00:00Hi there, I'm James Swindley and I'm the landlord of the White House Hotel, a hotel in Muxton Telford.
00:08As a family we came here in 1963 and I took over the business in the early 90s when my parents retired.
00:18But I've been working here since I was 17 and now is the time to retire I believe.
00:24And the plan is now to sell the lease on to a company, the Grill Co, and they're going to take it over.
00:32It's something they're going to miss me, but I don't know.
00:36You're just happy to put your feet up.
00:38Yes, definitely.
00:39You've seen a lot of changes over the years?
00:41Yes, in the past it was a busy bar, busy restaurant. It's not as easy as it used to be, but it's still quite a busy business and it does quite well.
00:50People's habits have changed. They drink earlier, they don't stay up late at night anymore, they don't drink as much.
00:57But people's habits have changed I think and we've still managed to keep it going and hopefully we'll give it a new impetus for the local area.
