North Warrnambool Eagles footballer Jett Bermingham speaks after being crowned joint winner of the Hampden league's 2024 Maskell Medal.
Transcript
00:00You're joined by Jeff Birmingham, second Master School medal tonight, joint winner with Liam Hoy. How do you feel?
00:05Yeah, pretty privileged. It's obviously an unreal award to win, to be at the umpires, vote that you're in for the whole year is good.
00:14And I'm privileged to win it with Liam, he's such a good player and he's been a good player for so long.
00:20Did you go in expecting that you might be a chance or did you think some of your teammates might have stolen some votes?
00:25No, I definitely didn't think it was a chance. We've got so many good players on our team.
00:29I think we had probably Adam Wines, Paul 14 and Trevor Lewis, Paul 17, so a few.
00:34And yeah, we just share the load, so no, I didn't expect to win.
00:37And how have you found this season? Through to the grand final, it's been a great season, team-wise and individual-wise. Have you enjoyed it?
00:42Yeah, it's been a great season. Hopefully we can top it off this weekend.
00:46But all in all, we've had fun and it's been a very successful season to this point and hopefully we can do one more on the weekend.
00:53How do you feel ahead of the weekend?
00:54Yeah, obviously getting nervous now, but hopefully we can do it and it'll be good for the supporter base, for the club, for everyone to just get one.
01:03Do you reckon you're a better footballer now than when you first won it?
01:06I don't know, that's hard to judge. It's completely different, probably players from back then, a bit lighter frame back then.
01:13So yeah, I don't know, it's too hard to compare.
01:15Well good, congratulations and enjoy your night.
01:17Cheers, thanks.
