00:00All this baseball and we're not even at the playoffs yet.
00:03We got about three weeks to go in the regular season
00:05and a lot is going to be determined.
00:07The wild card races in the AL,
00:09probably not all that exciting.
00:10In the NL, it's gonna be great to watch down the stretch.
00:14NL East counterparts, the Atlanta Braves
00:16and the New York Mets battling for that final spot.
00:18Maybe the Cubs, your dubsy, can sneak into it,
00:21but it's always all eyes on the prize
00:24and numbers haven't changed all that much.
00:26The Dodgers are the favorite to win the World Series,
00:28followed by the Philadelphia Phillies,
00:30which I think makes some sense.
00:31The two best teams in baseball to me,
00:33the Dodgers and the Phillies,
00:34followed by the Yankees and the Orioles.
00:36Those two teams still battling who's going to win
00:39and have that supremacy in the AL East,
00:41followed by the Astros, Guardians,
00:43Padres, Twins, Brewers, and Braves.
00:45So let's just start here.
00:46I found it interesting all season long.
00:48The Dodgers had a three to one price,
00:50the Phillies had a plus 480.
00:51I do think these are both two of the best teams in baseball
00:54which just happened to reside in the NL.
00:57Let me ask you this question.
00:58The number one overall seed,
01:00the Phillies currently have a one game lead
01:01over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
01:03Does it change your opinion on the Dodgers, dubsy,
01:06if they don't get that number one overall seed
01:08or you say, no, it's just what it is.
01:10They'll have the number two seed.
01:11Both of these teams will get buys
01:13and I'm not worried about it.
01:14Yeah, I'm not so worried about it, Donnie.
01:17I guess I'm more worried about the inconsistency,
01:19whether they get that top spot, that one seed or not.
01:23It's more, you know, some of the starting arms,
01:24the rotation, they're going to have to get healthy.
01:27They're going to have to try to find a bit of momentum.
01:29We saw Yamamoto, mate,
01:30he's returned there on Tuesday night.
01:31Dave Roberts, absolutely going to love
01:33what he saw there from the star race.
01:35But for the Dodgers sitting at the shortest price
01:38at plus 300, I think that's a little short.
01:40I think the Phillies are playing some really good baseball
01:42at plus 480 and the pinstripes there at five to one.
01:45Donnie, I feel like, yeah, I wish I could go back in time.
01:48You know, we spend months talking about
01:50some of the futures tickets in major league baseball.
01:52They play 162 games and they are still getting
01:55the same numbers as what we started with.
01:57You know, the Dodgers at plus 300,
01:59you're getting a better number
02:00than what the Yankees were sitting there.
02:02So if you do like their chances,
02:03now's the time to jump in.
02:05But no, I wouldn't be deterred for the Dodgers
02:07if they don't get that one seed.
02:09They're still going to have to go through the Supremos
02:11in the National League.
02:12But more about that consistency
02:14and trying to find a bit of momentum.
02:16I feel like we take a couple of steps forward
02:18and then we take one back.
02:20A couple of steps forward and then we take one back.
02:22The offense just goes missing at times.
02:24Otani can only do so much.
02:26There's question marks, Hernandez,
02:28Mookie's been seen, and well, Freddie Freeman.
02:29So no, I wouldn't be too turned off
02:32if they weren't to grab that one seed.
02:34But I want to see a bit more from between now
02:36and getting it into the house there at October at plus 300.
02:40That is a really short price for a team
02:42that's loaded with superstars,
02:43but also loaded with a couple of blemishes.
02:47Yeah, and the questions right now, right?
02:49I think there's more questions
02:50with the Dodgers than the Phillies.
02:52And it's always those questions come up
02:53in the starting rotation to see how that rotation
02:55actually will be in come October.
02:57But if we're all looking at the teams
02:59in the three and four spots here,
03:00and technically the Astros are tied with the Orioles.
03:03And you say like, wow, how could that be?
03:04You have to understand how the playoff works here
03:07and why these odds are here.
03:08And we just talked about if the Philadelphia Phillies
03:10get that number one overall seed
03:11and have the home field advantage in Philadelphia,
03:14that could make a difference.
03:15But also take a look at the Yankees and the Orioles.
03:17The Yankees are a five to one price to win the World Series.
03:19The Orioles at an eight to one.
03:21The reason why it's decided right now as $3 price
03:24is you're looking right now in the standings.
03:26Even though it's only a half game,
03:27the Yankees still have the lead here in the AL East.
03:30If they win,
03:31then they're gonna be able to probably get that buy.
03:33And that's going to help them where then the Orioles
03:35would have to go on the road,
03:36which is exactly why, Dubzy,
03:38there's an eight to one price on the Orioles and the Astros.
03:41The Astros look like they're going to win their division,
03:43which will give them home field advantage
03:45in round number one.
03:46That's a key ingredient here.
03:48But let's have some fun down the list.
03:49The Guardians, 15 to one.
03:51The Padres, 16 to one.
03:52Twins, 21 to one.
03:53And then the Brewers and the Braves, both at 22 to one.
03:57If I had to give you a team,
03:58Guardians, Padres, Twins, Brewers, or Braves,
04:01who do you think could do more damage in the playoffs
04:04and at those prices?
04:05I think it's the Padres at 16 to one.
04:07They absolutely stacked Manny Machado.
04:09He's leading the way.
04:11Fernando Tatis Jr.
04:12He's looked very strong since coming back.
04:13And some of the arms are starting to step up.
04:16It's really tough going down into San Diego.
04:18So I think they could have a nice little run
04:19going in to October.
04:21So it's the price play.
04:22Who could rattle some of the big contenders in the majors?
04:24I think San Diego playing some really nice baseball,
04:27six and four through the last 10.
04:29I think they find a bit of momentum
04:30over the next couple of weeks here.
04:31So that'd be the price play
04:32if you're looking to play against the short numbers.
04:36Yeah, I think also it's interesting, like the Brewers.
04:38The Brewers always seem to be dubsy,
04:39get left out of the equation.
04:41Because you have to understand, just like the Astros,
04:43if you're not thinking of them like long-term,
04:45like I don't know if they can win the World Series,
04:47but they're gonna be placed in a good spot.
04:49Because again, when you win the division,
04:51the first round is in your building regardless.
04:54And that's going to be a big number moving forward.
04:56So if you say, I don't know if the Brewers
04:58can win the World Series per se,
05:00but I think they're gonna win a series or two,
05:02you can turn that 22 to one price
05:03once they get to the playoffs
05:05into some cold hard cash in your back pocket.
05:08These numbers, they're gonna change on a day-to-day basis.
05:10It's our job here at the Sports Grid Network
05:12to keep you involved and updated here
05:14when those changes happen.
05:15Ah, one of our favorite segments here on the early line
05:18by Ursel, we ask some questions here
05:20that who's gonna make the playoffs?
05:22Who has a chance to do damage in the playoffs?
05:24Always a lot of fun here at Stubbs Anderson.
05:26Donnie Wright's out on a Wednesday morning
05:28right here on the Sports Grid Network.
05:29Now, we love football.
05:31We are entrenched in football season,
05:33even if it's just one week in the NFL.
05:35But the one thing we have to understand is
05:36there's a lot of things happening from April,
05:39May, June, July, August, into September,
05:41which leads us to October baseball.
05:44And boy, oh boy, playoffs in any sport,
05:46absolutely the most fun you can have,
05:49hopefully profitable as well.
05:51But we got some questions that we have to answer here.
05:53And if we look at the Major League Baseball
05:55wildcard standings in each league,
05:58if it ended today, the teams that would be in the playoffs,
06:01it would be the Orioles, the Twins,
06:03and the Royals in the AL.
06:04If we're looking in the NL,
06:06it would be the Padres, Braves, Diamondbacks, and Mets.
06:09And you might say, well, how is there four teams?
06:10There's only three wildcard spots.
06:12Two teams are tied here.
06:13That's the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves.
06:16Now the question is going to be,
06:18if you do make the playoffs as a wildcard
06:21and you do get hot,
06:22is there a possibility that a wildcard team
06:25can take down a World Series Championship?
06:28So Dubsy, I'm going to start with you first
06:31in this buy or sell.
06:32Wildcard team will reach the world, not even win it,
06:35just reach the World Series this year for you.
06:38Buy in or sell in that?
06:40Buy, buy, buy.
06:42And it's all about the Kansas City Royals
06:44getting set to rumble at plus 1100.
06:48You know, at the pointy end of the season,
06:49October fast approaching, you need to know the schedule.
06:52And I think it lines up pretty favorable here
06:54for Kansas City.
06:55They'll take on the Pirates,
06:57not with a lot to play for in that next series.
06:58Then they welcome in Detroit
07:00and the Giants into their ballpark.
07:02Then they go on the road to take on the Nationals.
07:04So I think all things are shaping up
07:06for the Royals to make a bit of a run.
07:07It wasn't at October back in 2014,
07:10a little 10-year anniversary,
07:12when they found that momentum.
07:14I think it may have been there, Donnie.
07:15And look, the arms are starting to find
07:17a bit of stride here as well.
07:18Cole Reagans has been strong.
07:19Seth Luger put up a masterpiece there on Tuesday evening.
07:23They've got the firepower.
07:24Bobby Witt Jr., one of the most exciting,
07:27one of the most exciting weapons
07:28in all the majors right now.
07:30Tommy Pham in the mix.
07:31So I think Kansas City could certainly do enough
07:33to make it into October and could do enough
07:35to rattle a couple of the big contenders.
07:37And I dare say, make a little World Series tilt, Donnie.
07:40So it's the price play for me with Kansas City.
07:44Yeah, you see those price points out there too.
07:46It's the Orioles, Twins, and Royals,
07:48plus 340, plus 850, and 11-to-1.
07:50There are big price point and disparities between those
07:52because there is still a chance that the Orioles
07:55can win the AL East, which would take them
07:56out of that wildcard and put them in better standing.
07:59So that's sort of a factor that goes into it.
08:00The one thing that we do look at,
08:02and for me, I would buy it as well.
08:03And here's the reason.
08:05When typically wildcard teams make the playoffs,
08:08you say, well, they're not as good as the teams
08:09that led their divisions
08:10and certainly have number one overall seeds.
08:12And I would agree with that.
08:13But as we know, Dubzy, just like playing a golf game,
08:16when you are on your game and you are grinding
08:18on a week-to-week basis here,
08:20you're probably gonna be better off
08:21than the guy that goes, ah, parachute in
08:22for every three or four weeks to play a tournament.
08:25The reason we bring that up in Major League Baseball
08:27is if you're fighting for that final playoff spot, Dubzy,
08:29over the final couple of weeks,
08:30you're already in playoff mode.
08:32You are already locked and loaded
08:34knowing every day you go to the ballpark,
08:36you gotta win this game,
08:37and you're playing on an everyday basis.
08:39You take a look at some of the teams
08:40that are seven, eight, nine, 10 games lead
08:43in their division, what do they do, Dubzy,
08:45down the stretch, the final week of the season?
08:47Let's take some time off, let's rehab our bodies,
08:49let's set our pitching rotations.
08:51We're not even gonna play the first round of the playoffs
08:53for the two teams that have the buys,
08:55and then you just parachute back in
08:57and have to flip that switch
08:58when you're gonna play a wildcard team
09:01that's already been in grind mode,
09:02that's already won a playoff series,
09:04and is ready to do battle right out of the gate,
09:06and you can surprise them as the higher-seeded team.
09:09So it's always fun to watch it work out,
09:10and quite frankly, in the past couple years
09:12with the wildcard that we have,
09:14you do see some of those upsets in those early rounds,
09:16and we expect that to happen this year.
09:18So yeah, I'll buy a wildcard team
09:20can make it to the World Series this year.
09:22Let's keep it in Major League Baseball,
09:24other hot topics, the National League,
09:26and yes, the wildcard race is heating up,
09:28and that's a big topic, but how about Rookie of the Year?
09:31It's coming down to two people.
09:32It's Jackson Merrill, and it's Paul Skeens.
09:34Look at Paul Skeens on the season.
09:36If you would have told me this day in September
09:40that Paul Skeens is gonna have a 10-2 record,
09:42he's gonna be 2.10 for his ERA, and 151 strikeouts,
09:47and he's not the odds-on favorite
09:49to be the actual NL Rookie of the Year, that's crazy.
09:54So I'm gonna ask you this question, Dubsy.
09:55By yourself, Paul Skeens would be
09:58an all-time Rookie of the Year snub
10:01if he does not win Rookie of the Year this year?
10:04I'm buying.
10:05I think it would be an all-time snub.
10:07I think it will be an all-time snub.
10:10Look, obviously, the star power is gonna be there
10:12behind Paul Skeens.
10:12Truly remarkable season,
10:14what we've seen there from the rookie,
10:16and again, he just set a new record there.
10:18Most Ks were Rookie.
10:19We're in that Pirates uni.
10:20So look, cannot knock what we have seen,
10:22but for Jackson Merrill down there with the Padres,
10:25we get to see what he's doing on the nightly.
10:27So since the All-Star break,
10:28we've seen a massive jump in the market.
10:30It was Skeens at minus 1,200,
10:33and now he's the outsider looking in,
10:35and I think it's a little too late
10:36in trying to play catch-up.
10:37No knock towards Paul Skeens.
10:39Truly special stuff from what we have seen,
10:42but again, I think the longevity of the season
10:45leans towards Jackson Merrill and the Padres,
10:47and you look at the numbers
10:48that he's put up, absolutely monster year there as well.
10:51So gonna go with Merrill,
10:52and I do think it would be an all-time snub
10:55for possibly the next generational talent
10:57coming in to the Bigs, Donnie.
11:00Yeah, a pitcher can only do so much,
11:01which I know it's incredible about this.
11:03Like, the Pittsburgh Pirates
11:04aren't going to make the playoffs,
11:05which is a problem why Jackson Merrill
11:07does get a little bit of a bump,
11:08but the Pirates as a team are under .500.
11:11Paul Skeens is 10-2.
11:12Like, think about that.
11:13My baseball team's under .500,
11:14but when I go out there and pitch,
11:15I'm 10-2 overall with that ERA.
11:18It's phenomenal.
11:19Now also, if you're looking at some of those numbers today
11:21at the FanDuel Sportsbook,
11:23they continue to drop.
11:24Like yesterday, on a day-to-day basis,
11:26obviously these numbers will change.
11:27Skeens, whenever he has a good pitching performance,
11:29will move up, and Jackson Merrill,
11:31if he doesn't hit a game-winning home run,
11:32he's going to move down.
11:33We opened the show today, Dubsy,
11:35at the FanDuel Sportsbook.
11:36Jackson Merrill was a minus 400 price to win this award.
11:40As it sits right now, almost two hours into the show,
11:42he's now a minus 370 price with Paul Skeens a plus 260.
11:47And it looks like both of those guys
11:48will be fighting for this,
11:49but also what comes into the equation now is,
11:52we know, barring injury,
11:53Jackson Merrill's going to play down the stretch
11:55because they need him to be in that lineup
11:57for the possibility of winning that wild card.
11:59Paul Skeens and the Pittsburgh Pirates,
12:01they don't need him down the stretch here
12:03to not make the playoffs.
12:05So the question's going to be is,
12:06how many more innings is Paul Skeens
12:08actually going to get on the mound?
12:09How many more wins can he rack up in strikeouts here?
12:12Because if you can't pitch and they don't let you pitch,
12:14there's no more wins, there's no more strikeouts,
12:16there's no more lowering that ERA.
12:18We'll find out here, but Jackson Merrill right now,
12:20a minus 370 price to win that award
12:22at the FanDuel Sportsbook.
12:24Interesting stuff all the way through.
12:26A lot more hot topics in Major League Baseball,
12:28which includes the next segment,
12:30keep it going in By Yourself.
12:32It's Donnie and Dub on a Wednesday morning
12:34right here on the Sports Script Network.
12:35We will be right back.
12:37Oh, this is a good By Yourself topic right now
12:39to end out our number two, get involved in this one.
12:42We see it in the past.
12:43I want to set the table for this.
12:44And I always get a kick out of this.
12:46It's very easy for Major League Baseball players,
12:49NFL players, and hockey players,
12:50just to say the right things
12:51in front of the microphone, Dubsy,
12:53as opposed to saying, you know what,
12:55let me let my true feelings out here.
12:56Because the one thing we know is
12:58they're put on a pedestal, and rightfully so.
13:01Superstar athletes, kids look up to them.
13:02Everybody's cheering for them.
13:03You want them to stay with your team,
13:05and you want them to do well.
13:06But also, Dubsy, you want them to be there, right?
13:08We know the money is going to be the money.
13:10I still get a kick out of last year.
13:11Aaron Judge, one of the best players
13:13in Major League Baseball, and quite frankly,
13:15when it all goes down, who'll be a Yankees legend,
13:17he was asked directly, microphone in his face,
13:20I believe at the all-star break,
13:22hey, look, Yankees fans love you.
13:24What do you have to say to them?
13:25He basically said, well, I'm here, great.
13:27If I'm not, there's other Yankee players
13:28you can cheer for.
13:30Not what the fan base wants to hear,
13:31because it's simple to say, I love being a Yankee.
13:34I want to be here long-term.
13:36My goal is to retire a New York Yankee,
13:38because even if it doesn't happen,
13:40at least you get the good vibes in there,
13:41and maybe the public can sway the opinion
13:44for your hometown owner to pay you
13:45just a little bit more money than everybody else
13:48to get you to stay.
13:49So if we're talking about Juan Soto,
13:50here's what he told ESPN yesterday.
13:52Quote, who doesn't want to be a part of Yankees history?
13:56I think the only way to be a part of Yankees history
13:58is being a champion.
14:00Now, does that actually mean
14:01if I win a World Series this year,
14:03I'm part of Yankees history,
14:04now let me get paid by my crosstown rival,
14:06New York Mets, because they'll pay me more money?
14:08So the buy or sell here for us is,
14:11will Juan Soto be a New York Yankee next season?
14:14Which means, Dubsy, he's probably gonna get paid
14:16north of a $500 million contract.
14:21Is he a New York Yankee next year, buy or sell?
14:24Yes, Juan Soto is gonna be back in the pinch drive.
14:27He's gonna get the bag.
14:27We know for Scott Boris,
14:28always pushing to have his players hit that free agency.
14:32And I guess, you know, slugging alongside Aaron Judge,
14:35this is, you know, it truly is a gift for us sports fans.
14:38A couple of generational talents there for the one outfit.
14:41And what's working for Juan Soto in his favor?
14:44He's still only 26 years of age.
14:46He has made every post a winner in New York this year.
14:50It looks like he's absolutely loving things
14:51in the clubhouse as well.
14:53You've got a lot of durability.
14:54There's no real concern towards injury or talent
14:58or a drop off there on that side of things.
14:59So it's gonna be quite the bidding war
15:01once we hit the off season.
15:03But I do believe Juan Soto will be back there
15:05for the pinch drive.
15:06So look at all the moves that they did make
15:08at the deadline then.
15:09Everything points towards the Brian Cashman.
15:11He's planning towards the future.
15:14And I think that future in New York for the Yankees,
15:17not the Mets, includes Juan Soto.
15:19But it's gonna be a hot off season to say the least, Donny.
15:23No, you're, so, and again, the quote,
15:25it's kind of funny to me
15:26because he sort of says the right thing, right?
15:28He said, I wanna be a part of Yankees history,
15:29which means being a champion.
15:31So if he does win this year,
15:32he is in Yankees history and a champion.
15:34And they can say, well, I did my part here.
15:36I wanna move on and sign with another team,
15:38which will be tough on the Yankees.
15:39They gave up a pretty decent package to get Juan Soto.
15:42Obviously, if he's going to be high up in the MVP standings
15:45and then they are gonna win a championship,
15:47if you are the Yankees, you do wanna bring him back.
15:49But there are a lot of deep pocketed owners,
15:52which includes a team right in your own city
15:54that would love to steal the headlines
15:56and the back pages on New York papers and say,
15:59we got Juan Soto away from our rival here.
16:02So buy yourself from me.
16:03You know who his agent is, right?
16:05It's Scott Bortz.
16:06He doesn't care about loyalty.
16:08He's just all about the almighty dollar.
16:10And even if the New York Mets offered $1 more
16:14than the Yankees,
16:14he'd probably have his client go to the New York Mets
16:16because why?
16:17It's one more dollar that he can make in that environment.
16:20I don't know if he's going to leave the Yankees,
16:23but if you're asking right now, buy or sell,
16:25somebody's gonna come out of the woodwork
16:26with such a ton of money,
16:28and it could be the New York Mets
16:30that they could sway his opinion
16:31and Scott Bortz will certainly push him over
16:33in that direction.
16:34So for me, I'm gonna sell it.
16:36Juan Soto will be a Yankee next year?
16:37I'm not buying, I'm selling at this point.
16:39It'll be interesting to watch it play out,
16:41but getting back here, Dubzy, to my original point,
16:43why is it so hard for some people just to say,
16:46like Juan Soto could say, from the minute I got here,
16:49put on those pinstripes the first time,
16:51I wanted to say to myself, I'm gonna retire a Yankee.
16:54Those physical dollars will appear in the off season,
16:57we'll make that right.
16:58Right now, I wanna win a world championship,
17:00I wanna retire a Yankee, and even if he doesn't,
17:03you buy extra time with the fans
17:05and put the pressure on the ownership's groups.
17:07That's all he should be saying here, Dubzy, come on.
17:10Loyalty, loyalty, it's in my DNA.
17:12Was that Kendrick Lamar or was it Juan Soto?
17:15These professional athletes, Donnie,
17:17they're not playing for the patch
17:19on front of the jersey anymore,
17:20they're playing for the name on the back,
17:22and all they care about is making a fast buck.
17:24But hey, I do think the pinstripes
17:26have a really good chance of retaining that signature.
17:29Would it be enough to win a World Series?
17:30Would that be enough to bring Juan Soto back to the Yankees
17:34for another season into the future at, what, 500 mil plus?
17:38Geez, I wish I was better at baseball, Donnie,
17:40that's all I can say.
17:42Darren Judge, Juan Soto, the one thing we do know, Dubzy,
17:45they ain't like us, and that's for sure.
17:47Our number three on tech at this point, coming up,
17:51more NFL action, it's Dubz's Donnie,
17:53but good times roll along, don't miss out,
17:55we'll be right back here on The Grid.
17:57Welcome back into the early line,
17:59Dubz Anderson alongside Donnie Rhineside.
18:01Time to take a look at what's on tap for you.
18:03Baseball betters going in to Wednesday afternoon,
18:06it's the Texas Rangers looking to rumble,
18:08going against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
18:10It's expected to be a hot afternoon,
18:12Donnie, out there at Chase Field,
18:15100 plus and counting, Cody Bradford gets out there
18:18on the hill for the Rangers, the big lefty,
18:20and Merrill Kelly gets to toe the slab here
18:23for the Diamondbacks.
18:24Taking a look at the numbers,
18:25it's Arizona minus 152 there on the money line,
18:29with that total sitting right around eight and a half.
18:32You know what's gonna be tough about this one?
18:34Yesterday, you saw a great pitching performance
18:36out of Zach Allen, right?
18:37Six to nothing victory, that's what you're supposed to do.
18:39The haves and the have-nots, as we talk about it,
18:41Texas isn't going to make the playoffs,
18:42Arizona looks like they will do that.
18:44Now this is an afternoon game, 340 start,
18:46which is actually out there, what, 1240 Pacific time?
18:49If we line this game up, Merrill Kelly,
18:52not the same pitcher as what you're getting
18:53from Zach Allen yesterday.
18:55Take a look at this, Dubsy,
18:56his last 105 batters that he's faced,
18:58his ISO power number, 289, ridiculously high,
19:01weighted on base percentage, 414,
19:03an equal opportunity, Dubsy,
19:05lefty and righty batters getting the best of them.
19:07But here's the issue, that's not a great lineup right now
19:10for the Texas Rangers,
19:11particularly up against right-handed pitching
19:12over the past month.
19:13You take a look at Wyatt Lankford,
19:15Adolis Garcia, and Ezekiel Duran, all positive numbers.
19:18Everybody else is below average.
19:20Now let's flip it over to the Texas side of things
19:22of who they're starting on the mound.
19:23That's Cody Bradford, theoretically on the card today,
19:26he's a much better pitcher than Merrill Kelly is.
19:28Bradford coming into this one, 3.80 ERA
19:32over the past 60 days, and his exit number,
19:34manageable at 3.90.
19:36Merrill Kelly, on the other hand,
19:38through 28 and two-thirds innings, pitched a 5.72 ERA.
19:42But if we're also looking at Cody Bradford,
19:44left-handed pitcher, he's been really good here, Dubsy,
19:47against right-handed batters as of late.
19:49On the season, it's a 141 ISO power number.
19:52Over the last 30 days, that dropped to a 121.
19:55The one thing we do know is a lot of switch hitters
19:57in that lineup for the Arizona Diamondbacks,
19:59due to the primary numbers,
20:00will be against right-handed batters.
20:01The only lefties look like Corbin Carroll and Jake McCarthy.
20:04So seven right-handed batters,
20:06two left-handed batters in this lineup.
20:08I might be looking at this game
20:09and actually thinking about an under here,
20:12because I think the pitching matchups make some sense.
20:14Not a great pitcher on the side for Arizona,
20:15not a great lineup for the Rangers.
20:17A much better lineup for the Diamondbacks,
20:19but Bradford does pitch well to right-handed batters.
20:22Let's go under in the desert this afternoon.
20:25Could be a low scorer out there
20:27for a hot one this afternoon.
20:29Speaking of low scorers,
20:30let's take it to a pitcher's paradise up there in Seattle.
20:33It's the Mariners at home, taking on the Padres.
20:36Last night, it was the Padres getting it done seven to three,
20:38and they'll get Michael King
20:40out there on the Hill this afternoon.
20:42Brian Wu gets the stand for the Mariners.
20:43Brian Wu with a seven-two win-loss, 2-3-6 ERA.
20:48Not expected to see a lot of offense in this one,
20:51but looks to be one of the closest games of the afternoon.
20:54The odds makers have it set as a pick-em,
20:56with that total being just at six and a half runs.
21:00Yeah, this is like a playoff atmosphere, right, Dubsy?
21:02You need San Diego to win
21:03if they want to stay in that wildcard race
21:04and certainly make the playoffs.
21:05But also, from a Seattle Mariners perspective,
21:08you're almost looking at that last Hail Mary
21:10to try to overtake the Houston Astros.
21:12But you're right about it.
21:13Look at that price point.
21:14Six and a half on this game,
21:15which means seven runs win this.
21:17You're not even getting that buffer,
21:18at least seven or seven and a half,
21:19to push that closer to that eight, eight and a half number
21:22that you would need to get over.
21:23You take a look at Michael King.
21:24Nothing short of sensation here, Dubsy.
21:26Last 60 days of Major League Baseball,
21:28five and two record, 45 and two-thirds innings pitch.
21:30But look at this, an ERA of 2.36,
21:33and the second-best pitcher on the card today
21:35with his XFIP at a 3.07.
21:37You flip it over to the other side and you say,
21:39well, what am I gonna get out of Brian Wu
21:40for the Seattle Mariners?
21:41He's four and one over the past 60 days
21:43with 58 and a third innings pitch.
21:46How about his ERA?
21:472.78 and a very manageable 3.67 XFIP number.
21:51So it is low.
21:52Both of the lineups are decent,
21:54but this is a pitching paradise.
21:55As we like to say, they got 10 runs combined last night.
21:58I don't think we get here.
22:00But here's the tough part about it.
22:01Donnie, if you had a free bet,
22:02which way would you go here on the total?
22:06I still probably would go under six and a half,
22:07but my goodness, man, you're sweating it out,
22:10WZ at three, two, three, three.
22:11It's an automatic over going to extras.
22:13It's tough to do.
22:14But as we say, those numbers are there for a reason.
22:16I would be surprised if we go near eight to nine runs,
22:19which puts you in the ballpark for an under.
22:21But six or less, that's sometimes a tough draw, man.
22:25Scores like that, Donnie,
22:26we expect to see them on a Saturday morning
22:28in the English Premier League,
22:29but that's what we're accustomed to up there
22:31in Seattle at T-Mobile Park.
22:33Let's take it up to Toronto.
22:35It's the Blue Jays playing host again here,
22:37going against the Mets.
22:38One team with plenty to play for,
22:40the other in the Blue Jays, not so much.
22:42Both arms have been pretty strong
22:44from what we have seen leading back in for this one.
22:47Manea will get the start for the Mets there,
22:49and they're listed as your favorites.
22:51Minus 120 on the money line.
22:52That total sitting at eight.
22:54It was eight runs last night.
22:55It was five in game one.
22:56What do we expect for game three, Donnie?
22:59WZ, I got 25 pitchers on my card today
23:01that I have rated here over the past 60 days, right?
23:03If we're looking at these two pitchers today,
23:05they actually come in number six
23:06and number seven on the board.
23:08So competitive pitching matchup.
23:10If we look at Bowden Francis,
23:11five and two over the past 60 days, 48 innings pitched.
23:14Look at this ERA, 1.88 and an X-fifth number of 3.54.
23:19Sean Manea has been very good for the New York Mets
23:22over the last 60 days for him.
23:23Dovesy, six and two record here, 68 innings pitched,
23:26a 3.44 ERA, but a 3.60 X-fifth.
23:30So look at those two X-fifths, 3.54, 3.60.
23:33We're expecting good performances out of both sides.
23:35Now, if you want to say the Mets need to win this game
23:38more than the Toronto Blue Jays,
23:39sure, that's a question mark there, of course,
23:41that needs to be answered.
23:42And we think the Mets should win this game.
23:44But having said that, they should have won that game
23:46last night and weren't able to do that.
23:48If, again, we're playing in a playoff atmosphere today,
23:51the Mets just need to win at all costs.
23:53I'm probably just going to look here, Dovesy,
23:55under the total once again.
23:56These two pitchers coming in pretty good form.
23:59The Nationals, Donnie, this one,
24:01feeling like a playoff spot.
24:04I don't know about that, but in the division,
24:05we keep a National League East showdown
24:07between the Braves going against the Nats here.
24:09Both arms sort of middling form
24:11for what we have seen going through the regular season.
24:14It was the Braves giving them an absolute beat down
24:16last night, 12 to nothing, blanking the Nationals
24:19in their book dish of favorites again for this one,
24:21minus 176.
24:23Is the juice worth the squeeze with Atlanta?
24:27I think it probably is.
24:28You saw yesterday, like your starting pitcher
24:29gets knocked out in, you know, the first inning
24:32and you still end up winning that game by double digits
24:33and shut out the Washington Nationals.
24:35So it's clear, you really need a victory,
24:37like we just talked about the New York Mets.
24:38They really need a victory to stay in it
24:40with the Atlanta Braves.
24:41You take a look at Max Freed.
24:42How about this though?
24:43Two and four over the past 60 days
24:45through 45 and two thirds innings pitches.
24:47ERA, it's not terrible, 3.74.
24:50There's a better ex-vict number at 3.39.
24:53So maybe there would be the leader.
24:54You look at that lineup, Harris, Soler, Ozuna, Olsen, Murphy,
24:57they really produced runs yesterday.
24:59And I'm sort of expecting the same thing.
25:0280 degree temperatures today in Washington.
25:04It is a heavy price, but I'm gonna go with the team
25:06that absolutely needs to win
25:07and is the better pitcher on the mound.
25:09Give me the Atlanta Braves saying a victory over the Nats.
25:12Oh, I like it.
25:14We're taking a break.
25:15Baseball Talk continues on the other side.
25:17Welcome back into the early line.
25:18The Baseball Talk continues.
25:20For your Wednesday slate, it's the Royals.
25:22Looking to rock and roll in the series rubber match
25:25going against the Pinstripes.
25:26The Yankees at home for this one.
25:28Look to be your favorites.
25:29They get Luis Hill out there on the mound.
25:32The rookie sensation, minus 152 towards the Pinstripes.
25:35With that total set at eight,
25:37how does the series finish this afternoon, Donnie?
25:40I think that price is too high here, Dubzy,
25:42to pay a minus 158 on the New York Yankees.
25:44Now granted, you're gonna get that Yankee tax.
25:45They're at home.
25:46They need a victory.
25:47They gotta stay on top of the Baltimore Royals.
25:48We get that.
25:49But also, the Kansas City Royals,
25:50great performance yesterday
25:51out of their starting pitcher, Seth Lugo.
25:53And I think we might get another solid performance today.
25:55You take a look at Cole Reagan,
25:56six and three over his past 60 days
25:58with 57 and two-thirds innings pitch
26:00and a very manageable X-fifth number of 3.70.
26:04That can't be said here, technically, for Luis Hill,
26:06who started out the season absolutely incredible.
26:09And the thought process wasn't like,
26:10hey, can he win rookie of the year?
26:11It's, could he be the Cy Young?
26:13But since then, if we're looking at the last 60 days,
26:15he's still four and one
26:16through 34 and two-thirds innings pitch.
26:19But if we're looking at his X-fifth number,
26:21that's at a 4.45, getting into that danger zone.
26:24And if we take a look at the last 60 batters
26:25that he faced, Dubzy, a 220 ISO and a 350
26:28weighted on base percentage as a whole
26:30between lefties and righties.
26:31And lefty batters really getting the best of them
26:34at a 219 ISO, but a 368 weighted on base percentage.
26:37Positive batters in this lineup today,
26:39Bobby Wood Jr., MJ Melendez, and Paul DeJong.
26:42If we flip it over to the other side,
26:43that was a shocking performance
26:45yesterday from the Yankee bats.
26:46I understand Lugo's been a quality pitcher,
26:48but come on, man, you gotta get something together.
26:50But Cole Reagan has really good splits
26:52between lefties and righties.
26:54The first three batters in the lineup tonight
26:56for the New York Yankees over the past 30 days
26:58against left-handed pitching, they've hammered it.
27:00Torres, Soto, and Judge,
27:02they have to be the catalyst tonight.
27:03Three hits yesterday, no runs for the Yankees,
27:05not good enough.
27:06But also, you know what's not good enough?
27:08Paying over minus 150 for the Yankees tonight.
27:10Maybe a slight dog tonight here
27:11on those Kansas City Royals, Dubzy.
27:14Wolf, Wolf, Wolf, one of the most exciting
27:15marquee matchups for the Wednesday slate,
27:17the Royals squaring off against the Yankees.
27:20Let's march into Boston, the Red Sox at home
27:23taking on familiar foes in the Baltimore Orioles.
27:26Is the Red Sox favored in this matchup?
27:28Only just, minus 118.
27:30They'll get Nick Pivetta to toe the slab.
27:32It's Dean Kramer who goes for Baltimore.
27:3439 home runs combined for the two starting pitchers.
27:38Could this be the game where we see
27:39plenty of offense for the Wednesday?
27:42We probably should, and also,
27:43when you take a look at the analytical numbers,
27:45they don't shine kindly here on Dean Kramer.
27:4752 and three-thirds innings pitched over the past 60 days.
27:50He's got an ERA around four,
27:51but that XFIP number closer to five,
27:53which is that dangerous territory.
27:55But he has been getting a little bit lucky as of late.
27:57His last 113 batters he's faced, Dubzy,
27:59look at the ISIL against him, 069, tremendous.
28:02Weighted on base percentage, 270, fantastic.
28:05But that's a lineup tonight that's gonna have
28:06a lot of left-handed batters in it.
28:08Durant, Devers, Abreu, Yoshida,
28:10they should be able to do some damage.
28:12Let's take a look at the opposite side and say,
28:14you know what, what's Nick Pivetta going to do tonight?
28:16Not a great pitcher by any stretch,
28:18but also not a dominant pitcher.
28:204.93 ERA, but his XFIP is around four.
28:23So theoretically, the better pitcher on the mound,
28:26if we're just looking analytically,
28:27could it be Nick Pivetta?
28:28But he has struggled a bit
28:30with right-handed batters on the season.
28:32You're gonna get some pretty powerful bats.
28:33Here's the problem.
28:34We've loved this Orioles lineup
28:36the entire season here, Dubzy.
28:37But against right-handed pitching over the past 30 days,
28:40Henderson, Mullins, Santander, all good numbers.
28:43The rest of the lineup, really struggling.
28:45If we're just looking analytically,
28:46we should get a lot of runs.
28:48But I gotta tell you,
28:49sometimes it might be a little bit
28:50of a leap of faith in that direction.
28:52Tough call either way here,
28:53on a side and a total for me here.
28:56Baltimore going against Boston.
28:58The Red Sox there,
28:59looks to be a great matchup for the Wednesday afternoon.
29:02A little earlier on the card today, Donnie,
29:04it's the Guardians, Cleveland,
29:05going against Chicago, the White Sox.
29:07We keep harping on about the best teams in baseball.
29:10Let's talk about the worst team in baseball, Chicago.
29:13What a season they have put together,
29:15and it doesn't look to get any better here on a Wednesday.
29:18Davis Martin gets out there on the hill.
29:20The total set at eight, and no surprises.
29:23The Guardians heavily favored in this matchup.
29:26Sometimes it feels like this team doesn't even show up,
29:29whether they have nine batters or not.
29:31And quite frankly, their numbers tell the tale.
29:33Let's take a look at Matthew Boyd.
29:34He's gonna be on the mound today
29:35for the Cleveland Guardians.
29:36Not a great pitcher by any stretch.
29:38He's actually had a pretty good run
29:39against right-handed batters.
29:40Struggling a little bit at times
29:41with the power of the left-handed bats,
29:43but overall, the better pitcher on the mound today.
29:45But let's focus on this White Sox lineup, Tubbsy.
29:47Last 30 days against left-handed pitching.
29:49You know I love me some ISO power numbers.
29:51You have a 165 or higher ISO power number,
29:54you're doing your job.
29:55Everything below that, not so good.
29:57Jolks, zero ISO power number.
29:59Robert, zero.
30:01Ben Attendee, 031.
30:02Vaughn, 083.
30:03Lee, zero.
30:05Sosa, 030.
30:06Ramos, zero completely.
30:08Vargas, 042.
30:10Amaya, zero.
30:11Who's getting base hits here
30:12for the Chicago White Sox tonight?
30:13I can't back them any way, shape, or form.
30:17Run line it every night it feels like
30:19for the Guardians here.
30:20Let's go.
30:21It's gonna be a tough scene.
30:23That's gonna do it for me.
30:23It's on your right side.
30:24I've got a little tease for you.
30:25Coming up after the break,
30:27I'm being replaced by one of the team's sports grid talent.
