00:00This is George Priest from Fort Liverpool World at Finch Farm, following Sean Dyche's
00:04press conference ahead of Everton's trip to face Tottenham in the Premier League this
00:08weekend.
00:09In terms of team news, Dyche revealed that Jared Brantley is still absent after missing
00:13the opening day defeat to Brighton, as is James Garner and Seamus Coleman.
00:18Use of Schimiti and Neven Patson are longer term issues, but the real key news information
00:22that we heard was James Tarkowski is a doubt and he is apparently in a maybe situation
00:29where he could be missing the game at the weekend, which is going to be a huge blow
00:32for Everton, if it is indeed true.
00:34He hasn't missed a game since joining the club, playing every single game across the
00:38last two campaigns, he's joining on a free transfer from Burnley, so we will just have
00:42to see at the weekend whether he starts or not.
00:44If he doesn't, then it is almost guaranteed that we will see Jago Breen make his competitive
00:49debut for the club alongside Michael Keane.
00:52Just before the press conference started, there was a news report from the Athletic
00:57Club claiming that Kieran Trippier is a potential target for Everton and that they have opened
01:01talks over a potential loan deal that could be completed before the end of the window.
01:07Trippier was left out of the matchday squad in Newcastle's opening weekend win against
01:11Southampton and the 33-year-old is looking for first-team opportunities and Everton currently
01:16have a worrying right-back situation.
01:19He would be the perfect experienced figure to come in and show that side of their defence,
01:24which is a worry given that their options are Ashley Young, Seamus Coleman and Nathan
01:29Patterson who has really struggled to get any game time at all under Sean Dyche.
01:34When asked about the potential transfer, Dyche claimed that Trippier is just one of many
01:37names and he found it very funny that while they have a current right-back situation at
01:43the moment where they are struggling to find someone to fill that gap, that his name pops
01:47up.
01:48But there is no doubting that he would be a fantastic signing even on a temporary deal
01:52because he would bring quality, experience, he could also cover at left-back as well for
01:56Vitaly Mikhalenko and we already know about his quality from set-pieces and his crossing
02:01ability which would surely help Everton going forward and score more goals as a result as
02:06well.
02:07So it is a deal that they want to keep an eye on across the next few days.
02:10In terms of the two clubs' recent history, we saw Tottenham beat Everton 2-1 at the Tottenham
02:15Hotspur Stadium last season and Everton haven't won there in any of their last three visits
02:20but they did manage to secure it.
02:22A 1-0 win behind closed doors on the opening day of the 2020-21 season under Carlo Ancelotti
02:27and that was the last time they won there and that was one of two victories since 2008.
02:31So it hasn't been a happy hunting ground and it's only expected to become even tougher
02:36this weekend given their injury issues and the fact that Tottenham have a fantastic fully
02:40fit squad ready to right the wrongs of their opening day draw with Leicester City where
02:44they were very dominant for the majority of the game but struggled to take their chances
02:49and cornered up against the strike force of Dominic Solanke, Heung-Min Son, Charleson,
02:53Dejan Kulovtseski and Brennan Johnson.
02:55It's going to be a very difficult task for an Everton side that has been ravaged by injuries
03:00so far.
