00:00Surah Al-Qasas
00:07This is mentioned very clearly in Surah Al-Qasas.
00:10Musa Alayhi Salaam is a child of Banu Israel.
00:14So he is from Banu Israel,
00:16but however he's raised in the house of Fir'aun.
00:20So he's raised in the house of Fir'aun
00:22amongst the people of Fir'aun.
00:23Now we know the story that he goes in the marketplace,
00:27there's a man from the people of Fir'aun,
00:30who is in an argument with a man from Banu Israel,
00:33Musa's people.
00:34Now Musa Alayhi Salaam is constantly struggling
00:37with this whole dilemma,
00:38of a man of Banu Israel
00:40living amongst the king and his people.
00:42So when he sees this,
00:43and the man from Banu Israel sees Musa,
00:45and he knows Musa's got a soft spot
00:47for his people, Banu Israel.
00:49Musa, Musa, look what this guy is doing to me.
00:52So Musa Alayhi Salaam intercedes,
00:54he steps in,
00:55says, what's going on here?
00:56Hey, what's going on here?
00:58The man says, hey, move along,
00:59mind your own business.
01:01Gets very rude and abrupt,
01:02and starts getting aggressive,
01:03starts getting in Musa Alayhi Salaam's face.
01:05And I would say, somebody gets up in your grill,
01:07somebody gets up in your face,
01:09so you have no choice but to kind of defend yourself,
01:12push somebody off.
01:14So Musa Alayhi Salaam does that,
01:15he says, back up buddy.
01:17فَوَكَزَهُ مُوسَى فَقَضَعَ عَلَيْهِ
01:19But what ends up happening is the dude dies.
01:22And the man dies.
01:23Musa Alayhi Salaam doesn't realize his own strength.
01:25فَقَضَعَ عَلَيْهِ
01:26The man is dead.
01:28That's an incident from his life,
01:30that's a detail.
01:31This is before he became a prophet,
01:33this is long before that.
01:34But it's mentioned in the Quran.
01:36There's actually a lesson here.
01:37This is relevant, this is pertinent.
01:39And the relevance of this incident
01:42to the message here
01:44is that Musa Alayhi Salaam committed
01:47unintentional, accidental,
01:50but nevertheless what was judged amongst the people
01:52where he lived in at that time to be a crime.
01:56He was a convicted criminal amongst the people.
02:00Unintentional, accidental,
02:02but nevertheless the people saw it as a crime.
02:04In his earlier age he committed that crime.
02:07Later on in life,
02:10he's made a messenger of Allah.
02:13And then he sent back to those same people
02:17to go and bring them the message from Allah.
02:21Go and deliver the divine message to them.
02:24In the dialogue between Allah and Musa Alayhi Salaam,
02:26one of the first things he says is,
02:28وَلَهُمْ عَلَيْهِ ذَنبٌ
02:30He even says,
02:31Allah, you're gonna send me back to Fir'aun and the people?
02:34I'm a criminal there.
02:37I owe them some form of retribution.
02:40I'm a criminal there.
02:41I'm wanted over there.
02:43You're sending me to them?
02:44Okay, so he's already hesitant
02:46because of that previous past crime.
02:48Allah says, no, you still gotta go.
02:50And when Musa Alayhi Salaam walks into the court of Fir'aun
02:53and says, I'm here with the message of Allah.
02:55You need to believe in one Allah.
02:57You need to let Banu Israel go.
03:00What's the very first thing Fir'aun says?
03:04Hey, aren't you that guy?
03:08وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ الَّتِي فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ
03:13Very sarcastically.
03:15Aren't you the guy that did what you did
03:18back when you did it
03:20and you were really bad person?
03:23That's what he points out, right?
03:25So that worst fear is realized.
03:28It contributes to the message
03:31in a deeper fashion and manner
03:33where there's a powerful lesson to be extracted.
03:35And that is, that's going to happen a lot.
03:39That's going to be a very common occurrence.
03:41That somebody previously,
03:43some point in time in their previous life,
03:46they will have done something bad.
03:48They will have done something not so admirable.
03:51They committed a crime, they did something bad.
03:53And not only did they do something bad,
03:55but the people will know that this person was the dude who did that.
03:58He's the guy who did that.
04:00They'll know that he was the one.
04:02And so he'll have that bad rep amongst his people.
04:05But somewhere down the line,
04:07there will be a major turning point in his life.
04:09Like in the life of Musa A.S.
04:11He was never a bad person,
04:12but he had that one little incident in his past.
04:15And the major turning point, what I mean is,
04:17he went from being a normal ordinary individual
04:19to being a messenger of Allah.
04:21So same way in our society, in our communities,
04:24there will be people sometime in the past in their life,
04:27they will have done something bad.
04:29Then they'll have a turning point in their life
04:31where they'll turn things around.
04:33And then they will come back wanting to do something good,
04:36wanting to contribute something,
04:38wanting to be a part of something good.
04:41And at that point in time,
04:43that's where this incident becomes very relevant.
04:47What are we going to do?
04:49Are we going to be like Firaun?
04:52So when that young man comes up to call the adhan,
04:55he did something bad,
04:57and he comes up to call the adhan, he's like,
04:59-"Hey, you, you, move back, move back.
05:02I don't want you calling adhan.
05:04You're a bad person."
05:06Are we going to do that?
05:08Because if we do that,
05:10that is our behavior.
05:11If we're judging people,
05:12the second they walk through the door,
05:14we're no better than Firaun.
05:17We have just exhibited an equality of Firaun.
05:22We're acting like Firaun,
05:24because that's what Firaun did.
05:25He didn't care what Musa a.s. had to say.
05:27He didn't care why he was coming.
05:29He didn't care who he had become
05:31and who he had matured into.
05:33All he was still stuck on was,
05:34-"Yeah, but you're the guy who did that."
05:37He was still stuck on that.
05:39So what are we going to do?
05:40How are we going to react to people?
05:42Versus that, compare that to
05:44the example of Muhammad Rasulullah s.a.w.
05:48Did he ever, ever, ever
05:51hold anyone's past against him?
05:53Never did.
05:54Never did.
06:09I'm sorry.

06:23I'm sorry.
06:24I'm sorry.
06:25I'm sorry.
06:26I'm sorry.
06:27I'm sorry.
06:28I'm sorry.
06:29I'm sorry.
06:30I'm sorry.
06:31I'm sorry.
