00:00More than 1,000 families affected by the floods still remain at the evacuation center in Barangay Bagong Silangan in Quezon City.
00:09This is the story of Bien Manalo.
00:16Melanie Orencio cried when she told us what happened to her husband, Mr. Sakasagsaganang Bagyo.
00:23Her husband fell from the roof of their house in Tumana.
00:28While they were trying to save their belongings, he got hit in the neck.
00:33I asked him, what happened to your belongings?
00:36What happened to your life?
00:40My husband's head was hard.
00:43He was asking for this and that.
00:47Melanie was with her four children who escaped from the evacuation center.
00:52That's why she called for help.
00:54My house, sir.
00:55What happened to the roof?
00:57The roof of the Ulysses Park Arena until now.
01:00And the side of my house.
01:02It was all destroyed.
01:04I hope there are people who can help me.
01:07I am ready to accept.
01:09Melanie was one of the more than 1,000 families evacuated from Barangay Bagong Silangan in Quezon City
01:16because of the heavy rains caused by the storm Enteng and Habagat.
01:21According to the latest Barangay data,
01:23more than 1,000 families or more than 5,000 individuals
01:29are currently staying in the so-called evacuation centers.
01:34Yesterday, because of the constant rain,
01:37the flood reached up to 15 feet or equivalent to a house
01:42in Bagong Silangan because of the flooding of Marikina River.
01:46No one expected the flood to reach up to 15 feet.
01:49But despite the call of the barangay,
01:52there are still many residents who do not want to evacuate and leave their homes.
01:57We are trying to convince them because like last time,
02:01they are already shouting that they are already in Bobong.
02:03So as possible, as early as possible, our disaster is already revolving.
02:10Along with her five children,
02:12Marilyn Borabong eagerly lined up for the local government's free lunch.
02:18It's okay. We can just eat everyday.
02:21It's okay. We are just thankful that we can eat everyday.
02:26The help from the local government and various organizations continues to arrive.
02:32The Quezon City Disaster Reseduction and Management Office
02:37and the City Veterinary Department.
02:40This is a tragedy that happened to us.
02:43That's why it's really hard here in Barangay Bagong Silangan.
02:46We are always asking for help because maybe you can see
02:51what the residents are feeling.
02:54There is only one Barangay Bagong Silangan in five flood-prone areas in Lungsud
02:59such as Tumana, Rojas District, Apolonio-Samson, and Doña Imelda.
