00:00You're a monster, Zod, and I'm gonna stop you.
00:06Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the 30 Most Physically Powerful Characters in the History of Fiction.
00:13Don't try to sell it short, Frieza. You and I both know it's an incredible jump. It's changed my whole idea of power.
00:22Number 30. Spider-Man. Marvel Comics.
00:25After being bitten by a radioactive spider, scrawny teenager Peter Parker transforms into an absolute tank overnight.
00:32Is he strong? Listen, bud. He's got radioactive blood.
00:37Sure, he continues to be plagued by teenage problems, but now he can lift a car. Actually, he can lift a lot more.
00:43We've seen Spider-Man catch falling cable cars, stop runaway trains, even lift the weight of entire collapsing buildings.
00:51According to his files, he supposedly has the proportional strength of a spider.
01:01But when he's under pressure and lives are on the line, Spider-Man has proven himself capable of much, much more.
01:07Whether it's his adrenal glands working overtime or just great power coming with all that responsibility,
01:12Spider-Man stacks up somewhere in the middle weights, even in a universe full of superhumans.
01:17But I can't shake these drones!
01:20Number 29. Luke Cage. Marvel Comics.
01:30If this was a durability list, Luke Cage would be much closer to the top.
01:36His famously impenetrable skin can turn away knives, bullets, and even hits from Iron Man or Thor.
01:42It also gives him a level of strength that puts your average bodybuilder to shame.
01:46He may not be the strongest person on this list, but Luke occupies a spot on the scale where you get to do all the cool stuff like wreck construction equipment and rip through steel chains with your bare hands.
01:56Not enough? How about this?
01:58He once carried a semi-truck seven blocks on his shoulders because it wouldn't start.
02:03Number 28. Mario. The Super Mario Franchise.
02:07So, what's the big deal? Mario can punch through a brick block.
02:10Real-life martial artists can do that, but can they do it once every few seconds for as long as it takes to beat the game?
02:17Now that's special.
02:18Then again, we're not ranking characters on endurance. What else you got, Mario?
02:22Oh, you can also lift a castle and dropkick it like it's nothing?
02:28And swing a truck-sized turtle around by the tail?
02:31No!
02:39You can also launch asteroids like cannonballs?
02:47Okay, point taken.
02:49Mario is the ultimate example of how looks can be deceiving.
02:52He might look like an out-of-shape plumber, but you should never underestimate someone who can drive steaks into the ground with nothing but a well-placed butt stomp.
03:02Number 27. Mr. Incredible. The Incredibles Franchise.
03:07When Mr. Incredible needs a training montage, regular weights just won't cut it.
03:11Apparently, he heads down to the local rail yard and starts bench-pressing train cars.
03:20That's a lot of weight to lift just to make a pun on training.
03:24As for Mr. Incredible, that's just a warm-up.
03:26In The Incredibles, we see him wrestle giant robots, change the course of battleship-sized vehicles, and wreck tons of household objects just by being absent-minded.
03:40His maximum strength isn't quite enough to get out of Syndrome's traps without help, and he's not quite as unstoppable as other heroes on our list.
03:48But Mr. Incredible is still a solid contender for strongest man in his world.
03:57Number 26. Wolverine. The X-Men Franchise.
04:01How can you go wrong with an adamantium skeleton and razor-sharp claws?
04:12Undoubtedly one of the most recognizable X-Men, James Logan Howlett has faced some of Marvel's most powerful villains,
04:19and his extended lifespan has involved him in some of the biggest battles in human history.
04:25His anatomy makes him nearly indestructible, and his healing abilities allow for quick recovery from any blows that enemies might land.
04:32His superb battle skills and experience have rallied impressive allies, from his team of mutants to a recent partnership with the one and only Deadpool.
04:40Even taking the adamantium from the equation, Wolverine's raw strength exhibits power and determination that has successfully defeated equally invincible adversaries.
04:56And seriously, just look at those muscles.
04:59Number 25. Kirby. The Kirby Franchise.
05:02He might look adorable, but this little pink balloon is deceptively powerful.
05:10He's most known for inhaling adversaries, and doing so allows Kirby to acquire his enemy's strength and use their own weapons against them.
05:23With leaf-cutter ant-like strength, he can easily lift and hurl objects that are significantly larger than himself.
05:30We've also seen him endure harsh environments, proving adaptable and resilient to extreme weather and geographical conditions.
05:39He's even taken down celestial beings and literal gods.
05:43His abilities, uncompromising determination, and unique versatility make him the epitome of the phrase, tiny but mighty.
05:50Number 24. The Thing. Marvel Comics.
05:58Ben Grimm is the equivalent of a human landslide.
06:03No, that's not just a pun on his craggy countenance. He's got all the power to back it up and more.
06:08Consistently shown as just below the Hulk in raw physical force, Fantastic Four's The Thing has managed to clobber the Jade Giant on one or two occasions, but just barely.
06:18Even so, he's lifted skyscrapers, oil rigs, and even replaced the cables of suspension bridges all by his lonesome.
06:25And whether it's all that weight training or the ongoing effects of his cosmic ray-induced mutation, he seems to be getting stronger over time.
06:33Who knows, maybe the Hulk has some competition.
06:35Number 23. Genie. Aladdin.
06:38Genie from Aladdin is an absolute colossus of cosmic power, a blend of cheeky humor and Herculean muscle.
06:45Genie of the Lamp!
07:01His strengths, both magical and physical, are boundless, limited only by the imagination of his summoner.
07:08Genie could effortlessly alter reality with a flick of his wrist.
07:11He can lift mountains, reshape worlds, and defy the laws of nature, all while delivering punchlines that light up the cosmos.
07:19His strength, however, has one significant limitation that forces him lower on the list.
07:24He can only do these things while fulfilling a wish.
07:30His power and strength are imprisoned within a lamp, and he is essentially powerless.
07:36Number 22. Juggernaut. Marvel Comics.
07:39Juggernaut is one of the most fearsome foes of the X-Men in Marvel Comics.
07:52Thanks to the crimson gem of Sidorak, Professor Xavier's stepbrother Kane Marko was bestowed with godlike strength.
07:58He transforms into a living Juggernaut, the embodiment of pure, relentless strength.
08:03Juggernaut is the proverbial unstoppable force.
08:06Nothing can halt his advance, not mountains, not armies, not even the laws of physics.
08:21His immense physical power is matched by near-invulnerability, rendering him almost impervious to harm.
08:27When he charges, the world trembles and barriers crumble.
08:31In a universe teeming with superhuman beings, Juggernaut stands as an indomitable monster.
08:40In the past, he has taken on and defeated some of Marvel's strongest heroes, including the Hulk.
08:46Number 21. Lobo. DC Comics.
08:49There's a reason why nobody in the DC Universe wants to learn that they have a bounty on their heads.
08:53There's a decent chance that it's been taken up by Lobo, the main man.
09:01Lobo calls for the main man to put on a show for the locals.
09:04So one more time, surrender or die.
09:09Lobo is a galactic powerhouse, a bounty hunter whose strength defies comprehension.
09:14Much like Superman, Lobo is the last son of his world, Czarnia.
09:18Lobo's super strength is matched only by his regenerative abilities.
09:22Fine. You had your chance.
09:26He can heal from any wound, ensuring that he never stays down.
09:30Lobo has tussled with the Man of Steel on many occasions.
09:33On the job, Lobo is a one-man wrecking crew.
09:36His strength, ferocity and sheer willpower make him one of the most formidable characters in DC Comics.
09:42But you still sound like a dweeb.
09:45You could have mentioned the immortality.
09:48I like to keep people guessing.
09:51Number 20. Rick Sanchez. Rick and Morty.
09:54In fiction, a Mary Sue is a character who is too perfect and competent to be believable.
09:59You for real just try to smite me?
10:01Siri, triangulate source of power.
10:04Got you now, you son of a bitch.
10:06Tweety, you handle the hippies, I'll handle the off-brand Yahweh.
10:09Kick his ass, Dad.
10:10Bear witness.
10:11The only things preventing Rick Sanchez from being the Mary Sue-est character ever
10:16are his attitude and his use of alcohol.
10:19He is possibly the most brilliant scientist in all of fiction,
10:22limited only by his own imagination.
10:25Rick's inventions can amplify his strength on a whim.
10:28His arsenal of gadgets can transform Rick into a powerhouse capable of toppling entire dimensions.
10:33You think my Rick's dead, he's alive.
10:35And if you think you're safe, he's coming for you.
10:37He can reconstruct his own body at will, reshape reality or construct an invincible mech suit.
10:43Rick's true power lies in his boundless ingenuity and unpredictability,
10:47making him a virtually unstoppable force.
10:50Combined with his ruthlessness and lack of moral constraints,
10:53Rick is all but invincible.
10:55You're less motivated to fight now, so this is literally a punching down, but you've got it coming.
11:03Shazam?
11:04Okay, seriously, did someone mix a bunch of prank entries into this list?
11:07First Mario, now this literal child?
11:10What, does he just say a magic word and then suddenly he can lift a bus?
11:14Okay, yes, apparently that is exactly what happens.
11:16I got the bus. I got the bus.
11:19You open him over there.
11:20Oh, I gotta put this thing down, I gotta put this thing down.
11:22Originally called Captain Marvel,
11:24these days he goes by Shazam to avoid confusion with certain other heroes.
11:28Billy Batson's superhero identity can punch through mountains,
11:31rip through steel and, maybe most impressive of all,
11:34fight Superman to a standstill.
11:43To be fair, Superman is vulnerable to magic,
11:45so that might be what gives Shazam the edge.
11:48But anyone who can take on the Man of Steel is a force to be reckoned with.
11:59Sentry was meant at first to be a tongue-in-cheek spoof of DC's Superman.
12:03Overweight and over the hill,
12:05Bob Reynolds is an average middle-aged dude who remembers that he is, in fact, a powerful hero.
12:11He is the Sentry, a being with the power of one million exploding suns.
12:16He has the might of a living god,
12:18able to lift immense weight and take on the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe.
12:22Sentry's presence can shift the balance of entire wars.
12:26Sentry is nearly invulnerable.
12:28His one weakness is his evil alter ego, the Void,
12:31who lives inside the same physical vessel.
12:34Sentry's power is all but limitless,
12:36making him one of the biggest tanks in the history of fiction.
12:41Sauron, the Lord of the Rings franchise.
12:44Given the titanic power and depth of evil of Sauron,
12:47it's hard to believe that he was once just the servant of a greater and darker power.
13:01Sauron is the most powerful and evil of the Maiar, an angelic race.
13:06As the Dark Lord,
13:07Sauron wields immense physical and mystical might.
13:10He can choose whether to wipe out entire armies by hand or with his mystical powers.
13:14The One Ring amplifies his strength and extends his influence across Middle-Earth.
13:31Sauron's physical form, when manifested, is towering and formidable,
13:35capable of devastating combat.
13:37His endurance is near infinite, surviving even the fall of Numenor.
13:42Sauron's strength isn't just brute force.
13:45It's his unyielding will, which is able to dominate the minds of others.
13:50You cannot hide.
13:56I see you.
14:03Darth Vader is a figure of raw power and elegant evil,
14:06a Sith Lord whose strength is both physical and mystical.
14:10I find your lack of faith disturbing.
14:14Enough of this. Vader, release him.
14:17As you wish.
14:19Encased in his iconic armor,
14:21Vader can easily overpower foes with the sheer force of his rage and violence.
14:25Vader's power is both reduced and enhanced by his terrible wounds.
14:29While he uses the Force to help his suit to keep him alive,
14:32the pain fuels his hatred and rage.
14:35Obi-Wan has taught you well.
14:37You have control of your fear.
14:42Now, release your anger.
14:45Only your hatred can destroy me.
14:49His mastery of the dark side of the Force amplifies his strength.
14:52Vader can choke enemies from afar,
14:55hurl objects with telekinesis,
14:57and withstand grievous injuries.
14:59Vader's combat skills are unparalleled,
15:01his lightsaber an extension of his lethal will.
15:04His presence alone can dominate a battlefield,
15:07instilling fear and crushing all opposition.
15:10We would be honored if you would join us.
15:20I had no choice. They arrived right before you did.
15:26By the time we first meet All Might on My Hero Academia,
15:29he's getting old.
15:30Injured and infirm,
15:32he can't use his powers for very long stretches of time
15:34without making things even worse.
15:36So, how strong can he possibly be?
15:39Well, there's the time he punched a monster into space
15:42despite its shock absorption powers.
15:44Plus...
15:46Ultra!
15:53Or the time he hit a guy so hard
15:55it changed the air pressure and made it rain.
15:57Detroit...
15:59Air!
16:03That's not even the half of it.
16:05All Might is so jacked,
16:06he can use his muscular strength as a ranged weapon.
16:09The sheer wind from his punches and kicks can topple enemies,
16:13level buildings and even cause tornadoes.
16:16If he wasn't such a good guy,
16:18All Might would be a one-man natural disaster.
16:22Goodbye...
16:24all for one.
16:29United...
16:31States of...
16:37I haven't had this much fun battling bird beasts
16:40since I saved Prometheus from that liberating vulture!
16:43Hold on.
16:44If we start letting in mythological characters,
16:46that's gonna upend this whole list.
16:48But there is a loophole.
16:50It's not mythology when it's the comic book version of the character.
16:53Besides, the Greek myth version of Hercules
16:55arguably never came close to the feats of the Marvel version.
16:58This god and hero has towed the island of Manhattan
17:01across New York Bay
17:03and broken the Silver Surfer's supposedly unbreakable board.
17:06Maybe most impressively,
17:09to give Atlas a break.
17:10How heavy is this guy?
17:12We're not sure if there's an appropriate unit of measurement,
17:15but it's safe to say it's pretty impressive.
17:25Godzilla earns a spot on this list based on size alone.
17:29He's big enough to topple skyscrapers like Jenga towers.
17:32When he gets into a fistfight, cities are left in ruin.
17:36When he lifts and throws another kaiju his size,
17:38or, you know, simply takes a 90,000-ton step,
17:41he's pulling off a feat equal to any of the Thing's major achievements.
17:51So why is Godzilla on the list and not some other kaiju?
17:54Why not the much larger King Ghidorah?
17:57First, Godzilla gets stronger and stronger the more radiation he soaks up,
18:01meaning he's got a higher cap on his power.
18:06But more importantly, Godzilla has fought King Ghidorah over and over,
18:17and every single time, he kicks Ghidorah's gold-scaled butt.
18:36Okay, seriously, enough with the joke entries.
18:38That's clearly just a big ball of stuff rolling around by itself.
18:42Wait, what? You're kidding.
18:44That little guy is the muscle behind this ever-growing ball of objects?
18:52Well, despite often being depicted as only a few inches tall,
18:55Katamari's prince of all cosmos clearly has some serious power.
18:59He starts small, rolling up matchsticks and pencils into his Katamari,
19:02but once he gets going, he will pick up people, buildings, or even kaiju.
19:12He's known to incorporate small landmasses into his Katamari.
19:15Before long, he's pushing around a sphere that's hundreds of feet in diameter.
19:19It's truly a sight to behold.
19:21Not bad for a little guy.
19:23They couldn't call him that if it wasn't true.
19:25And there's more to Thor than a fancy hammer and a bunch of lightning.
19:28His official ranking in the Marvel Universe puts him just below the Hulk in pure lifting power.
19:39And while he might disagree about who's the strongest Avenger,
19:42number two is nothing to sneeze at.
19:44Even without the help of Mjolnir,
19:46he's held shattered moons together,
19:48thrown around a serpent the size of the Earth,
19:50and resisted the gravity of a neutron star.
19:57When he arm-wrestled his rival Hercules,
19:59the sheer force of their struggle was enough to tear apart a mountain plateau.
20:03Honestly, at this point, Mighty might be understated.
20:06But he's still the strongest Avenger in the Marvel Universe.
20:10Kratos killed, like, most of the Greek gods,
20:13so you know he's more than earned a spot on this list.
20:16In the God of War games,
20:17there's no doubt that Kratos is superhumanly strong.
20:20Just look at this shot of him heroically not being squished between a Titan's fingers.
20:25In fairness, that is just the way Kratos is.
20:28He's not the strongest Avenger in the Marvel Universe,
20:31but he's still the strongest Avenger in the Marvel Universe.
20:34Just look at this shot of him heroically not being squished between a Titan's fingers.
20:37In fairness, that is just the way Kratos is.
20:45When Kratos gets around to actually killing a Titan,
20:47his go-to tactic is climbing around and stabbing them in the squishy parts.
20:51That says less direct match for a god and more very ambitious mosquito.
20:56Still, there aren't a lot of mosquitoes that can toss giant logs,
21:00punch a dude through a forest,
21:01or do this to the Hydra.
21:03There's no question that Kratos has earned his spot in the Super Strength Hall of Fame.
21:14You can probably tell from the title Asura's Wrath
21:16that the title character is not what you'd call a chill guy.
21:20In fact, as the game goes on, he just gets madder and madder.
21:23And as he does, he gets stronger.
21:33As Asura cycles through various power-up forms,
21:36he goes from strong enough to break mountains,
21:38to punching asteroid-sized monsters in half,
21:41to punching a being roughly the size of the Earth so hard it literally explodes.
21:56And that's not even his final form.
22:04Arrgh!
22:10You might think that having Thanos on this list is cheating.
22:13His most impressive feats are done with the help of the Infinity Gauntlet,
22:16which clearly lets him manipulate the fabric of reality.
22:22But even without the gauntlet,
22:24Thanos gives Marvel's mightiest heroes a run for their money.
22:27Case in point, he is consistently able to go toe-to-toe with the Hulk,
22:30which is sort of the gold standard for being considered one of Marvel's top tier in strength.
22:36He's by no means stronger than Marvel's mighty rage beast,
22:39but he can hold his own.
22:41Of course, he has the advantage of fighting intelligently against Hulk's berserker style,
22:45which does sometimes translate to a win.
22:48Either way, Thanos has more than earned his place.
22:52Arrgh!
22:59Wonder Woman's strength hasn't exactly been consistent.
23:02Since the 40s, she's been depicted as moving islands with ease,
23:05or having trouble lifting a tank.
23:14But when she's strong, boy is she ever strong.
23:17She has overpowered the whole Justice League,
23:20admittedly minus Superman,
23:22pulled Martian Manhunter out of a black hole,
23:24and stood her ground against Doomsday,
23:26the monster that killed Superman.
23:33Wonder Woman even single-handedly towed the moon out of orbit
23:36without even breaking a sweat.
23:38The only consistent answer to how strong she is
23:41seems to be almost as strong as Superman.
23:43Like Shazam, she's beaten him in more than one fight,
23:46making up for the difference in raw power with her magic weapons
23:49and superior training.
24:00Unicron is a planet in the Transformers universe.
24:03Also, he's a robot.
24:05What does he eat? Other planets.
24:07And he does it by dragging them into his orbit
24:10and shredding them up with his terrifying giant robo-teeth.
24:14Much like Godzilla, Unicron would have made this list
24:17even if he did little else.
24:19Every time he lifts a hand to scratch his nose,
24:21he's moving more strength than Kratos and Spider-Man put together.
24:24Ripping chunks out of a planet is his equivalent of eating a sandwich.
24:35With Unicron, we've entered a part of the list
24:38full of characters who are so strong,
24:40it's hard for us mere mortals to even comprehend
24:43the amount of power they can put out.
24:50There's a reason we keep comparing
24:52the other characters on this list to the Hulk.
25:00He sets a bar for strength that few heroes can ever hope to live up to.
25:04She-Hulk, The Thing, Abomination,
25:07they all wish they could get on Banner's level.
25:09So how does he do it? Simple.
25:11The madder Hulk gets, the stronger he gets.
25:14And he gets pretty mad.
25:16We've seen the Hulk throw temper tantrums
25:18that single-handedly beat down every other Marvel hero,
25:21sometimes all at once.
25:23He's beaten up everyone from Thor to Fin Fang Foom
25:26to Galactus himself.
25:37At his peak, Worldbreaker Hulk causes earthquakes when he walks
25:41and shatters planets with the sheer force of his fists.
25:47Now, some people are gonna be mad
25:49that Saitama's not number one on this list.
25:51Because, as the name One-Punch Man says,
25:54he defeats any opponent he faces with one punch.
26:00How can that not shoot him straight to the top?
26:03But, in terms of raw strength,
26:05Saitama hasn't technically proven himself the equal of even the Hulk.
26:09No, it's not Saitama's feats of strength that get him this high on the list.
26:12It's the way he does them.
26:14So casually.
26:21Like, he's not even trying that hard as he stops an asteroid
26:24or beats up a seemingly unstoppable monster.
26:26Makes you wonder, if this is him when he's bored,
26:29what would putting in actual effort look like?
26:36Ow!
26:44Darkseid is a cosmic warlord of unparalleled might.
26:47He is a literal new god whose strength defies comprehension.
26:51I will stride across their bones and bask in the glow of anti-life.
26:57And all of existence shall be mine.
27:03The ruler of Apocalypse,
27:05Darkseid's physical power can shatter planets and subdue the mightiest heroes.
27:09His Omega Beams, devastating energy blasts from his eyes,
27:13can hit speedsters and destroy worlds.
27:16He can take a punch from the Man of Steel and shrug it off as if it were nothing.
27:20Darkseid can swat buildings with ease
27:22and engage DC's most powerful characters in devastating hand-to-hand combat.
27:27This arsenal of powers and muscle,
27:29when coupled with his strategic brilliance and mastery of the anti-life equation,
27:33make Darkseid one of the most feared beings in the DC Universe.
27:37Anti-life is found, Asaad,
27:40and we will stop at nothing to possess it.
27:46Ready the Armada.
27:49We will use the old ways.
27:52Number 2, Goku, the Dragon Ball franchise.
27:55Goku is to anime what the Hulk is to superheroes.
28:03He's the yardstick by which all other examples of strength are compared.
28:07Sure, sometimes he meets an enemy stronger than him,
28:09but only until he screams enough to multiply his power with the next Super Saiyan level.
28:16It's hard to say exactly how strong that makes him,
28:21since he's usually fighting enemies strong enough to balance it out.
28:24But based on the sheer number of unfathomably powerful characters he has beaten,
28:29not to mention the planets they've blown up along the way,
28:31it's safe to say he belongs near the top.
