00:00Online sellers are being called to implement the Bureau of Internal Revenue Regulation
00:06regarding the registration of e-commerce sellers in their online business.
00:11This is Joshua Garcia's report.
00:16Online sellers are being called to the Bureau of Internal Revenue
00:20to be given a transition period.
00:23In January 2025, the BIR Revenue Regulation 15-2024 will be implemented
00:29or the registration of online sellers.
00:31Jelly's story, an online seller,
00:33says that the income from selling online is not that high,
00:36especially for those like her who are not full-time in the industry.
00:39It's not everyday, it's not daily that there are sales.
00:44In my class, it's only there that the online sellers will recover,
00:47just like me, because that's where there's a lot of income.
00:52But it's also seasonal.
00:54It's not like employment where there's a fixed income.
00:58Because of the business, the sales will go up and down.
01:02It depends on what consumers we buy from.
01:06According to the regulation, e-commerce sellers should register their online business.
01:11According to Atty. Nick Conti, an online seller advocate,
01:14there's nothing wrong with the implementation of the BIR.
01:16But the government should help online sellers to follow the regulation.
01:21Especially for those who earn just enough.
01:24The aim of the law and regulation is good,
01:27but I hope they will be given incentives like tax incentives
01:33or let's say not to pay the registration fee first
01:38or tax holiday for one year so that we can make a living.
01:43Conti added that it's possible to postpone Christmas
01:47so that online sellers can save on expenses
01:50in registering their business.
01:53For those who will start selling online,
01:56I hope they will postpone it because there are a lot of sellers who are preparing for Christmas through online selling.
02:06I hope they will start this in January so that we can help our ordinary people
02:14who earn and make a living every day through online selling.
02:20But according to the BIR,
02:21the implementation of the regulation should not be neglected
02:24because it is also for the fair treatment of online sellers
02:28in their traditional businesses.
02:30We started this last year and we are asking for an extension
02:36that's why we imposed it this July.
02:39Because there are no extensions and online sellers in traditional brick and mortar stores
02:46so that everyone pays equally.
