Leeds United: Largie Ramazani set to sign
Transcript
00:00Of course, on the transfer front, there is some movement as well in terms of incomings.
00:04Of course, we've been through all the outgoings so far this summer, but there is finally going
00:10to be, by the looks of it, a replacement for Cricenzio Somerville. Now, I'm not entirely
00:14sure how you pronounce this name, Lee, so I'm going to leave it to you to introduce
00:18him.
00:19I think it's not a too bad one in terms of Largi Ramazzani. I think we'll get away with
00:23that. I think we're okay with that.
00:24I wasn't sure if it was Lar-gee or Lar-gee.
00:28Yes, we'll go with either. We'll just say Ramazzani for now then and then we'll wait
00:30until there's a few more interviews and stuff and he might even tell us himself or whatever.
00:34Yes, he's obviously a big sign-in and very much seen as Cricenzio Somerville's replacement.
00:39Now, obviously, that's a big thing to say and they are big boots to fill, obviously,
00:44when you're trying to come in and replace the Championship's Player of the Year. Daniel
00:47Farke has readily admitted himself, basically, that in terms of replacing the attackers,
00:52i.e. Somerville and Routier, you're not just going to be able to get somebody in like-for-like
00:55because that's the magnitude of the players that they're following in. But he does look
01:00a very good sign-in in his own right. He looks like a player on a very big upward curve.
01:04ÂŁ10 million for him, still a good age at 23 years old. So, obviously, an awful lot
01:09probably of improvements have come from him. Even as it stands now, he's a player who's
01:13had a big impact in La Liga with Almiria, who have obviously just been relegated. But
01:18I think, what was it, 62 games in La Liga and six goals and seven assists. So, that's
01:22not bad at his age, obviously. He's still learning the game and that might not be an
01:26absolute hatful of goals and assists, but that's in La Liga and this is the Championship.
01:30So, I think everybody fully expects him to be a massive success in the Championship.
01:34Whether he can quite repeat what Somerville did or even go close to that remains to be
01:38seen and obviously, he'll have to settle in first and foremost. But, yes, I think a player
01:41who can obviously be seen as a winger but can probably play anywhere. I think most players
01:45can probably play anywhere across the front line, really. In terms of, unless you're like
01:49an out-and-out number nine striker, like Harry Kane or somebody like that. I mean, even in
01:53key player positions. But I suspect he can play any of them. Certainly, as a number 10
01:57if needed, whether he's an upfront sort of person remains to be seen. But probably, basically
02:02going to be seen as a winger.
02:03He looks quick, skilful, as I say. He's already got goals and assists to his name. He's obviously
02:08got English experience as well, in terms of, yes, he's a Belgian, born in Belgium, Youth
02:13International but moved to the country when he was fairly young, obviously, at Charlton
02:18and then at Manchester United. So, he's sort of seen as a home-grown player or whatever.
02:22Only had one appearance for Man U, then went off to Almeria in Spain and basically just
02:26been going from sort of strength to strength there. And this looks like the right sort
02:29of move for him. So, I think, basically, it sort of seems to tick every box, really. Probably
02:33a good move for the player. Coming to a team that are hopefully going to get promoted will
02:37definitely be challenging for promotion and there'll be massive disappointment if Leeds
02:40aren't promoted. And for Leeds, he should tick all the boxes. As I say, he looks like
02:45he's already made some of a replacement. I think a lot of people have been saying he certainly
02:49looks like some of a replacement on social media because he's very much got the sort
02:52of Instagram thing going on with all the fancy videos and stuff and arriving on a plane and
02:56stuff. And he's one of them players that even though he's not even played yet, you already
03:00sense he's got a bit of star quality about him. But, I mean, look, he's not even played
03:04yet. So, let's give him time to settle in and stuff and not expect too much too soon.
03:07But I think everybody was definitely pretty excited by that sign. And as I say, it's not
03:11like, I mean, ÂŁ10 million is a decent whack in a championship, obviously, but it's not
03:15like they've moved heaven and earth in terms of absolutely smashing the budget to go and
03:20get him. I think it's a reasonable price. I think it looks like a good deal and exciting
03:25times. And obviously, he didn't sign in time to feature at Chef Wednesday, but he'll be
03:29up and running now and stuff. Any new player, as you know, Daniel needs time to settle.
03:33But he'd already started the season with Almir in Spain. So, he's had pre-season. He's had
03:38games. So, I don't think he's coming in where he's going to need weeks and
03:41weeks to get in there. I think he'll be pretty quickly up and running. Whether he can get in
03:46straight away remains to be seen. But I think when you're signing someone like that and
03:50with the sort of credentials he's got, I'd be surprised if he didn't become a first-team
03:53regular and hopefully a very exciting one. So, yes, a big, big, big sign-in. There are
03:58obviously other sign-ins earlier this summer. But, I mean, in terms of the attacking one,
04:02that's the biggest one so far, obviously, and probably the biggest sign-in there is so far
04:05anyway. Obviously, Joe Robben coming in was massive, which people forget about. I haven't
04:10been on loan. But, yes, a very, very good sign-in and I think just excited to see what
04:14he can do. And his celebrations, it looks like he's got some nice flips when he scores.
04:17So, we'll be pleased to see then. Hopefully, we'll see him sooner rather than later.
04:20Well, yes, I've always enjoyed an acrobatic celebration, to be honest, when it comes to
04:26goals. Just to make it clear, we're no longer looking back in anger on the day that Oasis
04:34has reformed about Crisenzio Somerville's departure because Leeds are...
04:39Absolutely.
04:41Yes, I'll be for all those lists and you can crucify me in the comments for trying to put
04:45that little reference in.
04:46Yes, some might say they're going in the right direction now. So, yes, absolutely, yes.
04:51That was actually good, Lee. Well done.
04:53We could beer all day with those, yes.
04:56I can applaud that one because that's pretty good.
04:59Right, let's roll with it on to the next sign-in then, shall we?
05:01Oh, wow, it's even better.
05:04Here we go, yes.
