Langkah tersebut menjadi bukti komitmen Pemerintah dalam membangun ekosistem baterai kendaraan listrik di Tanah Air.
Meski demikian, untuk membangun ekosistem baterai kendaraan listrik di Indonesia membutuhkan dana dan investasi yang tidak sedikit. PT Industri Baterai Indonesia atau Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) mengungkapkan, setidaknya dibutuhkan anggaran hingga mencapai USD6 miliar. Jumlah kebutuhan penanaman modal tersebut, untuk memproduksi baterai kendaraan listrik yang mencakup infrastruktur dari hulu ke hilir.
Indonesia juga tengah menjalin kerja sama di sektor energi, terutama di bidang mineral kritis dengan negara-negara Afrika, guna mendukung pengembangan ekosistem baterai kendaraan listrik. Sebab, untuk memproduksi baterai kendaraan listrik, Indonesia membutuhkan banyak mineral kritis yang tidak terbatas hanya nikel saja.
