00:00Thomas and the Colours
00:06All the engines on Sodor enjoy pulling carriages.
00:11Taking passengers makes them feel proud and useful.
00:18The Fat Controller had an important announcement to make.
00:23Today is the day of the big football match, he boomed.
00:28The Sodor school team will play a team from the mainland.
00:33All the engines were very excited.
00:37Whoever finishes their jobs first will pull the Sodor team.
00:44Last year James had pulled the Sodor team.
00:48His carriages had been decorated with ribbons and flags.
00:53Everyone had cheered.
00:56This year Thomas wanted to pull the Sodor team carriages.
01:01He was going to try hard to finish his jobs first.
01:08Soon Thomas' work was done.
01:11He was sure he'd finish first and he steamed proudly to the yards.
01:18But when he puffed into the yards, there was James.
01:24James had finished all his jobs first.
01:28Cinders and ashes, cried Thomas.
01:31Look Thomas, huffed James proudly.
01:35Don't these flags look wonderful on me?
01:39Thomas was upset.
01:42But you pulled the team carriages last year, he huffed.
01:46And I'm pulling them again this year, snorted James.
01:49Because I finished all my jobs and I got to the yard first.
01:55Thomas was very unhappy.
01:58It's not fair, he wished.
02:01He wanted to find a way to make James change his mind.
02:10James was on his way to collect the Sodor team.
02:14But he had to stop at a signal.
02:19Thomas puffed up next to him.
02:23I've got an idea, tooted Thomas.
02:27Why don't you take the Fat Controller to the match?
02:30He will have the trophy.
02:32That's the best job.
02:36Then I can take the Sodor team carriages for you.
02:41But James didn't want to take the Fat Controller or the trophy.
02:46He thought wearing the team colours was much more exciting.
02:54Thomas tried to think of another way to make James change his mind.
03:00James puffed along by the canal.
03:03Thomas raced up alongside.
03:07Wait, James, he cried.
03:10Look at your reflection.
03:12Green flags spoil your bright red paint, puffed Thomas.
03:17But James didn't think so.
03:20He thought he looked better.
03:24Thomas's idea to take the team hadn't worked.
03:29He had to think of another one.
03:36James was still puffing proudly to collect the Sodor team.
03:43He thought it was a good idea.
03:46James was still puffing proudly to collect the Sodor team.
03:54Thomas was puffing along too.
03:57He was thinking hard.
04:01Suddenly, an idea flew into his funnel.
04:07Thomas pulled up to the signal box.
04:11He was pleased that James hadn't yet arrived.
04:15Quick, sir, you must change the points.
04:19So the signalman pulled a big lever.
04:23Then Thomas watched James fly into the siding.
04:28The siding hadn't been used for a long time.
04:31It was very overgrown.
04:37Thomas heard scratching and scraping sounds.
04:42When Thomas saw what had happened, he could not believe his eyes.
04:47Cinders and ashes, cried Thomas.
04:52All the green and white flags had been ripped from James's funnel and cab.
04:58The Sodor team colours are ruined, cried James.
05:03Thomas felt terrible.
05:06I'll go for help, he said, and he steamed quickly away.
05:12Thomas felt very silly.
05:14He wanted to take the team and he had spoiled everything.
05:19Just then, he saw Bertie.
05:22Bertie was taking the children to the football match.
05:25They were all carrying flags and wearing scarves.
05:30But Bertie had broken down.
05:32Smoke was coming from his radiator and his engine made a wheezing sound.
05:37Please, Thomas, said Bertie, can you take the children to the football match for me?
05:43I'm sorry, Bertie, puffed Thomas, but I have to help James.
05:49Thomas felt bad.
05:51He had already got James into trouble and now he couldn't help Bertie.
05:57Suddenly, Thomas had an idea.
06:00I can take your passengers, Bertie, and I can help James too.
06:06So Thomas quickly collected Annie and Clarabel and he took the children to the siding.
06:12They had a wonderful time.
06:15They decorated James with their scarves and flags.
06:19He looked splendid.
06:23When James arrived at the football ground, everybody cheered.
06:28They all thought he looked wonderful.
06:31I look even better than last year, puffed James proudly.
06:37Thomas was very pleased.
06:40Maybe I could pull the school team next year, Thomas asked hopefully.
06:45James thought that was a grand idea.
06:49But only if you get to the yard first, he teased.
