00:00So you just said about the different planes of love that are possible, like mental, spiritual,

00:14physical, but somehow when you explained it, they were seeming different to me, but they

00:22are maybe because I have been raised that way that I intertwine these two things, mental

00:27and the physical plane, and that's how I come to see the world itself as well.

00:32I don't know, just because it's my upbringing, I don't feel like, let's say I've been made

00:37to feel that I'm not that beautiful or something like that, and I still want someone beautiful,

00:43and that won't just happen because they also have the same definition of beauty, and that's

00:47where the mental thing comes in somehow, that you are mentally well enough, so maybe that

00:52person likes you mentally, and then she wants to be with you physically as well, and then

00:58that just…

00:59That too depends on your definition of yourself.

01:07If you take yourself as primarily physical, then beauty too for you would be something

01:14just physical, right?

01:17You look at the woman most capable of successfully reproducing, that's the prakritic definition

01:36of beauty, do you understand this?

01:42What is the prakritic definition of beauty, what is prakriti?

01:47Physical nature, this that we see all around us.

01:51Here don't we have beautiful stuff, tell me beautiful stuff that you find in physical

01:58nature, and you will be astonished that in physical nature most of that which you call

02:05as beautiful is nothing but that which leads to procreation.

02:14The first thing that comes to mind is flowers, what are flowers?

02:21Flowers are the reproductive organs of the plant or the tree, aren't they?

02:33In physical nature, in prakriti, stuff that directly corresponds to reproduction appears

02:45attractive.

02:48Now you know why you are attracted to particular physical parts of a woman.

03:00Those parts are most likely to be the ones that are related to her capacity to reproduce,

03:11right?

03:14And it's common knowledge that in general most women would feel attracted to a male

03:24who has a certain built and other stuff and therefore can offer protection to the offspring.

03:37So all this talk of beauty at the physical level is just DNA trying to carry itself forward

03:51to the next human being.

03:56If you think that you are just a body, then all that you will care for is height and such

04:09stuff and complexion.

04:14If you take yourself as more mental, then you will be attracted to things like knowledge,

04:25like prestige, like money that are not directly related to reproduction or the body but indirectly

04:36even these things are just agents that facilitate successful cohabitation and the production

04:46of offspring.

04:51The definition of beauty totally changes if you look at yourself in the spiritual way.

05:01When the one that you are calling as beautiful, two would be different, then it is quite possible

05:10that you may find an utterly physically attractive woman quite ugly and equally it is possible

05:21that you may find somebody physically very ordinary or even repulsive to most people

05:33quite attractive to you.

05:37So it's not so much about attracting somebody beautiful to yourself or obtaining a beautiful

05:43mate in your life, it's more about knowing what beauty really is.

05:54Depending on your definition of beauty, you will choose your relationships, you will choose

06:00everything in life because life in one way is just a search for beauty.

06:06If the very definition of beauty is flawed, then all that you will gather and all that

06:12you will go through, all that you will bring towards yourself will be flawed as well.

06:19Don't let that happen.

06:25Just in this scenario, so I might feel like let's say I do not even need to go to the

06:30other sex for that spiritual connection or spiritual up going ahead, I might feel that

06:36someone of my friend is more helpful to me in those regards, but I still somehow have

06:43those, let's say animal urges, which just take…

06:48They must not be killed, but they must be subservient to the spiritual objective.

06:59One day I had called all that as the tail of the elephant.

07:05I had said that the real thing must be like the body of the elephant and then let the

07:13sexual part follow the body of the elephant like the tail.

07:16How big is the tail of the elephant?

07:18Fine, so obviously sexuality is a part of one's physical existence.

07:25There is no need to try to smother it.

07:29Let it be there, but then let it not occupy the commanding position in your psyche.

07:37Choose a person for his or her spiritual or actual merit and then if sex follows, alright.

07:48Who said that you have to never enter into the sexual activity?

07:55That's not a mandate.

07:59Spirituality does not forbid sex.

08:03It only forbids foolishness and most of our sexual activity is quite foolish.

08:12Therefore, by association, sex is talked of in spiritual circles in a lowly way, but that

08:25kind of lowliness that is accorded to sex is not because sex in itself is lowly.

08:31Sex is neither high nor low, it is just a physical thing, but it becomes lowly when

08:39it tries to occupy the place of the highest.

08:46In your mind, you have a throne, alright.

08:52In your mind, you have a hierarchy and that hierarchy should be right and clear.

08:59As a young person, if in your mental hierarchy, sex comes to occupy a very high position,

09:07then you will have problems.

09:10That does not mean that you have to give no place to sex in this hierarchical system.

09:17Give a place to sex that sex deserves and for sure it does not deserve the topmost place.

09:28So we talked of three levels of association, physical, mental, spiritual.

09:37They are not mutually exclusive, thanks for pointing that out.

09:43I didn't say that if you are spiritually related to someone, you will have no emotional

09:48connect and no physical connect.

09:53That was not the objective.

09:56A spiritual relationship means that you are related for spiritual reasons.

10:05Now the body is secondary.

10:09Now it does not matter whether sex happens or not, either way it does not matter.

10:15If it doesn't happen, fine.

10:17If it happens, you don't have to feel guilty.

10:23But you surely are guilty if sex itself becomes central.

10:29Then you have insulted yourself by bringing yourself down and the other person down to

10:35merely the level of animal existence.
