00:00Welcome to Medihan TV, the 14th and 15th of September, Tangier is about to host the 5th edition of Parkour Artistique, Être Ici.
00:19Être Ici are installations, performances, videos, music, singing and dancing,
00:25with more than dozens of artists, without forgetting, of course, symbolic and emblematic places to discover.
00:33And to talk about it, I have the pleasure of having on my side Nejoa Eliitimi, she is a painter artist and above all a member of the collective that organizes this event.
00:44Nejoa Eliitimi, thank you very much for accepting our invitation.
00:48I know that these are the last days of the organization, but first of all, to bring together the spirit of this artistic parkour, Être Ici in Tangier, how would you define it to the viewers of Medihan TV?
01:02Yes, thank you very much for the invitation. Être Ici is first of all a parkour, a pedestrian parkour, mainly because we prefer that the parkour is done on foot,
01:12to let oneself wander a little in the Medina Casbah of Tangier, but the principle is to open places that are usually closed to the public and that we make them live with a living, contemporary and multidisciplinary artistic scene.
01:24So, as you said, they are dancers, musicians, plasticians, artists, painters, sculptors.
01:30So, to make these places live, emblematic places, architectural places that really have a memory and that recall the history of Tangier.
01:40So, the experience, this magnificent parkour started 10 years ago, but we must say that the parkour comes back every two years because it is not easy to organize an event of such magnitude.
01:53So, a fifth edition, what can you tell us about this year 2024, who are the artists who have accepted to participate in Être Ici Tangier 2024?
02:05So, first of all, this edition celebrates our 10 years, because the first edition was in 2014, we are in 2024.
02:11So, already to celebrate these 10 years, we have two days instead of one day, because the principle of the event is to be ephemeral, because we do not ask the artists to bring back their canvas,
02:22we ask the artists to appropriate the place and to make a work in relation to the place. It is really a dialogue between the place, the artist and the public.
02:29So, Être Ici means how the artist sees his presence here and now in this space, the space that is really a testimony of the past and how he sees the future in this present.
02:41So, it's really a whole poetry around the place. And this year, thanks to the generosity of the artists, we have more and more artists who follow us and support the event.
02:51So, we really have a rich panel of contemporary artists, 80% Moroccans, but we also have artists who come from everywhere.
02:59We have collaborations with the Balearic Islands, with a dance company from Lyon. We really try to make this course as federative as possible.
03:10We have people who come from London, from all over the world and who are now, Être Ici becomes a rendezvous that is really so much awaited by the Tangerine public, in any case.
03:20In any case, you yourself are a plastic artist, so you started by joining this project. Today, you are in it and this year you are also participating.
03:29How can we see it on this canvas that you can ask, dear viewers, in the different spaces of the city?
03:36There are emblematic places, there are nine this year. What can you tell us about these places and how is the dialogue with the owners done so that they open their doors to you?
03:48Because they open them graciously for this event. What are the places of this year and perhaps why also the places you have chosen this year?
03:59Once again, the principle of the event is to open spaces that are usually closed to the public because people do not have access to these places.
04:05The principle is really to open these walls and to show people what is the intramural.
04:12In general, we do not see it. People who live in the neighborhood, they have a wall, they do not know.
04:15One day, we open these doors and people are really surprised by the beauty of the places.
04:20So, this year, we start with the Marhaba Palace, which was an old palace of the Ahrar family, which today, at one point, was a cabaret.
04:28Now, it has been closed for about 15 years, so we still open it exceptionally.
04:33There is the Refuge d'Arna, which is relatively open, but here we open spaces.
04:37After that, there is the Palace in Kaboun, there is the Maison Nepta, there are several.
04:41And the principle, as you see on the slide, so we have a map, so people have to move from one place to another.
04:48In each place, there is a red line that tells you from point A to point B, and then make the loop,
04:54which means that the Tangiers can walk from the Casbah to the Medina, the port of Tangier, and then go up through the Art Deco district of Tangier.
05:03So, as I was saying, maybe one last question.
05:05I see the half-artist Plasticienne is a member of the organization of this event.
05:11In 10 years, Tangier has been transformed. Tangier is transformed practically, let's say, from year to year.
05:17If there is a place that you would like to tell people, perhaps those you have chosen this year,
05:23which is the one that fascinated you the most, and where did you install your own installation?
05:30The most fascinating, I would not say that one place is more fascinating than the other, because each one has its own particularity.
05:36There is the Marhaba Palace, which is really unique.
05:39I would like to present the happy Maison Darnin, but there are also the old customs, the Atelier de la Plage,
05:47which is very little known to Tangiers and Moroccans.
05:51So, for us, it is really a surprise. We want people to discover what is there.
05:55And what is interesting is that the artists who make this place live.
05:58Because the place is closed, but here we see it even better.
06:01It is really alive with its artistic installations.
06:04There will be a ball on the Place du Méchoir, on Sunday evening at 6 p.m.,
06:13to really unite everyone and make a festive moment around dance and choreography.
06:19It will be a ball held by the Troupe de Lyon, but at the same time it will make all the spectators participate.
06:27Thank you very much for accepting our invitation.
06:30I remind you that there are still 5,000 to 6,000 visitors who are faithful to this beautiful festival.
06:40We will call it the Tangier 2024 Parkour, which takes place on the 14th and 15th of September.
06:46So, it's this weekend. Thank you very much.
06:48Exactly. Thank you. We are waiting for you.
06:50We will try to say it anyway.
06:52Thank you very much, Najwa Hichmi, for accepting our invitation.
06:55And thank you, dear viewers, for your loyalty.
06:58Stay with us.
