How Manchester’s Paralympians have done so far

With the Paralympics now well under way, here is an update on all of the Manchester-based Paralympians to have competed so far.

Keep an eye out, because there is still lots more to come.

00:00The Paralympics are well underway now and we've got a pretty substantial group of talented
00:03Manchester-based athletes that are flying the flag for our city. Poppy Maskell has
00:06had a ridiculous start, she won a silver medal in the 200m freestyle, a gold in the mixed 4x100
00:11and a gold in the 100m butterfly, breaking the world record in the process. Ellie Chalice,
00:14as we're filming, Chalice is set to compete in the women's 50m backstroke final and is the firm
00:18favourite, having finished way quicker than anyone else in the heats. Grace Harvey is another swimmer
00:22who started brilliantly, winning gold in the 100m breaststroke and picking up fourth in the 200m
00:26individual medley. And Cameron Verncombe did a great job to reach the final of the men's 100m
00:30butterfly and still has the 200m medley to go. Greg Warburton, a member of the men's wheelchair
00:34basketball team, they've managed to win two from two. Laurie Williams is on the women's wheelchair
00:39basketball team and they've had a mixed start, winning one and losing two, but they've made
00:43it to the quarterfinals anyway. Matt Bush is the first of our three taekwondo competitors,
00:46he won gold in the K44 80kg category. Amy Truesdale also won gold in the K44 65kg category
00:54and Beth Monroe did herself proud to finish in seventh in the same category as Truesdale.
