00:00In Escoda Shoal until this morning, the ships of China were involved in the resupply mission for BRP Teresa Magbanwa yesterday, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.
00:10The supply of food for the troops there is already critical.
00:13Joseph Morong was there.
00:20In the middle of the guard of BRP Teresa Magbanwa in Escoda or Sabina Shoal near Palawan,
00:26due to the information that China is making a complaint there, the Philippine Coast Guard said that the supply of food for the ships is already critical.
00:34The food and supplies were delivered there last, in the first part of August.
00:44The two ships of the Philippine Coast Guard, which would bring food to BRP Teresa Magbanwa, were blocked by Chinese vessels.
00:52Yesterday, the China Coast Guard said that it was carrying out control measures because it is illegal for Philippine Coast Guard ships to enter their islands.
01:02But the Philippine Coast Guard insisted that the Philippines has the right to carry out activities in Escoda Shoal because it is in the lobby of the Philippines' Exclusive Economic Zone.
01:11Until this morning, the ships of China were still in the area.
01:17The Philippine Coast Guard insisted that the Philippines will not remove its presence in Escoda or Sabina Shoal in front of a complaint that China can make in the area.
01:28That is the commitment of the Commandant to the President.
01:33Commodore J. Tariella of the National Task Force of the West Philippine Sea approved the standoff of 2012 in Bajo de Macinloc or Scarborough Shoal between the Philippines and China.
01:44In the past, the two countries agreed to withdraw, but the Philippines was the only one to follow.
01:49Now, China has effective control of Bajo de Macinloc and the Filipinos cannot enter.
01:56The 2012 standoff has taught us one thing, that the moment we left Bajo de Macinloc, we cannot return.
02:06The Philippine Coast Guard will not be leaving Escoda Shoal until such time that we are certain that the Chinese government is not going to permanently occupy Escoda Shoal.
02:17Escoda Shoal is 75 nautical miles or 140 kilometers away from Palawan.
02:24Philippine Navy and Philippine Coast Guard ships will also pass through it during a resupply mission to Ayungin Shoal where BRP Sierra Madre is located.
02:32If ever Escoda Shoal is taken away from us, that would be very easy for China and then let's say they occupy it,
02:40that would be very easy for China to prevent whatever resupply operation that we intend to carry out in Ayungin Shoal
02:48because they can basically block it on both sides.
02:51For GMA Integrated News, Joseph Morong, for 24 Hours.
03:02.
