00:00The Department of Justice insisted that the former Bamban Mayor, Alice Guwo, should remain in the custody of the Immigration Department.

00:11It's a big discussion now, who and where should former Bamban Tarlac Mayor, Alice Guwo, be imprisoned.

00:17Because the investigations against her are already left and right.

00:21But the Department of Justice insisted that Guwo should remain in the custody of the Bureau of Immigration.

00:28Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulia said that the cases against her are a violation of immigration law.

00:35If there is someone who should be detained by Alice Guwo, it should be the Bureau of Immigration.

00:43Because an immigration case takes precedence over everything.

00:50If we're going to prove it, an immigration case should take precedence over everything.

01:09Guwo is facing the Bureau of Immigration in the case of violating the Philippine Passport Act,

01:20But if the custody is only discussed, these cases will become more serious because it's non-bailable.

01:27The DOJ is also worried that Guwo might be able to return to the Tarlac Regional Trial Court.

01:33Because the Ombudsman has filed an anti-graft and corruption case against the former mayor in the so-called court.

01:40She would be more influential in that area, which is within her sphere of influence.

01:45Because she's the mayor of a town in the province where she's being taken as a detainee.

01:52That's why I have a discomfort right from the start about this.

01:57Meanwhile, one of Alice Guwo's colleagues, Cassandra Lee Ong,

02:02has already gone to the Supreme Court so that she won't be forced to speak in front of the camera.

02:08In a petition for certiorari filed by her camp,

02:11they are asking to recognize the invocation of Ong's right against self-incrimination.

02:17There are things that, in our opinion, go against the constitutional rights of our client, Ms. Cassandra Lee Ong.

02:26That's what we are stopping, especially our invocation of the right to remain silent

02:33and the right against self-incrimination.

02:35We are just asking for the recognition of each camera.
