00:00The cabinet will discuss a proposal to compensate the family of the Indian
00:05national who fell into a sinkhole on Jalan Masjid India in Kuala Lumpur.
00:09According to Brunei Federal Territories Minister Dr. Zaleha Mustafa said she
00:14intends to bring up the matter for discussion next week. Yesterday the
00:18search-and-rescue operation for the 48-year-old woman was halted. Vijaya
00:23Lechmi, a tourist from Kupam, Andhra Pradesh, India who was on vacation with
00:27family in Malaysia, fell into the 8 meter deep sinkhole on August 23rd while
00:31walking in the area. Meanwhile Kuala Lumpur Mayor Maimunah Shariff said all
00:36planning permission applications for construction in the capital must
00:39include a geotechnical report prepared by a certified consultant effective
00:43immediately. Maimunah said work on repairing the sinkhole area is expected
00:48to take three to six months. She also advised the public to adhere to
00:52instructions and cooperate with Kuala Lumpur City Hall during the repair work
00:56in the affected areas.
