00:29Plans to turn Garstang Marina into a destination spot for tourists has taken a further step
00:34forward. Back in 2012, planning permission was granted for a new 28-pitch touring caravan
00:41park at Garstang Marina on Nateby Crossing Lane. Now the site, known as Nateby Fields
00:47Leisure Park, is home to a 23-pitch caravan park which is preparing to open later this
00:53year. In an update, the site owners A&R Chippendale submitted a new planning application to Wyre
01:00Council last week for the erection of a facilities building, ticket office and pumping station
01:07to serve the approved touring caravan development. A heroic youngster swung into action by bravely
01:15saving another child from probable drowning in the sea off Blackpool Beach. Bernice Matthews,
01:2112, was visiting the resort on a group trip with Warrington Youth Zone. Whilst on the
01:27beach, Bernice noticed a young boy, aged about only four, struggling in the water. With time
01:33being of the essence, the young visitor wasted no time in going to the rescue. Ashley Finn,
01:38Bernice's aunt, said,
01:40My niece saved the little boy's life. He must have been seconds away from drowning.
01:46Plans to convert a disused gym into two houses of multiple occupation for 14 people alongside
01:55six apartments in Wigan have been submitted. The building on Warrington Lane, close to
02:00the town centre, is the former headquarters of the Sea Cadets but has more recently been
02:05used as a gym and physiotherapy hub as JB Fitness. Plans would see the building converted
02:11into two residential units comprising seven beds each and a separate area for six flats,
02:18two one-bed and four two-bed.
02:22The owner of an award-winning Burnley Nail Salon has scooped another title to add to
02:27her growing collection. Harder's Nails Beauty and Training in Paddyham Road was named as
02:33Nail Salon of the Year North in the Nation's Hair and Beauty Awards 2024. Harder's Nail
02:40Salon owner, Lesley Lawrence, an experienced nail technician with over 25 years experience,
02:47said she was delighted to have won another award.
