PAGASA warns of heavy rains due to ‘habagat’

A typhoon with the international name “Shanshan” is not expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility but it may influence weather conditions over the next two days, potentially triggering monsoon rains over parts of the country.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in its 11 p.m. advisory on Tuesday, Aug. 27, the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) may affect the western parts of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Western Visayas.

00:00Our latest satellite images show the continuation of the southwest monsoon
00:04and this will bring a cloudy sky with scattered rains
00:09in a large part of Central and Southern Luzon,
00:13the Mimaropa-Calabarzon, along with the Bicol Region,

03:25in Tagaytay, 22 to 28 degrees Celsius,
03:28while in Legazpi, 26 to 31 degrees Celsius.
03:33Here in the area of Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao,
03:36we expect heavy rain showers and thunderstorms
03:40in the area of Palawan until the weekend.
03:46The temperature in Calayan Islands is 25 to 31 degrees Celsius,
03:49in Puerto Princesa, 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.
03:53A large part of Visayas will experience heavy rain showers,
03:56especially in the area of western Visayas,
03:59along with Hanging Habagat.
04:00The temperature in Iloilo is 25 to 30 degrees Celsius,
04:04while in Cebu, it is 31 degrees Celsius,
04:07while in Tacloban, it is 26 to 31 degrees Celsius.
