So, first things first.
03:22Because the title of my show is
03:24Semangat atas Dulang,
03:26we're gonna chat while we eat something
03:28in the Dulang.
03:30Okay, what is it?
03:32So, we're gonna unveil it together.
03:341, 2, 3, come.
03:36I do the gesture.
03:38Char Kway Teow!
03:40How did you know? It's one of my favorites.
03:42Is it really your favorite though?
03:44Where is the best Char Kway Teow you've tried?
03:46That is not in Penang. Klang.
03:48Huh? Klang has the best Char Kway Teow?
03:50Are you for real? For real.
03:52I'm from Klang. Okay.
03:54Got fishcake or not?
03:56Depends.
03:58Depends. It comes with
04:00fishcake, but you can order it without if you don't prefer.
04:02I eat my Char Kway Teow with fishcake.
04:04What is this abomination?
04:06I'm so sorry. To me, I'm so sorry.
04:08For Char Kway Teow lovers,
04:10I'm sorry, I'm a bit gatekeep.
04:12Fishcake cannot exist in Char Kway Teow.
04:14Why? For Penang Char Kway Teow lovers,
04:16usually we don't have
04:18fishcake.
04:20But maybe Klang's is different.
04:22If you want to eat Char Kway Teow
04:24with fishcake, come to Klang.
04:26Yes, we can walk around.
04:28We planned it for so long, when are we going?
04:30It's like a food road tour, yeah.
04:34The thing about you is,
04:36you're the queen of vacation.
04:38If I look at your Instagram,
04:40where else do you go for vacation?
04:42Depends.
04:44But it's mostly for work, to be honest.
04:46Even if I'm on vacation,
04:48I don't really work.
04:50Okay, so the thing is,
04:52people always see
04:54Amelia Henderson's life as
04:56glamorous.
04:58She appears in this
05:00country, she's posing
05:02this and that, she's always so glamorous.
05:04But, what is
05:06the real Amelia Henderson's
05:08life like?
05:10That is my
05:12real life too, actually.
05:14I'm quite a workaholic, which I think
05:16a lot of people already know. So, most of my life,
05:18I spend my time working.
05:22Actually, it's what I prefer.
05:24But in my free time,
05:26I spend a lot of time
05:28actually at home.
05:30By myself or with my friends who
05:32come over to my house. But rarely, actually.
05:34Going out and hanging out is not
05:36something I can commit to.
05:38We've come to a point where
05:40even if you want to hang out, you have to make an appointment, right?
05:42A little. It's not that bad.
05:44Sometimes, spontaneously, if my friends will
05:46text me, they're like, hey, what are you doing now?
05:48Then, I'm like, okay, let's go.
05:50Usually, work is kind of like
05:52a full-time thing. And I'm sure you can relate as well.
05:54You're also a very, very, very busy person,
05:56which is a great thing. And busy is very good.
05:58So, it becomes more challenging.
06:00But obviously, there are pros and cons to everything.
06:02So, we can't complain.
06:04We don't complain. We're actually grateful.
06:06And speaking of hanging out,
06:08one time, I hung out with her
06:10going on 6 o'clock meet-up until 12 o'clock.
06:12Until the shop was closed.
06:14If not, we would still be there until tomorrow morning.
06:16That would be a conversation
06:18from the 3rd to 5th season.
06:20Because our conversation
06:22is so hot.
06:24Unfiltered.
06:26It was good.
06:28It was a good session.
06:30But since then,
06:32what are the developments?
06:34Okay, something that we need to touch on.
06:36That day, you put a very
06:38cryptic tweet.
06:40You said something along the lines of
06:42social media makes you feel like people
06:44think they know you.
06:46Basically,
06:48I just
06:50got out of a breakup.
06:52I'm sorry to hear that.
06:54I just got out of a breakup.
06:56And I think, unfortunately,
06:58it was just part of what had happened in my life.
07:00It was something that
07:02me and my ex, we chose to make it something public.
07:04Because we worked
07:06together before.
07:08A lot of people knew that
07:10we were friends and had
07:12kind of like taken our characters
07:14and hoped that it would be realized
07:16in real life.
07:18And so, when we actually did end up
07:20together, we decided
07:22mutually to make that something that was public.
07:24And after that, obviously,
07:26it didn't work out.
07:28And we decided to go our separate ways.
07:30But in a healthy way. There's no fighting.
07:32There's no argument. There's no war.
07:34It's not like...
07:36You didn't go to court.
07:38Your life is peaceful.
07:40I'm trying.
07:42Controversy is looking for me.
07:44That's true.
07:46Nothing to do with me also.
07:48After the breakup, I think a lot of people
07:50might not be used to
07:52to see people go
07:54separate ways without there being some sort of
07:56stigma attached to it.
07:58There wasn't. So, a lot of people were
08:00taking sides and trying to find out
08:02between me and my ex,
08:04who was wrong.
08:06Which, I don't know.
08:08For me, firmly, I believe that in any situation,
08:10if you had a conflict with someone,
08:12you cannot just sit there and point fingers.
08:14Obviously, in extraordinary circumstances,
08:16maybe you can.
08:18But in terms of my situation
08:20and how I like to handle things,
08:22and I think I speak on behalf of Adi as well,
08:24it's a bit private.
08:26Even I didn't know they were dating
08:28during the...
08:30That's how private they are.
08:32She doesn't even talk about it.
08:34Because there's nothing to say.
08:36So, when it ended, I feel like it's the same thing.
08:38If a close friend of mine
08:40really wants to know what happened,
08:42then I don't mind talking about it.
08:44But on camera, it feels super disrespectful
08:46to the love that I have for this person
08:48slash had for this person
08:50and to the time that we spent together
08:52and to our future friendship
08:54that we both want from each other.
08:56So, I'm not about to disrespect
08:58anybody like that and put them on blast on camera.
09:00Because when we work in the entertainment industry,
09:02there's a lot of response that comes when you open your mouth.
09:04So, you always have to be careful
09:06with how you say and how you carry yourself
09:08as a direct representation of who you are
09:10as a person.
09:12You can't let your emotions,
09:14whatever anger or upsetness,
09:16speak instead of your brain.
09:18That's right.
09:20To the fans who's trying to find out
09:22who's right and who's wrong,
09:24you guys are not in a situation where
09:26actually sometimes it's not
09:28who's fault in particular.
09:30Sometimes things just don't work out.
09:32And really, it's not your relationship.
09:34It's just a joke.
09:36I saw some tweets about you like that.
09:38Amelia Anderson, this is so true.
09:40There's a dead white person who's still alive.
09:42I don't know what to say about that.
09:44People just think they know you.
09:46Yeah.
09:48I saw a few poses on social media.
09:50They're like, oh my god, I know Amelia Anderson.
09:52She's a dead white person.
09:54Yes and no.
09:56Yes and no.
09:58I think in the sense that people,
10:00on one hand, they do kind of know me.
10:02Many times in my life,
10:04the people who support me the most
10:06or have validated me
10:08in my career
10:10have been an audience of people who
10:12have never met me before.
10:14So, I'm super grateful for that community.
10:16The people who support us with AD,
10:18they were super supportive of the both of us.
10:20And so, that's a really lovely thing.
10:22But in terms of knowing me
10:24on a personal level,
10:26that's an impossible thing.
10:28That's an impossible thing for people who have never met you
10:30in real life to gauge.
10:32So, it is what it is.
10:34And fun fact,
10:36if you see influencers, content creators,
10:38celebrities who always overshare
10:40their personal life,
10:42you don't really know the real them.
10:44You know, you all have to remember
10:46that what people want to share
10:48is what they want you to see.
10:50100%.
10:52And I think coming from you, that's even more powerful
10:54and important because you're so much better at social media than I am.
10:56Yeah, yeah.
10:58100%. I use
11:00social media as a tool
11:02but I don't have the natural skill,
11:04flair and talent that you have.
11:06So, coming from you, I think that means a lot.
11:08What's wrong with her?
11:10She keeps lip-syncing millions of views.
11:12But, let's be honest,
11:14I didn't have to build my
11:16social media profile from scratch
11:18through content creation.
11:20I would never be able to put myself in the same bracket
11:22as a content creator
11:24because I feel like
11:26that takes a lot of work. You have to really understand
11:28the landscape of social media
11:30and things like this.
11:32Remember, we have to pray to our God's rhythm.
11:34Yes, I love this.
11:36I have to pray for our God's rhythm.
11:38I still love this joke though.
11:40So, things like that.
11:42I think content creators are really great
11:44in terms of understanding their audience.
11:46For me, I'm an actress.
11:48So, those who follow me
11:50or keep up with what I'm doing on social media,
11:52mostly they know me from my work on TV.
11:54So, my marketing comes through
11:56traditional media, not really digital media.
11:58I'm trying to catch up but honestly,
12:00my attention span is very short.
12:02So, I do TikToks for like a week and then I disappear.
12:04Then after that, all the videos that she makes,
12:06even though it's short,
12:08it's a hit.
12:10People are like, oh my gosh, she's so pretty.
12:12Until people nitpick.
12:14What you wear also becomes an issue.
12:16Oh, yeah, yeah.
12:18I was so shocked that
12:20you see how powerful you are.
12:22You don't have to stir controversy.
12:24Controversy is looking for you.
12:26Is that
12:28upsetting? Is that a good thing?
12:30I don't know.
12:32How would you perceive that?
12:34I think I'm a very polarizing person.
12:36From my experience and I think most people
12:38will feel the same.
12:40For me, in terms of my demographic
12:42and the responses that I get
12:44from people, it's very polarizing.
12:46In the center, there's a group of people
12:48and this is the majority and this is what
12:50I choose to focus on and what I choose to appreciate
12:52and be grateful for that really love me
12:54and support me so much.
12:56On the flip side, there's a group of people that will never
12:58understand me, don't want to understand me
13:00and have decided that they are going to be
13:02against everything that I do before I do anything.
13:04But for me
13:06and I think for everybody who has a social media platform
13:08the most important thing is that we are completely detached
13:10from feeling like we can be in
13:12control of other people's opinions of us.
13:14It's not a reflection of you.
13:16No wonder I asked her, I said,
13:18do you get affected by your comments?
13:20I don't read my comments.
13:22Oh no, I read.
13:24She reads everything.
13:26But she would never call herself a content creator because
13:28your life does not depend on social media.
13:31Everybody's life nowadays depends on social media.
13:36Have you seen the marketing that the
13:38corporate professionals are doing?
13:40I'm like, wow, we need to take notes.
13:42We have to take notes.
13:46For me, it's not that I don't read it.
13:48I do whenever I can because I think sometimes
13:50it's quite entertaining.
13:52But I choose not to take anything
13:54that I read negatively into my heart
13:56because
13:58how does that help me?
14:00Has any comment actually
14:02hit you?
14:04Like struck a nerve
14:06and you're like, oh wow, I'm affected
14:08by this.
14:10Okay, I'll give you an example.
14:12So usually for me,
14:14people will call me a lot of things
14:16because they cannot tell whether I'm a man or a woman.
14:18Especially my dressing or my voice.
14:20So I'm very used to that.
14:22But
14:24it comes to a point
14:26that
14:28you can say, I don't know whether you're a man or a woman.
14:30That one is okay.
14:32I've got used to it. But there was one time
14:34one particular comment really
14:36like, oh wow,
14:38the person wrote it in a way that
14:40I can feel the passion of
14:42hate.
14:44Actually, I don't know if you're
14:46a man or a woman
14:48because
14:50you are ugly as both.
14:52I would never see myself
14:54dating someone as a
14:56weird creature like you.
14:58When I saw that,
15:00I was like, okay, fine.
15:02I get it that I'm not
15:04your cup of tea or whatever. It's okay.
15:06But to degrade
15:08me to a creature
15:10that referred to me as a creature,
15:12that really, wow.
15:14What did I do?
15:16Nothing, to be honest.
15:34Do you know, sometimes like
15:36something yang agak terkejut kan
15:38pasal orang yang boleh comment macam tu.
15:40Do you know how much energy it takes to sit there?
15:42It was a long essay.
15:44Jangan percaya apa yang dia cakap.
15:46Because they're obsessed with you.
15:48No, but they really are.
15:50The line between benci dan sayang
15:52is a very thin border.
15:54Can you imagine this person?
15:56We don't know this person. They don't know you either.
15:58Tapi berdasarkan apa yang you post di social media,
16:00they spent that much time in their life
16:02writing that out, looking,
16:04reading, being like, no, let me make this worse.
16:06Let me try to hurt him.
16:08They gave you that much time in their day.
16:10They love you.
16:12It's so confused.
16:14That's not a reflection of you at all.
16:16Not a reflection of you at all.
16:18And it's so savage and mean
16:20and unnecessary and cruel.
16:22And you have every right to have feelings as a person.
16:24And if I was in your position, I'd be really hurt too.
16:26But at the same time, it is a type of like,
16:28what is going through this person's head?
16:30Nothing but obsession for you, babe.
16:32I remember she was so sweet.
16:34She defended me because I was on her show
16:36last time.
16:38And then I did comment,
16:40this famous celebrity fan.
16:42Eh, me,
16:44I work very hard also. I also have a little status.
16:46Even though I'm not an A-list,
16:48at least I'm on the list.
16:50No, but it wasn't that.
16:52For me, the reason I really wanted you on my show
16:54at the beginning is because I think you have such a
16:56strong personality, such a strong voice.
16:58You are so brave. And I thought that when I looked
17:00at your work ethic, I was like, okay,
17:02I think this person
17:04is somebody who spends a lot
17:06of time committing
17:08to their dream. And I like
17:10interviewing people like that because there's normally a lot
17:12of things that you can answer because you are putting in the work
17:14on a daily basis. You have gone through the rejection,
17:16but there's also success at the same time.
17:18And there must be a lot of learning
17:20behind the scenes that you can share because of your
17:22position to help people out there.
17:24And so that's why I was like, I'm dying to have a
17:26conversation with you. And I didn't even know you.
17:28And I was like, please come on my show.
17:30Amelia Henderson wants me to be on her show?
17:32Of course.
17:34I would do it again.
17:36I was like not having it when people were
17:38questioning why. I was like, well,
17:40if you haven't watched the episode yet, just say so.
17:42Because if you watched it, you'd know why.
17:44It's a lot of fun. Probably more
17:46fun than some of the guests she had.
17:48I said it, it's not her.
17:50And that's the tea.
17:52Because I...
17:54Today we don't have tea, we have spritzer. So let's drink some
17:56spritzer while... Perfect. Are we going to eat this
17:58char kway teow?
18:00The udang is looking at us
18:02and be like...
18:04Oh, sorry.
18:06Oh, cutlery.
18:08I was just thinking we eat char kway teow with hands
18:10or what?
18:12The udang is looking at us like, are you going to eat us?
18:14Or what?
18:16Do you know why the prawn took up most
18:18of the plate?
18:20Why? Because it was shellfish.
18:28Yeah, you're welcome.
18:30I'm...
18:32I'm stunned. Okay, while we're on the subject
18:34of shellfish, where do fish
18:36deposit their money?
18:38Which bank do fish deposit their money?
18:40In the sea bank?
18:44I'm scared, Sedi.
18:46No, they go to riverbank.
18:50See, I was so close. That's where I was
18:52trying to head, you know. But the current
18:54was too strong. I couldn't make it there.
18:56Oh my god! I should have known.
18:58I've met my match.
19:00Okay, just eat char kway teow.
19:02Sometimes, do you feel like
19:04people just want to misunderstand you on purpose?
19:06No, but I think that social media
19:08has kind of like cultivated
19:10a very
19:12me-centric narrative.
19:14You know, so when we scroll, and sometimes
19:16I'm guilty of this too, right? So when we scroll
19:18on social media, sometimes we'll see a content
19:20and we'll feel like, oh my god, I don't agree with this person.
19:22However, every perspective has its own
19:24audience.
19:26So when somebody's making a video, I
19:28am of the mentality
19:30that if it's not for me, and I don't like what they're
19:32saying, I scroll. Because I'm like, there must be an audience
19:34for this content, and that audience is not me.
19:36I don't know how they can reach my FYP.
19:38They prayed really hard to the algorithm
19:40that they can reach here. But it's not for me,
19:42so I move on. You know what I mean?
19:44But a lot of people who get offended or
19:46take things personally is because they are on their
19:48FYP and they believe that the content
19:50is curated for them. And so when they
19:52disagree, they're like, I don't think this is right.
19:54And then they're called to
19:56share their alternative perspective. Sometimes
19:58this is a very good thing, because you can start a narrative
20:00about things that people are passionate about, and you
20:02can open space to discuss
20:04with people who have different
20:06opinions than you. And sometimes that can
20:08lead to growth for both people in the conversation.
20:10But most of the time, if you're
20:12leaving something negative on social media,
20:16I mean, if it doesn't change your life, I don't understand
20:18why people do it. What does
20:20that bring you? And honestly, if you don't like
20:22the content and you keep commenting,
20:24you will keep seeing more.
20:26That's why people, sometimes
20:28they will say, oh, I'm commenting more to see more of
20:30the ghost talk,
20:32because I am a,
20:34my FYP is Mohantu.
20:36But that's how you make, like, you know how they say
20:38on social media, you're making the wrong people
20:40famous? Yeah. Yeah, it's because you don't like the content,
20:42and then you share it, you press the share button
20:44with all your friends, and then it becomes viral
20:46and then they're going to be everywhere.
20:48And then suddenly they become a million-dollar co-star.
20:50Huh?
20:52Example. Because sometimes they get too famous
20:54and then, you know, some production team
20:56will be like, you know what? In defense
20:58of my co-stars. Most of them. They're not like that.
21:00Really nice. They're not like that.
21:02Example. I said example.
21:04Like, suddenly you see somebody famous. You see them on, like, TV
21:06or something, right? And then suddenly, oh, wow,
21:08this person has a show now. Wow.
21:10Yeah, yeah, yeah. And they can't act
21:12alongside
21:14Queen of Acting.
21:16And then they cannot host
21:18alongside her and me.
21:20Hahaha.
21:22I don't know.
21:24If you're viral once or twice, you'll become a hoax,
21:26you know? But, well,
21:28I mean.
21:30So, we know you as actors.
21:32We know you as an actor.
21:34But a lot of people also
21:36should celebrate you as
21:38a host. You also host
21:40events. You were on
21:42some, we know you were on TikTok Awards.
21:44Yeah. As a host.
21:46Gempak and all.
21:48So, actually, how do you separate
21:50yourself
21:52from all the big names
21:54out there as a host?
21:56I don't know, man. I don't think I can do
21:58that. I don't want to do that.
22:00That's not my intention. I think, like, in
22:02Malaysia, right, we have such an exceptional
22:04pool
22:06of hosts. Yes.
22:08Especially if you look at the hosts,
22:10like the people that I look up to,
22:12for example, Zizan.
22:14He is so good.
22:16His brain is so sharp. He is
22:18so fast.
22:20There's no way I would ever be
22:22stupid enough to want to be
22:24standing in the same row as him. Another one,
22:26for example, Kalina.
22:28Sherry.
22:30These are people that I've gotten to work with.
22:32Radin also. People I've gotten to work with. Sean.
22:34You. Like, brains sangat
22:36tajam that I think that the
22:38best thing that you can do is focus on yourself.
22:40Do you know what I mean?
22:42They're so good. They're in a class of their own.
22:44I'm not saying that you have to compare
22:46yourself, but
22:48you said that our hosting
22:50is very
22:52diverse. Super diverse.
22:54Lina has her appeal.
22:56Kalina has her appeal. Sherry has her own appeal.
22:58Like, what is Amelia Henderson's
23:00factor? I have no idea.
23:02That's really for my clients to figure out.
23:04I have no idea. I think, like, for me,
23:06I think it's always, like, a personality-based thing,
23:08right, Teddy?
23:10Masing-masing akan ada personality masing-masing
23:12and sebenarnya, as a host, that's what you have to let
23:14shine, and that's what kind of, like,
23:16differentiates you.
23:18I do a lot of hosting, and Amy memang minat sangat
23:20hosting, but
23:22primarily, predominantly,
23:24I'm an actor.
23:26Who also hosts.
23:28I don't know.
23:30She sings.
23:32She still won't.
23:34She still won't.
23:36Does not sing.
23:38Unless it's, like, in front of Teddy.
23:40She does not sing, but she raps.
23:42I do rap. I rap for Astro Gempak,
23:44mainly. Like, every time there's a Gempak Most Wanted,
23:46then you will see me rapping.
23:48I told you, it was so good. I was watching
23:50the rehearsal. You know, I left
23:52Gempak after y'all did
23:54the opening. I'm like, you know what, I'm out of here.
23:56The performance, that was the only one
23:58I wanted to see.
24:00Thank you so much.
24:02Nola, it was honestly kind of scary.
24:04Super scary.
24:06But you nailed it!
24:08Yeah, it was Eminem.
24:12I rewrote his lyrics, though.
24:14Because I was like, I'm not doing Eminem's
24:16proper lyrics. It was good.
24:18And like I said, I left. The reason
24:20why I left Gempak Most Wanted was
24:22because I felt so out of place. Why?
24:24Oh, you didn't know? No.
24:26Kadang-kadang event macam ini kan, they
24:28try to incorporate
24:30the mainstream artists like yourself, and then
24:32they put some influencers there.
24:34Sometimes, they
24:36don't really... like, a lot of people
24:38don't know who we are.
24:40We influencers,
24:42when we were there, they're like,
24:44what are you here? And it was
24:46very awkward because when
24:48the floor manager, he was trying to hype up the
24:50crowd. So when they were showing
24:52some actors, some actresses, like
24:54John Todd, they're like, oh my gosh, so-and-so
24:56is here! And then people were like,
24:58and there was one time the camera panned to
25:00me, you know. Then they were like, oh, Sadie is here!
25:02It was almost crickets.
25:04I was like,
25:06oh, damn, y'all don't know me. Okay, I'm out
25:08of here. Ooh!
25:10I felt like that.
25:12And the thing is, just now, we
25:14mentioned about content creator
25:16is actually a difficult thing.
25:18You know, you have a lot of respect for content creators.
25:20A lot of respect. Sad to say, the industry
25:22don't really celebrate us. So much
25:24so that there was one time, oh, this is
25:26tea, real tea. There was an event
25:28that I went to, and I was
25:30in the same elevator with this
25:32mainstream actress,
25:34right? So, I mean,
25:36not like I want to be in the same... I mean, she didn't do anything
25:38to me, for the record. She walked
25:40out. So when she walked out, there was some
25:42photographers, cameramen
25:44there. So when they saw her, they're like,
25:46oh my god, it's that...
25:48the name? Come, come, take photo, take photo.
25:50The lorong was so sempit.
25:52It's just me and her. You know what they did to me?
25:54You...
25:56Like, just go away, just go away.
25:58I'm like, I was
26:00invited as well to the event, and you
26:02treat me like this. There's still
26:04no respect for us.
26:10Can I be brutally honest with you? Yes!
26:12There's no respect for anyone at the beginning of their careers
26:14or in a position where people don't feel like they've
26:16earned respect for you. And that's like facts.
26:18And I know it's savage, and I know it's horrible, and it's hard,
26:20but to be honest, every single one, including
26:22that celebrity who people were taking pictures of,
26:24has been through it. Yeah, confirm.
26:26I will tell you for a fact that at the
26:28beginning of my career, I've been in some situations
26:30that if anyone tried to put me in them now,
26:32I would leave. But at the time,
26:34I wasn't respected enough, and I
26:36wasn't established enough
26:38to
26:40have people treat me like a human being.
26:42It's true.
26:44And this happens to everybody.
26:46So basically, in our
26:48industry in Malaysia, we have
26:50various types of people
26:52from various different backgrounds.
26:54And unfortunately, what that means is
26:56whilst it helps in terms of diversity,
26:58we add colours
27:00to our industry at the same time.
27:02Sometimes we split
27:04our demographic.
27:06For example, we have a demographic that likes
27:08to watch or listen to podcasts or
27:10entertainment in Malay.
27:12We also have a group that
27:14likes to listen or watch stories.
27:16Menengok.
27:18Whatever, in English.
27:20And then Chinese, Indian,
27:22all kinds of people.
27:24This is one of the biggest strengths
27:26of working in Malaysia because
27:28as an entertainer,
27:30we learn so much
27:32from different people, different cultures that will
27:34help us in our industry.
27:36But unfortunately, what will happen is
27:38sometimes there are
27:40a few Malaysians
27:42who don't know who we are.
27:44When I first started in the industry,
27:46when I first came back,
27:48it wasn't like everybody remembered who I was
27:50as a child. And there were so many situations
27:52where I felt like, okay,
27:56you're not allowing me to take up
27:58space in the room in the way that I
28:00feel like would be supportive
28:02of the position you've given me.
28:04For example, hypothetical.
28:06You gave me
28:08the opportunity to be this actor
28:10but you don't give me space to say
28:12how I want to carry this role.
28:14So you push me and you pressure me
28:16because I'm younger or smaller or
28:18not established enough into doing things
28:20in a way that's inauthentic to me that therefore
28:22makes me look stupid on screen because I'm carrying
28:24things wrongly.
28:26Who I am, right? But this is like
28:28a rite of passage for everybody.
28:30And I think like when I thought when I was
28:32much, much younger and I was first starting, okay,
28:34I'm going to prove all of you people who never
28:36believed in me from the beginning that one day
28:38I will achieve
28:40my dream to be an established actor
28:42and then you watch.
28:44If you want to be my friend in the future
28:46I'm going to remember this like how you
28:48stepped on me.
28:50When I continued
28:52growing in my
28:54career in the industry, I got to a point where
28:56quite a few of these people who had said
28:58mean things to me or had been horrible
29:00to me like circled back
29:02around and
29:04tried to
29:06rewrite the narrative as if
29:08we were like always.
29:10This is the circle of life for everybody.
29:12The way that I choose to approach it now
29:14is I let it go.
29:16I totally let it go and it sucks because
29:18sometimes I'm like, ooh, I want to be petty
29:20about it. But the reality is
29:22sometimes we can't absorb
29:24what people say to us
29:26or the way people treat us. Sometimes
29:28if they're not so nice to us,
29:30maybe there is a reason
29:32behind it in the sense of they
29:34feel like they're also in the same position
29:36in their own respective field that
29:38they need to fight to be noticed as well.
29:40So, they will give time to
29:42the person they think is most important to
29:44improve them. And at that point, it wasn't
29:46me. So, you know what, fair.
29:48I get it.
29:50Actually, to me, for my situation, I don't
29:52really want them to take my picture. I don't need.
29:54Yeah, but don't need to be rude about it.
29:56Yeah, like shush, shush.
29:58Honestly, the best. This has happened to me
30:00too. To you?
30:02Yes.
30:04I'll tell you a story. You want a story of how
30:06I first started or how I came back into the industry?
30:08Or we're spilling some tea today.
30:10Yes. Only Sadie is going to be able to get these stories
30:12out of me, I swear. So, when I
30:14first came back to the industry as an adult,
30:16I had already worked as a child. And to be
30:18honest, this is like one of my insecurities.
30:20Even until now,
30:22I think my father was worried that I
30:24wouldn't be able to reach the level
30:26of success that I had as a child.
30:28And so, when I came back into the industry,
30:30I didn't actually
30:32know as many people as people thought I did.
30:34But I decided,
30:36in terms of acting, I wanted to really hold my
30:38acting career and try other things first.
30:40Because acting takes a lot of time.
30:42And if I started with acting, there wouldn't be
30:44time to try to be a host in English
30:46or to explore the field of fashion
30:48as a model. So, I decided that I wanted
30:50to start with hosting.
30:52And I was working actually at Astro,
30:54on Astro Radio, and then I was on Astro Super Sport.
30:56And at the same time, I was doing hosting
30:58for live events. I'm not going to mention what
31:00live event, but it has to do with
31:02fashion. And so, I was one
31:04of the very first hosts. I got the
31:06opportunity to host,
31:08not the fashion event, but something
31:10associated with the fashion event.
31:12And it was a wonderful opportunity, and I'm still so grateful
31:14for that opportunity. But when I started
31:16there, there were so
31:18many times where
31:20I would go to these events
31:22that had something to do
31:24with this fashion event, and nobody would speak to me.
31:26I would be completely
31:28like, oh my god.
31:30Firstly, I'm the youngest here. Secondly,
31:32I don't have a clout.
31:34Nobody would
31:36talk to me. And I would go to the toilet,
31:38hide in the toilet, and call my mother and be like,
31:40what am I doing? Why am I here?
31:42I feel so unwanted,
31:44so uninvited, out of place.
31:46Probably exactly how you felt
31:48at that event, because I'm like, nobody
31:50seems to even see me.
31:52And then
31:54I look back at it, and I'm like,
31:56but look at me now.
31:58It's not even about that.
32:00At first, the stages
32:02of it, when I look back at it, I was like, yeah, look at me now.
32:04Like that, right?
32:06And then the more I thought about it, I was like, actually,
32:08this is
32:10such a cutthroat industry,
32:12that people's negativity
32:14and then the way that they treat you, sometimes
32:16is a product of their environment.
32:18Maybe they're also experiencing
32:20a lot of anxiety towards the situation.
32:22Everybody is scared of each other in this industry.
32:24It's so sad, right? We go to events, and it's like,
32:26hi, babe. Hi, babe. How are you?
32:28Nobody wants to let that guard down, because
32:30everybody's position in this industry
32:32is like hanging by a thread.
32:34We all serve
32:36the audience. But now she is the
32:38face of the events, and then you go there,
32:40she is the face there.
32:42But to be honest,
32:44that took so long,
32:46and that took so many tears behind the scenes
32:48that nobody wants to know.
32:50And it's just
32:52part of the process, and you cannot
32:54allow yourself to take it personally, because
32:56sometimes it comes from
32:58other people's lack of security in themselves.
33:00It's got nothing to do with you.
33:02When I look back, sometimes I think about it.
33:04Did I make people uncomfortable? Was I too eager?
33:06Did I try too hard?
33:08Did I want it too bad? Did I make myself look
33:10so stupid?
33:12And people didn't take me seriously? And then I think about it.
33:14Honestly, they didn't have time to spend so much
33:16time thinking about me.
33:18They were all thinking about themselves.
33:20And that's what it's about. So when anybody
33:22throws any type of negative energy towards you,
33:24or is mean-spirited,
33:26or whatever, it's got nothing to do with you.
33:28They did not spend any time
33:30thinking about anything outside of their own
33:32perspective.
33:34Wow, I got chills.
33:36This is like the wise woman.
33:38I'm talking to a 70-year-old
33:40wise woman.
33:42Sage, please.
33:44My only point is, I'm really sorry that you
33:46had to go through that. We've all been there.
33:48I hope you don't feel alone in your experience.
33:50No, I'm better
33:52because more opportunities are coming in
33:54from me. Grabbing it.
33:56You have to. People say,
33:58you're everywhere.
34:00But you work so hard for it.
34:02Of course you are.
34:04Opportunities don't come by like that so
34:06frequently. I hate
34:08to say this. I work, even though
34:10I was so sick for the past few weeks.
34:12But I have to talk over
34:14and also I have to down cough syrup
34:16to get to work.
34:18That is superstar behaviour.
34:20Superstar but not
34:22encouraged.
34:28Disclaimer from my app. If you're sick, you take a break.
34:30I won't. I just won't.
34:32You can take a break. If you're sick, you take MC.
34:34I cannot take MC. I won't. She won't.
34:36She will still go to work.
34:38So scared to say
34:40anything.
34:42I'm about to be ruined for this. If you're sick, don't go to work.
34:44But I would do it. But that's my opinion.
34:46That's my opinion too. You don't have to follow me.
34:48I don't have to follow our lifestyle. It's different.
34:51We're about to get cancelled.
34:53We're about to get cancelled after this.
34:55Hardcore. But what is the
34:57next upcoming project that you're working on?
34:59An album?
35:01No album.
35:03I have three movies that are going to come out. One is coming out this year.
35:05Hari Maumulaya.
35:07I think it's coming out this year. I don't know. We're already behind schedule.
35:09I don't know when they're going to release it but supposedly
35:11this year. And then next year, I have two.
35:13I have
35:15Blood Brothers.
35:17I don't know
35:19what order these are coming out.
35:21We got Blood Brothers.
35:23Blood Brothers is a movie.
35:25I just finished shooting.
35:27The team is still working on it.
35:29They're not done shooting because they've got
35:31all of the very strong abangs doing some
35:33very strong, very cool-looking
35:35fight scenes. The action is so cool.
35:37Are you fighting?
35:39You guys have to watch it and see.
35:41I already asked my question.
35:43Usually what I ask is, do you die in your shows?
35:45But I don't ask anymore.
35:47Will you be in action?
35:49Also won't tell.
35:51So stay tuned for her movies.
35:53Her upcoming album coming out.
35:55She won't have an album. She keeps saying no.
35:57But she will be in movie series.
35:59Unless you do the song with me.
36:01Do you know Sadie?
36:03A recording artist.
36:05Have you guys gone on Spotify and found his music?
36:07Because he'll talk about other people's music and other people's talent
36:09but he won't talk about himself.
36:11No, because it was a flop.
36:13That's why I'm going for vocal classes.
36:15It's not a flop if the right people
36:17haven't heard it yet, babe.
36:19That's why we're going to do marketing for Sadie's album.
36:21Go look him up on any audio.
36:23Is it not there? It's there.
36:25You showed it to me.
36:27I'm taking it out.
36:29Why are you doing that?
36:31Because I have a plan for music career but
36:33I want to do it properly this time.
36:35But you got to include it in the album.
36:37You have to.
36:39It's iconic.
36:41It's super iconic behavior.
36:43Before he accidentally takes it off or something.
36:45By the time you guys see this video,
36:47it's over.
36:49Okay, I got to let you go before you keep yapping
36:51about my non-existent music.
36:53Okay.
36:55Stay tuned for the next episode of
36:57Pokal Sembang Atas Dulang
