00:00It's good to be Gordon.
00:05Gordon is a beautiful blue engine with a great big boiler and a separate tender for his coal.
00:14Gordon's favourite job is to pull the express.
00:22One beautiful spring morning, the Fat Controller came to see Gordon.
00:28Today, if you pull the express across the island and back again on time,
00:35then you will set a new Sodor record.
00:39Gordon was excited.
00:42He wanted to set a new record more than anything.
00:46Hooray for Gordon, whistled Thomas, and all the engines tooted.
00:54Gordon steamed over to the coal depot.
00:58He rolled under a coal chute and his tender was quickly filled.
01:04Gordon started puffing away when the yard manager called.
01:09Stop, Gordon!
01:13You've been given Henry's special coal by mistake.
01:18Gordon knew that Henry needed special coal.
01:21But he thought Henry's coal would help him go faster.
01:26So he pretended not to hear.
01:33Henry had to take tar wagons to Knapford.
01:37He rolled his tender under the chute and waited for his coal.
01:44I'm sorry, Henry, said the yard manager.

02:00Ordinary coal clogged his firebox and stopped him making steam.

03:29Thomas thought Henry looked very ill indeed.
03:36Gordon was making good time and feeling grand.
03:40Have you seen Henry? asked Thomas worriedly.

03:47I'm sure Henry is fine, Gordon hooted.
03:51But his face was as green as his tender, Thomas puffed.
03:56Now Gordon began to wish he hadn't taken Henry's coal.
04:00But he still wanted to set a new record.
04:04So when the signal changed, Gordon was on his way.
04:08When the signal changed, Gordon puffed on.
04:15But no matter how fast Gordon went,
04:19he couldn't get away from the bad feeling in his boiler.
04:24Gordon wasn't enjoying being Gordon anymore.
04:31Gordon had to stop to let off passengers.
04:35Henry was taking on water.

04:40His axles were shaking and dark smoke billowed from his funnel.
04:45Are you feeling all right? asked Gordon.

04:57But then it was time for Gordon to leave.
05:01Hooray for Gordon! wheezed Henry.
05:04You'll set a new record for sure.
05:10Gordon could see Knapford Station up ahead.
05:15The fat controller was there.
05:18Gordon was on time and going to set a new record.
05:22But Gordon's bad feeling was now so strong,
05:26he thought his boiler would burst.
05:29Gordon slowed to a halt.
05:31You're going to be late, cried his driver.
05:35I don't care, whistled Gordon.
05:38And he started to reverse.
05:45Gordon soon reached Henry.
05:49Henry had stopped for a rest.
05:52He was surprised to see Gordon.
05:55I took your special coal this morning, puffed Gordon.
06:00I wanted to go faster than ever.
06:03I'm very sorry.
06:05But now I have a good idea.
06:08Gordon and Henry swat tenders.
06:12Soon, Henry's firebox was full of special coal.
06:17Henry felt better right away.
06:20Thank you, Gordon, he huffed happily.
06:24And together they puffed off to Knapford Station.
06:28But Gordon and the express were late.
06:32Only Thomas was there.
06:34The fat controller had gone home for his tea.
06:38I'm sorry you didn't set a new record today, chuffed Henry.
06:43And I'm sorry I took your coal, puffed Gordon.
06:47Who holds the old record, whistled Thomas.
06:52I do, said Gordon.
06:54And the good friends laughed.
