00:00Eluned Morgan has just announced her first full-time Cabinet after being elected to the
00:07role of First Minister back in August. It can be quite confusing when looking at the
00:11difference between the Welsh Government, the Welsh Parliament, the Senedd and then her
00:16Cabinet, so we'll take a look at what those terms mean exactly and take a look at the
00:20people she's put into her new Cabinet. In its simplest terms, the Senedd and the Welsh
00:26Parliament are the same thing. It's the Welsh and English names for it. It's made up of
00:3060 elected politicians who vote on various decisions, question the First Minister and
00:34report back to their constituents around the country. They're currently made up of 30 Labour
00:40Senedd members, 16 Conservatives, 12 from Plaid Cymru, one Liberal Democrat and one
00:45Independent. The 30 Labour Senedd members form the Welsh Government. They, as the biggest
00:52party, take up more of a decision-making capacity and during votes can usually be
00:57confident they will win given they hold half of the seats. The Cabinet is then a smaller
01:03group of more senior Welsh Labour Senedd members appointed by the First Minister. They take
01:08up specific roles from education to health and finance the environment and they're usually
01:12more senior, with Eluned Morgan recently naming hers. Their job roles are either Minister
01:17for something or Cabinet Secretary for something. She's got some experienced names in her Cabinet,
01:23like former First Minister Mark Drakeford, taking up the role as Finance Minister, a
01:28role he previously held before becoming First Minister back in 2018. Another big name is
01:33Jeremy Miles, a previous First Minister hopeful who lost out to Vaughan Gething earlier on
01:38this year, who will take up the role as Health Minister, previously held by Vaughan Gething.
01:44Eluned Morgan's Deputy First Minister, Huw Irranca-Davies, has been named as the Cabinet
01:48Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs. We'll see the Senedd return next week and
01:53Eluned Morgan will finally get stuck in as First Minister.
