00:00A mobile healthcare service is going to different parts of the Philippines
00:04to provide free medical assistance to all Filipino families.
00:10And now, we will be joined by its founder, Dr. Jim Sanchez,
00:16to give us more details about his hospital on wheels.
00:20Good morning, Dr. Jim. Welcome to Rise and Shine Philippines.
00:23Good morning, Doc.
00:25Good morning, Rise and Shine Philippines.
00:29This is Meiji and Audrey.
00:33Good morning.
00:34So, Doc. Jim.
00:35Good morning.
00:36Doc. Jim, you will continue your surgical, medical, dental, and vision screening mission
00:44in different parts of the country.
00:45Where will you go next?
00:49And what are the places that you are going to target?
00:54From September 20 to 23, we will be in Solana, Cagayan.
01:06Solana, Cagayan.
01:07Okay. Where else?
01:09From November 10 to November 12, we will be in Lopez, Quezon.
01:24After that, November 30 to December 3, we will be in San Jose, Nueva Ecija.
01:32You have a lot of schedules.
01:34Doc, I'm just curious.
01:36When did your hospital on wheels start?
01:40And how did you start here?
01:44It started in 2007.
01:48Since then, we have completed 412 missions.
01:56The main component of the hospital on wheels is its surgical component.
02:03We operate inside a bus.
02:07There are three operating tables.
02:09The operation is simultaneous.
02:12At the bottom, we set up tables.
02:17There are 10 simultaneous surgeries.
02:21Our operation has 12 surgeries simultaneously.
02:27We can do more than 100 surgeries per day.
02:33Doc, you mentioned that you have surgical, medical, and dental.
02:41What kind of surgeries can be done here in the hospital on wheels?
02:49And what kind of procedures can be done inside the bus?
02:57What's special about our surgery is that we have a lot of surgeries.
03:05For example, we have surgery for cancer, benign, and malignant.
03:10From head to toes.
03:12Even if it's a big one, we do it.
03:14Even for breast cancer.
03:17We also have a lot of procedures for children.
03:24And we also have revisions.
03:27If it's not done well, we do it again.
03:31We also fix deformities in the nose.
03:36For those with hernia, we also have a lot of procedures for hair loss.
03:42For children to adults, we do hair loss.
03:46And for those with skin cancer, we remove it and reconstruct it.
03:54And we also have a lot of reconstructive surgeries.
03:58And for dental, we have preventive, extraction, and fillings.
04:12Doc, is your medical mission in the hospital on wheels free?
04:19How is it possible for your services to be free?
04:23Because of course, you have to pay for it.
04:27Yes, for the patients, it's free.
04:30Our partners are local organizations.
04:36And we also have a foundation in America, Friends Who Cave.
04:42So the two help each other.
04:45The local partners, like for example, civic or religious organizations,
04:51and the local government, help with the missions.
04:58So it's a combination.
04:59And we also have individual philanthropists.
05:04Doc, for sure, our RSP members are curious.
05:09How is the surgery done inside the bus?
05:13What are the features of this facility?
05:19We have everything, including equipment.
05:23Quattro machines, surgical instruments, oxygen.
05:28We also have emergency measures.
05:31So whatever we see in the operating room, in the hospitals here,
05:36that's what we use there.
05:38So we can do the procedures safely.
05:42And as I told you, on average, twice a month,
05:48we do this all over the Philippines, mostly in Luzon.
05:55Don't worry, Meiji, you don't go under while you're operating.
05:58That's right.
05:59But we can see that the bus is really big.
06:02It's complete.
06:05Lastly, Doc, do you have a website for our countrymen
06:12to go to in case they visit their province?
06:19If you look at our Facebook and website,
06:22you will see Hospital on Wheels, Mission to Heal.
06:28You will see everything we do and our schedules.
06:34Hospital on Wheels, Mission to Heal.
06:38Thank you so much, Doc, for sharing your advocacy.
06:43Your heart is so kind to serve our countrymen.
06:48Once again, thank you so much, Doc Jim, and stay safe.
06:51Thank you, Doc.
06:53May God bless the rise and shine of the Philippines.
