05:57I personally had the pleasure and privilege of sitting down with Lex Luger and
06:01finding out just who is Lex Luger.
06:05Look at that, Frankensteiner, forget about it.

06:18To the Grimlin Tag Team Championship and a hometown crowd of Suburban Detroit.
06:25All right, let's take you back now to the interview that was conducted.
06:27I think you'll find Lex Luger to be an informative, honest,
06:31interesting, proud, and patriotic.
06:38I never had a gung-ho dad when it came to sports at all.
06:41My dad was on a music scholarship studying to be a concert pianist.
06:45And when he was in college, he studied the arts, he studied music.
06:50He stressed that in our lives, but more than anything, he stressed academics.
06:54And as I grew up and wanted to participate in athletics and
06:57wanted that outlet, he made it crystal clear to me that if I didn't get
07:02straight A's in school, that I wasn't gonna be allowed to participate in athletics.
07:07My dad said that, straight A's, and he meant it, and I knew that.
07:11They made me participate in one, like I had to be in chorus or band.
07:16One other aspect of growing up, they wanted me to be well-rounded.
07:20And looking back on it, I remember singing in chorus and
07:22my friends making fun of me and everything when I was in front of the school.
07:25But looking back on it now, I think it made me a more well-rounded individual.
07:30And it wasn't such a bad thing.
07:34It's a strange thing, I think, in my life.
07:38I've always had, I don't know how to put it, the certain feeling that,
07:44because I think I moved around from place to place as a youngster.
07:48I think I used athletics as my calling card, actually as my form of
07:52communication for social acceptance, for friends.
07:56And I was actually, I'm basically, even to this day,
07:59a lot of my friends who knew me when I grew up, I'd laugh or
08:04they're shocked when they see me on TV in front of millions of viewers wrestling on
08:08TV or talking, cuz I was actually, as I grew up, very shy and introverted.
08:12It's a funny thing, as a matter of fact.
08:13I remember in high school, and here I am excelling in athletics,
08:20fortunate enough to do that.
08:21And I was so shy, I never asked a girl out on a date in high school.
08:26The only time I went to a dance in high school was at the Sadie Hawkins when
08:28the girls asked the guys.
08:30It was an amazing thing.
08:32And I think if you excel in sports and people look at you in a certain way,
08:37I think cuz I was rather quiet and shy and rather introverted,
08:43I think a lot of times that's mistaken as being arrogant by people who don't know you.
08:47My friends who really got to know me knew better.
08:50But when people look at you, they want to stereotype you or
08:54prejudge you by how you look and how you act.
08:56If you're shy, but you excel at something, they think you're arrogant or
09:00stuck on yourself.
09:01And it's like a vicious circle.
09:03The more people think about you, and if you're shy,
09:06the more it almost propagates itself.
09:07It was really strange.
09:10And sometimes I feel I fight that to this day, now,
09:15even in my career with people on television or in the press many times.
