00:00The House Committee on Appropriations is reducing the 2025 Budget Proposal of the Office of the Vice President.

00:06According to a congressman, there are two main reasons why they decided to recommend this.

00:19Reduce the funds for the Office of the Vice President.

00:23That was recommended by the House Committee on Appropriations after their study on the 2025 Budget Proposal of the OVP.

00:31From the original allocation of the agency of more than 2 billion pesos,

00:36it was reduced by almost 1.3 billion pesos and was reduced to 733 million pesos.

00:42According to Appropriations Panel Senior Vice Chair Stella Kimbo,

00:46there are two main reasons why they recommended the reduction of funds.

00:51First, they mentioned that there are redundant social programs or initiatives that the National Government Agencies have

00:58and that the OVP is just repeating them.

01:00Even though the committee wanted to transfer the allocation to DOH and DSWD.

01:06Second, the OVP also mentioned that there are a lot of satellite offices that are just adding to the agency's expenses even though it is not necessary.

01:16But the question is, did the decision of the committee affect the OVP's boycott of the budget hearing of Kamakailan?

01:24We are just doing our job.

01:26At the end of the day, the most important thing to us would be the information needed to reflect on the budget.

01:35That's all.

01:36So, to the extent that its absence did not shed light on many issues,

01:51After Kimbo clarified, their recommendation was not approved yet and it will go through the plenary session of the camera and many other processes.

02:08House Deputy Minority Leader Franz Castro insisted that the funds for the book, Isang Kaibigan, by Vice President Duterte should be transferred to the DepEd.

02:19In the middle of the issue, Senate President Francis Escudero urged the heads of government agencies to stop the budget process and allow the Congress to do its job.

02:31Escudero also hopes that the issues up to the Pano Calang Pondo will be resolved.
