00:00Does anybody want to win a hundred games around Major League Baseball this season just about 35 remain for most teams around the
00:08Bigs and as of this moment, the answer to my rhetorical question is not rhetorical. It's a no
00:14We'll show you why according to the odds makers, but DRS that wasn't always the thought entering this year
00:21The Dodgers were a minus
00:22184 favorite to win at least a hundred games their win total was 102 and a hook the Braves who won a hundred and four
00:29Games last year minus 150
00:32Entering the year the Astros have won a hundred games in the last three years
00:36In fact in the last five full Major League Baseball seasons DRS
00:40We have seen at least three clubs around the bigs win a hundred games in all five of those years now
00:48It looks like nobody is going to get to the century mark and everybody will be coming up short
00:53Yeah, it looks that way and also before the season started you probably look it's it's hard to win a hundred games
00:59We understand that but when you're putting out the level of talent like the Braves pre, you know
01:03Injuries to start the season and the Los Angeles Dodgers. It's hard even to look at that schedule 162 games
01:08I know you're not gonna go game by game with wins
01:10But you look at it go like are they ever gonna be underdogs?
01:13When is the chance are gonna be underdogs?
01:14Like, you know, you can lose 60 ball games and still hit 100 wins, which is kind of crazy to think about
01:20But now as you say it
01:21nobody's probably going to get there because what you need 24 wins out of the Dodgers 26 wins out of the Phillies and the
01:27Yankees and so forth
01:28We don't know who's gonna need those final wins in the regular parts of the season
01:31But still injuries are going to happen at this point usually to get a hundred wins
01:34You need to be on pace or above pace to get a hundred wins. Not like hey coming down the back stretch
01:39We're really gonna blast through September with like a you know
01:4217 18 19 20 wins just in that one month alone in order to try to get close
01:47I don't think anybody's getting there
01:48But before the season if you would have told without a free battle the Dodgers did it get a hundred wins?
01:52I probably like yeah, I think you're gonna get a hundred
01:55Yeah, absolutely, so the Dodgers have won at least a hundred games in the last four full Major League Baseball seasons
02:01They have the most wins right now. They are 76 and 52. That's a hundred and twenty eight games played
02:07If I do my math correctly carry the 434 games remain for the Dodgers
02:12They would have to go 24 and 10 over those final 34 to get to the century mark
02:18It is why right now they have the best chance
02:20With the updated outlook to get to a hundred plus wins at a three-to-one price
02:24But even the Dodgers having the shortest number is plus 300 the Phil's were off to a historic start the first time
02:31They had reached 50 games by a certain point in franchise history on June 18th. The Yankees were 51 and
02:3922 well on pace to get to a hundred now
02:42It seems nobody will which what does that really mean DRS?
02:47outside of a couple of lost win total tickets if you took the over on the Dodgers or
02:52The Braves does it mean that the very top of Major League Baseball has a lot of parody which would create a chaotic
02:59October at MLB postseason perhaps I
03:02mean, maybe it does but also when you're taking a look at the teams that we expected to be a hundred win teams because if
03:07You're being an analyst and looking at those teams say hey the Dodgers are awesome
03:10They got flatlined with their starting pitchers
03:12You take a look at the Atlanta Braves basically lost just about every good player for long stretches if not for the season here
03:18It's hard to overcome that and be the better team on a day-to-day basis
03:21Maybe the one team that you could probably look at as the Philadelphia Phillies
03:25I'm sure they lost JT Ramuto for a little bit a couple guys on some minor stints on the IL
03:29but maybe that was the team that once the season started and got on that historic pace that you figure would carry you through as
03:35Long as they didn't have any real devastating injuries Ranger Suarez was unbelievable to start the season now
03:40He's on the IL but due to come back in short term
03:42But for my money the Dodgers and Braves clearly should have been those hundred miles hundred marker teams
03:47But then it should have probably been the Phillies after we saw that month of April into May like wow
03:51They're probably going to get there fairly easily. Now. Nobody is going to get there easy. So parody
03:55Yes a little bit but injuries probably a little bit more
03:5940 wins for the Phil's by the end of May 40 and
04:0418 so the Dodgers right now just in terms of the winds component and what it means for the postseason
04:09The Dodgers have the best record in the National League a full game up over the Phil's they have played two more games
04:16They have two more wins
04:17minus
04:18145 to be that number one overall seed in the NL the Yankees
04:2274 and 53 a half game in front of the O's and the Guardians for the best record in the AL
04:30Minus 115 on
04:32New York it is fascinating the last time we did not see at least one club around MLB win a hundred games
04:39That was the 2014 Major League Baseball season. It seems we are destined to get to that point
04:45Yeah, it seems like that way but also add some excitement down the stretch your BWS wild-card races are tight
04:52Parity is there nobody's running away for teams that I keep telling you with legitimate chances to win and maybe some of those teams from
04:58The NL West starting to creep in and maybe I'm just hating on the Astros if they wind up in the World Series again, boy
05:04What a season will be free boy DRS burying a baseball team that might win a World Series off scene
05:10And DRS even for the battle for the second best record in each league to earn that opening round by that will be contested
05:17Down the stretch our two starts next on the earlier our Major League Baseball
05:22Insider and the host of Newswire each and every weekday at 11 a.m
05:26Eastern Time live right here on the Spiz Grizz Craig Mish joins us on this Thursday on the early line on
05:33Sports grid Craig a historic day yesterday in Major League Baseball
05:37We'll talk about Aaron judge his home run tracker in the end of a career for one of the greats in
05:44Cincinnati in Joey Votto so much to get to you Craig. We appreciate the time as always
05:49Yeah, of course and and I can't wait to get into Votto here because you know, I would have loved to see him play
05:55This season, but it does make some sense with what he did yesterday. And I think it's really nice that
06:01Hopefully in four years from now because again, he didn't play a Major League Baseball game Ben
06:05But hopefully four years from now that he's wearing that
06:08Cincinnati cap, but that's the only cap that he would obviously wear in the Hall of Fame
06:13That will be the question Craig as we touch them all we hit every single bag today in the daily basis
06:25Joey Votto
06:27Officially calls it a career and what a stellar one it was
06:31Here's the career resume for one of the greats to do it for the Reds
06:3517 seasons a six-time Major League Baseball all-star the 2010 National League MVP and as you see there
06:44356 career home runs it is difficult Craig to impress the baseball writers
06:50Necessary to get into Cooperstown, but when all is said and done is Joey Votto going to be in the Hall of Fame
06:56Yeah, Joey Votto is
06:59100% gonna be in the Hall of Fame
07:00the only thing that we don't know is will he get in Ben on the first ballot and
07:05I believe he will get in on the first ballot and and again nothing against Joe Mauer at all
07:11Okay, but I mean if we're putting these two players up against each other and you had to pick one
07:17Who would you take it would be Votto for me all day long
07:20Look in this day and age where on base percentage means a lot
07:23He's there hit a lot of home runs drove in a lot of runs
07:26If batting average is your thing, I mean take a look at Votto's last three years they were horrific
07:31He still ended up with a batting average of 296 lifetime. There's nothing to talk about. He's a guaranteed Hall of Famer
07:38I think he's a first ballot Hall of Famer
07:40But you know others will have to make that decision my guess has been and again remember
07:44He didn't play a major league game
07:45So he doesn't have to wait five years he has to wait four years and I believe in four years
07:49We'll get somewhere between you know, 77 to 80 percent and get in on the first try. I believe he'll be in there
07:55Yeah, Votto was always a fun player to not only great on the field
07:58But even when he would come to Philadelphia doing stuff stuff like, you know
08:01Catch a foul ball fake like you're gonna give it to a fan throw it back onto the field
08:04So he's always engaged and certainly very quirky, but also very cool at times as well major league baseball here Craig
08:10As we take a look before the season we're expecting maybe a few teams to reach that hundred win plateau
08:15And I don't think we're gonna get that now Mike quite frankly
08:18It would be an upset to get one of these major league baseball teams at a hundred wins as you take a look at the Dodgers
08:23300 price the Phillies at an 8 to 1 price the Yankees at a 10 to 1 price just to get to a hundred wins
08:28Is it parody or is it basically one of those years where some of the top teams just a little bit injured and couldn't get
08:34To that century mark. Yeah, Donnie. I think you said it best. There's been a lot of injuries in baseball
08:38I definitely think that has happened and we just don't see a ton of teams at the bottom. Also that are awful
08:44I mean look the White Sox are gonna lose a hundred games then maybe Miami and Colorado
08:48But beyond that a lot of the middle teams are the middle teams this season
08:52There really hasn't been a huge disparity there the Dodgers at this point definitely have the best shot to do it
08:57They get the Rockies still for a few more they get Miami for a few more
09:01So that so the opportunity is still there for LA
09:04But I think at the end of the season we're gonna look back and someone will probably hit 97 or 98
09:08But I don't think anybody hits on you
09:11128 games played for LA they have the most wins with 76
09:16They would need to go 24 and 10 over their final 34 games at bare minimum to get to a hundred for a fifth
09:23consecutive full Major League Baseball
09:26Season the last year we did not have a single club with a hundred games around the bigs. That was
09:312014 a decade ago Craig what a change we have seen in the odds to win the National League Rookie of the Year
09:38Award at times around the all-star break with Paul Skeen starting the game for the National League in Arlington
09:45He was up to a minus two thousand minus four thousand favorite to win the National League Rookie of the Year
09:50He is no longer the favorite. He is not in minus money. It is San Diego's Jackson Merrill at a minus
09:57175 number Craig, what do you think?
09:59The biggest reason is for the large change atop the National League Rookie of the Year odds
10:04Yeah, look and this has been the biggest shifting market
10:07I think of all the markets since the beginning of the season
10:09You know
10:10none of those players those top three were even favored to win the Rookie of the Year and then
10:14Imanaga very quickly was the favorite then Skeens was the favorite now Merrill is the favorite
10:18So why has it gone from Merrill to Skeens? There's two different reasons the first let's talk about Skeens
10:23The reason why is because Skeens very clearly has not been as good as he was when he first came up looks like he potentially
10:29Is getting tired not throwing a hundred anymore. He's only throwing 98 99 guys, right?
10:34Like that's all he's throwing but I think that the markets are smart and they realize that Skeens is running out of time
10:41I think the Pirates very soon are gonna shut him down
10:43Especially if they are out of it and there is some talk Jared Jones comes back and Skeens stops
10:49That could definitely be the case. The other part of this why is Merrill the Rookie of the Year?
10:52It's not just his stats guys. He's got like the biggest hits of the season for the Padres
10:56he's come up with these big moments grand slams home runs doubles to win the game and I think that that is why the
11:04Pendulum has shifted toward Merrill. I don't think this is an open-and-shut case
11:07But I think when we look back at Merrill season, it's gonna be his clutch hitting
11:11I know they don't judge that anymore, but I think his clutch hitting has been huge
11:15He injected a lot of life into that offense. They're fun to watch now yesterday
11:18It didn't work out in their favor gave up a lot of runs to the Twins
11:21But they're gonna take on the New York Mets who walked off as he went yesterday
11:24Got on a plane flying out what 3,000 miles to the west coast Severino versus sees tonight a favorite for San Diego
11:30Did the good times continue for the Mets or is it a bounce-back spot for the Padres tonight?
11:35You're probably a close game and and this one you can almost guarantee that the Mets bullpen is gonna have to come through tonight
11:41Because the odds to me of Severino throwing another nine-inning shutout or even pitching nine innings last week against Miami
11:49Slim to none. So this is probably a late bullpen situation type game
11:53I would look toward the under in this one both pitchers get through six seven and the bullpens have been actually okay
11:58Especially the Padres bullpen with hater in the back nine there. So low scoring game today in San Diego
12:04Luis Severino has been
12:06Sensational at least in his last start against Miami a complete game for hit shutout
12:11But in his first two starts in August for earn runs given up in each Craig Mish as always
12:17We appreciate the time. We'll see you on newswire at 11 a.m. Eastern Time. See you tomorrow
12:25football
12:29Right
12:33Did they get yeah, Delaware State
12:35They were supposed to take off on their final flight last night
12:39They should be good Craig fired up for the Hornets more on the early line now. We now preview the game
12:44We just left you off with with Craig Mish breaking down the Padres and the Mets
12:49It's a lot of travel for New York yesterday day baseball at Citi Field
12:54They walk it off courtesy of Jesse Winker to take the rubber match and the set against the Baltimore Orioles now
13:01The Mets only backed by a game and a half of Atlanta for the third and final and a wild card spot
13:06They travel cross-country to take on the Padres who have been at home this week had a chance to sweep the twins yesterday
13:13Got hammered 11 to 4 Jackson Merrill did have a two-run home run for the Padres as they tried to rally late
13:20But they were down 10 nothing after five innings. There was very little chance, San Diego and Dylan
13:26C's a home favorite today at minus 162 out in Southern, California
13:31Over under seven and a half in the under has the Jews Craig mentioned it last start for the week
13:36Severino who makes another one today for New York was a complete game shutout of the Miami Marlins only allowing four hits
13:43Over the weekend. What do you expect DRS in this game tonight between the Padres and the Mets?
13:48It's a perfect bounce back spot for the Padres number one, they got hammered yesterday
13:52So they're gonna be on their P's and Q's tonight
13:54Dylan sees is the better pitcher on the mound over Severino and also
13:58Travel does come into this like sometimes we talk about in the NFL
14:00Hey West Coast team coming East Coast playing at 1 o'clock. It's a little bit earlier of a start
14:04well
14:05You don't necessarily get that but you get a
14:073,000 mile gap where you got to get on a plane and fly out there where the Padres are waiting on you
14:11So better baseball team overall for the Padres better pitcher on the mound and also better flight
14:17Schedule, I should say for the San Diego Padres as opposed to the Mets coming out there
14:21It seems to me like the Padres should have a nice bounce back effort tonight. And again walk away with the victory
14:25I've been back. By the way, I've been back in the Mets here as of late. Just don't like them in this game. Yeah
14:30And it is a tough spot for New York
14:32It's going to be a tough weekend series against San Diego because when you look at this game for the Mets
14:38They're only backed by a game and a half as of this moment of that third and final
14:43National League wild-card spot but to go up against the Padres who yes lost yesterday to Minnesota
14:49San Diego is still won 13 of its last 17 games and is still
14:5522 and 7 since the all-star break
14:58It's a four game set that starts today that runs through the weekend out in Southern, California
15:03Rubber match today between two other teams in the National League East if the Mets have a hard draw
15:08They're rooting for the Phillies
15:09Which is not something you would often say
15:12For a New York baseball team the Philz and the Braves today the third and final game of the set in Atlanta
15:18It's a virtual pick'em. Once again
15:21Spencer Schwellenbach and the Braves a very very slight favorite against the Philz today
15:26The over-under is eight who takes the rubber match who takes the series
15:30And that's interesting. This game is in Atlanta tonight not in Philadelphia
15:33The reason I bring that up is Christopher Sanchez is a really good pitcher here
15:37But there are some question marks about where he pitches better at and Citizens Bank ballpark is not a great pitchers ballpark
15:43Understand it's on the road
15:44But hear me out on this if the game was in Philadelphia, you know
15:46The best pitcher analytically on the card would be today Christopher Sanchez a 218 era at home an x-fifth number of 2.6
15:543 that's through 86 and two-thirds innings pitched filthy at home. Now, let's go on the road
15:58Yeah, so going from the top pitcher would drop him to the 12th pitcher here
16:02a
16:035.53 era over 53 and two-thirds innings pitch in an x-fifth of
16:084.24 Schwellenbach who came up to the majors a little bit of a rocky start has really settled in as a quality starter
16:13I still did you still look at a pedigree, right?
16:15The Phillies are the better team and I keep saying it, you know
16:18The Atlanta Braves a triple-a team basically thrown up there the Phillies should you win by default at this point?
16:22But if we are looking at that total which is listed at 8, I don't know if we get 9 runs
16:27I don't think the game will go over yesterday and it didn't so if Sanchez has a decent performance
16:31I don't trust those bats for Atlanta and it's well in back is decent the bats for the you know
16:36Phillies haven't shown up basically in a month. It feels like at this point
16:39So maybe the better bet would be to an under in this game
16:43These two teams will begin a four-game weekend set against each other a week from today
16:48Back in Philadelphia that will end the season series
16:51Between these divisional foes to Donnie's point on Spencer Schwellenbach his first six career starts this year
16:58Gave up 20 earned runs in his last seven only 14 earned runs
17:02He hasn't been stellar, but he has been better yesterday a walk-off grand salami in the 10th off the bat of Nolan
17:10Arenado st. Louis gets a win over Milwaukee day baseball under the arch today the cards a home
17:17Underdog against Freddy Peralta and Milwaukee. It's minus 120 total is 8. What's the play?
17:23Yeah, I'm gonna take Milwaukee in this one. I just don't like Myles Michael
17:26It's on the mound you take a look at him being at home today. Not a great
17:29Let me see his seasonal statistics 60 and two-thirds innings pitched at home
17:356.53
17:36Era that's at home. That's ridiculous here. Give me the Milwaukee Brewers in this game. They should be able to beat up on the cards
17:43Listen an extra innings defeat yesterday snapped a six-game win streak for Milwaukee
17:49But the brew crew still an 11 game lead over st
17:53Louis for that top spot in the National League Central a prompt perspective on a Thursday
17:59Jack of all trades Tom Vecchio is your next for as long as I have worked at the Sports Grid Network for as long as
18:05I have hosted this morning show in whatever iteration
18:08It has been called with whoever my co-host has been there has been one consistent thing
18:13And that's Tom Vecchio the Jack of all trades, but we used to introduce him as something else now
18:20We introduce him with a jacket on as Sports Grids Tom Vecchio Vecchio
18:26I'm very pleased to welcome you to the space
18:29That's good DRS. We are very pleased to welcome you to the Spitz Grizz Network
18:34You are going to be doing some great work all across the Sports Grid Network all football season long
18:40Taking that great prop perspective in all of your intellect to the Sports Grid viewers
18:45Glad to have you here as an official part of the Sports Grid Network
18:49Thank you for joining us on this Thursday
18:51Yeah, thanks for having me. Thank you for that introduction
18:55Not that I haven't been here before but yeah, it's official. I am morning Sports Grid for the NFL season
19:02You'll see me on Monday and Thursday nights for pregame halftime and postgame and then on Sunday nights for postgame
19:09Of course making plenty appearances on however many other shows
19:13It's great to be here. We had a lot to get to today specifically
19:16So let's just kind of keep things normal and we'll get to it
19:20Sounds good back
19:21Yeah
19:21Sounds like a plan to me the surest sign of a new Sports Grid employee is a sports jacket over a t-shirt
19:28You might have Omer to and you might have the cutting of the hands in certain cultures for us. It's dawning a sorting gun
19:35Let's track it on
19:38That's good a couple of Sopranos guys right here one two and three
19:43Let's dive right in to what you are great at your prop perspective
19:47You've been featuring some season-long looks all summer long getting ready for a new NFL
19:53Campaign the focus today is one that Donnie is going to like way to suck up to your new co-workers
19:58We focus on Jalen hurts in Philadelphia. What's the play?
20:02Yeah, Jalen hurts over 21 and a half passing touchdown sitting at minus 118
20:07That's on fangles at 22 and a half with a little bit of plus money on drafting
20:10Of course always shop for the best line
20:12So I was like bringing in the other betting markets and we try and find some correlation
20:16So he's plus 1400 for MVP. That's the fifth shortest odds Philly
20:201300 to in the Super Bowl fifth shortest odds and they're plus 550 to in the end NFC
20:24Which is the third short side?
20:25So like they are in the mix to be one of the best teams and he's in the conversation to be an MVP
20:30so when we're looking at that like a quarterback who's in that realm if they finish with 20 or 19 touchdowns like
20:36That means the market was completely wrong on that
20:39So if we're using those other correlations, we can try and build that in not only that, you know
20:44But they've still one of the best offensive lines in the league
20:46They have either the eighth or the ninth easiest strength of schedule depending on where you look and you know
20:51Regardless of how the end of the season last year
20:53He's surrounded by a ton of talent Brown Smith Dallas Goddard bring in Saquon Barkley. That is a very good often
20:59So I don't care this recency bias that some people have saying Oh last year
21:03They finished one in eight one in seven wherever the record was giving up all these points
21:07The offense is ready to fire on all cylinders
21:09I don't care what the coaching has to say as
21:11Syrians say off the field like this is an awesome offense and if they're gonna be one of the best in the league based on
21:16The other betting markets. I'm gonna be taking Jalen hurts time and time again
21:20And that offense will be unveiled here in Brazil going up against the Green Bay Packers on a Friday night
21:26So some good times all the way around but we do have a doubleheader tonight in the NFL for the final week of the preseason
21:32Indianapolis and Cincinnati's an interesting one tonight Tom the fans of sports book posted the opening number at minus two and a half as a
21:38Favorite towards the Colts
21:39That's not ballooned to six and a half because it looks like the Colts will be playing some starters a total that's current listed at
21:45Thirty four and a half any looks on tonight's game between the Colts and the Bengals. I
21:50Actually don't mind the Colts in this one. And obviously the number has moved significantly
21:53I wouldn't mind looking to take the Colts live
21:57especially that number drops to you know, three and a half or four and a half and you know part of that is because the
22:01Colts are gonna be playing the starter playing their starters into the second quarter somewhat, you know
22:06anything rich and only played one game and he was two of four in that game and there were some reports in their joint practice
22:10with the Bengals this past week that the Colts offense looked out of sorts and the Bengals defense was like talking trash and like
22:16They're they're really finding their groove in the Colts or not
22:18So based on you know
22:20Anthony Richardson being hurt last year missing a bunch of games and the fact he only threw four passes so far like they need him
22:24Out there. They need to get in the rhythm in this last game. So they have to get the offense going
22:29They have to push the ball downfield and that has made me somewhat interested in the Colts
22:34Colts also in the first half a three and a half point favorite first half total for the game is
22:3917 and a hawk could take that component of it
22:42If you just want to look at Indy and the best and brightest out there
22:45We do not expect to see a ton of starters that guilt maybe any starters in the second game of the doubleheader on this Thursday
22:52Inside arrowhead the Chiefs and the Bears no Caleb Williams for Chicago
22:57No, Patrick Mahomes for Casey the Bears an ever-so-slight favorite of a point and a half
23:02The total is at 32 and a hook. What's your breakdown for this second of two games on a Thursday night?
23:08Well, it's a bit jarring to see the Chiefs at plus money as an as a home underdog
23:13Which I don't think we saw them at that point ever and however many recent years
23:17But if we're gonna be seeing no starters, it's really trusted
23:20It's tough to trust anyone when it comes to this game
23:23Overall if you want to lay with the Bears just because they've been rolling and you know
23:26They at least have I was a Tyson Bajan might be out there for a little bit
23:29They at least have some competency in quarterback. I doubt the Chiefs are gonna start
23:32Carson Wentz they want to at least protect them in some capacity
23:35So you can roll with the Bears just because they've been hot in the preseason so far
23:39But other than that this game is to see who's been making the roster and using that from a fancy perspective going forward
23:45Going forward something that we're gonna talk about with Paul skeins
23:48How much longer forward will he be going into the month of September, but we know he's gonna be on the mound tonight
23:53Tom 955 956 on the rotation
23:55That's the Reds and the Pirates
23:57Lodolo skeins favorite towards Pittsburgh at a minus 144 price in a total of seven and a half
24:02Skeins does he dominate tonight? And what do we like? I?
24:05Actually think he does dominate tonight. I like over seven and a half strikeouts. Let's see a minus 112 the Pirates
24:11You know as Craig missed shed in a couple segments ago
24:13Like they're kind of running out of time and this might be one of Paul skins last chances to really show that he does deserve
24:20You know rookie of the year Cy Young whatever might be he's got an awesome, you know, 31% strikeout rate
24:24So over seven and a half Reds coming with their current active roster versus readies with 24.7 percent strikeout vs. Brady's
24:30That's a sixth worst in the league. So I expect him to be out there. I expect new pilot strikeouts again
24:34He needs this start to kind of solidify himself in both the Cy Young and rookie of your market
24:39So give him one or two more good starts and then maybe ease him back as the season comes to a close
24:44In his five starts since the all-star break
24:48And of course where he started the all-star game for the NL at most only eight K's for skeins
24:54The whore he has gone on under seven and a half K's in three of the last four for Pittsburgh
25:00You mentioned the NL rookie of the year odds Tom
25:03We have seen a huge change atop this market skeins at points was close to a minus
25:085,000 favorite to run away with this award at the all-star break
25:12I said they should start taking the chisel out and put skeins his name on the trophy now
25:18It's San Diego's Jackson Merrill a minus 175 favorite. What has led to this change at the top?
25:24Well, he's been awesome. It's also the fact that the Padres are playing in important games and he's playing a big role in those games
25:31He's having those it's so I can understand why things shifted so dramatically
25:36And if the Pirates were more in the mix for the wild card or the division and skeins was still out there
25:42Dominating for eight nine strikeouts every time. I don't I think he would still be the favorite
25:46That's not the case anymore
25:47So, you know if you were able to get on Jackson Merrill early in the season Congrats, but that ship is sailed right now
25:52so I
25:53It's got I think Jackson Merrill will end up winning just because skis have been be eased back when it comes to the innings
25:58That's gonna you know decreases efficiency overall
26:01Talking about Jackson Merrill his team is going to play tenant against the New York Mets would have a wild card battle if you will
26:07Minus 162 favorite for the Padres and a total listed at seven and a half
26:11We go with any Jackson Merrill props tonight in this game. Yeah, let's keep it rolling with him for two plus little bases at plus 100
26:18He's awesome in this split versus righties going up against Louie Severino. He's got a 148 WRC plus versus righties
26:25It's only a 70 WRC plus versus lefty
26:27So this is the split to be targeting Severino 407 slugging allowed to let these not worried about this all let's roll with Merrill
26:34Let's also go to another game today around Major League Baseball to finish out the prop perspective for this Thursday
26:40Thank you. What's the final bet that we have on your first day officially as a sports great employee?
26:46Yeah, let's roll with Gavin Williams over 15 and a half out to sitting a plus 146. There's gonna be a plus money here
26:52He's a solid pitcher overall doesn't get hit too hard doesn't have a massive breakout rate
26:56But he can control things the Guardians also their bullpen was a bit taxed not only yesterday so much but the 12 inning game
27:01They also are playing every day from now until next Thursday and have a doubleheader on Monday
27:05So they need their pitchers to go deeper into the games to kind of save things for their bullpen
27:10It's the rubber match inside Yankee Stadium
27:13Derek Cole gets to start for New York Gavin Williams on the other side for Cleveland that insight from sports
27:20Tom Becky Tom as always. Thank you more on the early line next another historic day in Major League Baseball
27:26It is Skeens day 17. That's X V III for the Pittsburgh Pirates
27:33His 17th career start of his rookie season, but some of the history Donnie is starting to fall
27:40Just a little bit flat
27:41There's not much as much enthusiasm behind Paul Skeens on the mound as there was early
27:47This year and we are seeing that reflected in the National League Rookie of the Year odds
27:52Skeens gets the start today for the buck goes at home inside PNC Park
27:57They're listed as a minus 144 favorite against the Reds total of seven and a half
28:02What do you expect out of Paul Skeens in Pittsburgh today? I?
28:06Expect a good performance out of Paul Skeens and also the question mark is not going to come from Skeens for me whether or not
28:11We get a solid performance
28:12I think we do the question is gonna be on Nicola Dolo the left-handed pitcher here for the Cincinnati Reds
28:17The one thing as a left-handed pitcher typically will struggle with is against right-handed batters
28:21He's gonna face a ton of right-handed batters tonight
28:23But also when you're looking at the lineup for the Pittsburgh Pirates up against left-handed pitching over the past 30 days
28:30It's really not all that great
28:31So when you're saying to yourself which way you're going to play this game for me as opposed to a side
28:36Which I do think Pittsburgh probably wins because schemes is the better pitcher
28:38But I think the under might make even a little bit more sense here
28:42Skeens has a good night
28:43Lodolo keeps them a little bit off tap and maybe get one of those games that winds up at 4 to 2 43
28:48Somewhere in that range, so I do think this the Pittsburgh Pirates win, but I'm more comfortable with the under
28:53I think both of these pitchers can have a decent performance tonight
28:56And again, what is so fascinating about this is Paul Skeens has made five starts since starting for the National League in the all-star game
29:03It's not like he has become a gas can he has still been pretty good
29:07Yes, he did allow for earn run in a game against the Dodgers a couple of weekends ago
29:12But outside of giving up those four earned he's been pretty darn good. He's still seven and two with a 2-3
29:17Oh, er a which would be the best in baseball if you were to meet the inning requirement
29:22That is not the case at this moment
29:25But Donnie it is fascinating and it's something you warned about
29:28from the very start whether it was the NL Cy Young conversation around skeens or
29:33even the hefty hefty minus money prices on
29:36Skeens as an odds-on favorite to win the National League Rookie of the Year award if Pittsburgh was out of playoff contention
29:42Which they have been struggling here in the second half Paul Skeens his number to win award hardware would grow
29:51Longer he is now longer the favorite to win the National League Rookie of the Year award. It's San Diego's Jackson Merrill
29:57Yeah, and it should be that way because you're taking a look at Paul Skeens and unfair as it may be
30:01He came on the scene as a whirlwind
30:03But as we talked about pitchers that have been playing the entire season or pitching the entire season same things with players
30:09You have to be perfect every single night
30:11And if you give up three runs one night
30:12You probably can't be the Cy Young award winner fair or foul
30:15Also in order to win the Cy Young you must pitch all the way through September and people want to see you in high-leverage
30:22Situations like Pittsburgh must win tonight to keep that one game lead in the wild card now there eight games back
30:28That's going up in smoke at this point and also from a business standpoint
30:32Pittsburgh is saying whether or not this guy wins the Cy Young or not
30:34This year is it gonna change anything with them making the playoffs?
30:37They need this guy healthy down the line extra innings in September doesn't make much sense
30:41And also as we talked about with Merrill he's playing in a big game environment on the night-to-night basis and performing very very well
30:48That gets you those added points there when you're looking to win Rookie of the Year
30:51So I don't have any issues with this year if we had and also keep in mind with Skeens Ben
30:57We saw this guy in legitimate two chances to throw a no-hitter and like I pull him out of the game
31:02So apparently the Pittsburgh Pirates don't care if he wins the Cy Young or Rookie of the Year
31:06Otherwise, they would have let him get no hitters
31:09eight games below
31:11559 and
31:1267 for Pittsburgh their focus for Skeens and their organization is not on making a playoff run late here in 2024
31:19It's 2025 and beyond Pittsburgh actually got off to a decent start following the all-star break at their peak
31:2655 and 52 in playoff contention in the wild-card chase in the NL from that point
31:33They have been 4 and 15 games number 9 6 1 9 6 2 on the rotation
31:40That's up. Whoa Bronx the Yankees take it. Let me find it. Let me find it. Where's that?
31:48You know, I was just talking with Frieza we just we love when you give out the rotation numbers
31:53So we've got the right rotation number. So congratulate Joe Joe gave me bad
32:00What did you say? What number did you say? 9 6 1 9 6 2 Yankees guard 9 9 9 6. Yeah, I got it
32:07Oh, hold on. No, no, you're right. You're right. My bad. I did at the time schedule wrong. Yeah
32:11So you're good. Yeah
32:13I don't know. I have an order of time as opposed to game. So you got it. Yep. That is it. Okay
32:19All right good. So now that we are squared away 9 6 1 9 6 2
32:24Rotation today. It's the Yankees as they mine
32:26It's 178 home favorite in the rubber match against the Cleveland Guardians the Guardians victorious in
32:3112 innings in the longest game of this MLB season on Tuesday the Yankees led by Juan Soto and Aaron judge
32:39Respond yesterday to even up the set who takes the rubber match with some day baseball up in the Bronx
32:44Yeah, I think I'd look it's a high price here right now. And again, we're not getting that Gary Cole
32:48That's the best pitcher on the planet right now working this way back
32:51But he's still a better pitcher than where you're gonna get out of Gavin Williams and also taking a look at the lineup
32:56Soto and judge hammering right-handed pitching Austin Wells doing well Jim Carlos Stanton doing well
33:01Volpe even Oswaldo Cabrera has some good statistics here against right-handed pitching over the past month
33:07I do think the Yanks get it together
33:09RBI chances, of course Soto and judge the only issue with that sometimes that you come up with sooner or later other managers catch on
33:14As well, I'm like, you know what I'm not pitching this guy runner on third base put that guy on first base here
33:19So if you're looking for legitimate RBI opportunities
33:21Maybe the best one Austin Wells because we expect Soto and judge to be on base and maybe getting free passes
33:27Austin Wells has to pick it up. That's where I'd look today as sort of a contrarian RBI look
33:32Aaron judge even money plus 100 to record a ribby. He's got 18 in August
33:38He had three yesterday one Soto had five RBI s yesterday plus 150 for an RBI Aaron judge
33:45You hit his 46th and 47th home run last night against Cleveland plus 220 to hit a long ball today
33:52Well, the Orioles bounce back at home against a really good Houston team
33:57What a matchup this is a postseason preview
34:00Perhaps Corbin Burns and the O's a home favorite today in Camden against the Astros Corbin Burns gets the start
34:07Yeah, we'll take the under 8. I don't think we get the 9 runs tonight Corbin Burns at home this season 2.9 1 era
34:13Exit 3.2 2 through 77 and a third innings pitch playoff type atmosphere today in Baltimore. Let's go under
34:21Both teams lost their midweek set Houston to the Red Sox drop in the final two Baltimore the first and the final
34:28Against the New York Mets the O's
34:30Unlike Houston who has been playing really good baseball in August the Astros 12 and 6 the Orioles just 9 and 8
34:37Or 8 and 9 at this moment deal enjoy the money line
34:41We'll talk tomorrow on a football Friday, but not before the early line ends out on this
