00:00Another cool, cloudy and wet day for many of us today as weather systems move in and
00:07push eastwards across the country. Looking at the bigger picture, low pressure in charge
00:10at the moment, tightly packed isobars indicating fairly strong winds. But as we move into Bank
00:16holiday Monday, we see a ridge of high pressure pushing in ahead of further wet and windy
00:21weather across northern and western areas greeting us for Tuesday.
00:26The rest of Sunday, outbreaks of rain across Northern Ireland, much of Scotland, Northern
00:30England. This will be heavy at times, particularly over western hills, accompanied by some strong
00:35and gusty winds, gales possible around some western coasts. Further south, generally cloudier
00:40across England and Wales, with a few showery outbreaks of rain across the Midlands, Wales,
00:45the West Country. Best of the drier, brighter weather across southeast England, some sunny
00:50spells here, but also staying on the breezy side. It will be a cool day under the cloud
00:55and rain. Temperatures struggling around 14 to 16 Celsius, so with the strength of
01:01the wind feeling quite chilly here, you may need an extra layer. Whilst further south,
01:05temperatures also a little disappointing, around 20 or 21 Celsius, quite similar to
01:11what we saw on Saturday. Through into the evening time, further showery rain across
01:15Northern Ireland. Southern Scotland could be heavy at times, some local disruption possible.
01:20This weather front just continues to feed in showers through the night across this part.
01:24Further north across Scotland, clear spells, but scattered showers across the Highlands
01:27and Islands. The rest of England and Wales also seeing the risk of a few showers, but
01:32clear spells. The winds falling a little lighter and temperatures also a little higher compared
01:37to recent nights, generally 12 to 14 Celsius. Under the clearest skies, northeast Scotland
01:43dipping into single figures. You can see this weather front Monday morning across Northern
01:47England, southern Scotland into Northern Ireland, giving thicker cloud, showery rain, which
01:51may extend into northern parts of Wales at times. Either side of this, generally drier
01:56and brighter, though cloud will become more prevalent as we move through into the afternoon.
02:01One or two showers are possible, but generally overall, Monday, which is bank holiday for
02:06the vast majority of the UK, will be dry and bright and there'll be some sunny spells and
02:10the winds also falling much lighter compared to Sunday and temperatures just lifting a
02:16little higher. As a result, high teens to low 20s, highs around 23 Celsius towards the
02:22southeast. So when the sun comes out, it will feel warmer. Into the evening time, though,
02:27the next weather system starts to approach. Thickening cloud, outbreaks of rain, strengthening
02:31winds across Northern Ireland, western Scotland to end of the day on Monday. Elsewhere, generally
02:36dry, but the winds picking up across western coasts of England and Wales. Thereafter, it
02:42stays fairly unsettled across the north and the west of the UK, but temperatures rising,
02:46particularly by midweek across the east and southeast, approaching 29, possibly 30 Celsius.
