00:00Welcome back to the block.
00:13Kitchen Week is in full swing today, with cabinetry, ovens and other appliances being
00:17installed in all our new holiday home builds.
00:20But if you had the distinct feeling there was something missing at the block today,
00:25well, you'd be 100% right.
00:29And that's because the block is currently 100% blockhead free.
00:35They're all down at the Woolamai Surf Lifesaving Club, putting the finishing touches on our
00:40latest block renovation, an epic two-team charity challenge event that has been four
00:46days in the making.
00:51In case you missed it...
00:53I'm actually getting very, very grumpy with the ocean team.
00:57I made Keithers back to oversee the challenge.
00:59I'm going to go back to the block and be the blockinator again.
01:08Where have you guys been?
01:09We've been here, and we're going to be at the challenge tomorrow.
01:11So far, you guys have done literally zero.
01:15Maddie and Charlotte's builder, Zach...
01:17If team dynamic isn't going to work, sorry guys.
01:20...decided to depart the competition.
01:23It's just not the way back.
01:25I wouldn't have wanted things to end.
01:28Just when you thought the others might be supportive of our newcomers...
01:31You know the girls have asked Kyle to be their chippy?
01:35Uh, nope.
01:36You reckon Duncan was good at playing the game?
01:39Kyle never lost anyway.
01:47Really?
01:48So, Duncan's steroids.
01:50Oh, f***.
01:52More about that later.
01:53But for now, here's what you need to know about the challenge.
01:56One, two, three, four.
01:58Breathe new life into the main function area up in the surf club.
02:03Which I divided into two zones.
02:08On our team, we had Courtney and Grant.
02:11And Maddie and Charlotte.
02:13That left Ricky and Hayden and Carly and Brad.
02:17So to even things up, we called in some certified block royalty.
02:22Kyle and Cara.
02:24Dream come true.
02:28A massive $10,000 cash from Combank.
02:35The Ocean team are taking on the Western side.
02:37Which has the function space and lounge areas.
02:40Transforming their space into a relaxed living area.
02:43With Grafico wall art, comfy couches and some functional round tables.
02:49The Island team are tackling the Eastern side.
02:51Which has the bar and dining areas.
02:55Sprucing up the bar, adding some tall tables and stools.
02:58And creating a custom bench seat that runs the length of the side wall.
03:04Now that you're all up to speed, let's crack on with the challenge.
03:07Block's a tough game, innit?
03:08Oh, it's tough.
03:09Bit knackered?
03:10Yeah, a bit knackered.
03:11Toughen up.
03:12You've got one hour to go, boys.
03:13One hour.
03:15We're not on track at this point.
03:17But I reckon we'll get there.
03:19There's just a few flat packs to put together.
03:23Bench seats.
03:24I don't know how we're going to get all this together.
03:26The other team looked like they were having a really hard time building lots of flat packs.
03:30Even Shelly got involved.
03:32You've got the super case.
03:33We do.
03:34They've got Shelly.
03:35I don't really think this is a fair fight, to be honest.
03:44And while our block heads have been busy with the main function room,
03:47I've taken care of the kitchen.
03:50And Shelly has also been helping Nadia from the block shop
03:53downstairs in the bunk room.
03:55Oh, my goodness.
03:56What have you got there?
03:57Artwork from artist Blaine.
03:59Oh, I love it.
04:00And they've left the 9 and 6 boys working on the outdoor deck in their wake.
04:05Now, Aidan, Simmo,
04:07you named your company 9 and 6
04:09because you've built nine houses in six weeks.
04:12Yeah.
04:13One barbecue, two days.
04:14I know.
04:15What's going on?
04:16We're close.
04:17We're close.
04:18I know.
04:22Do we want any of these hung up?
04:24Yeah, if we can get them.
04:30Just sort of doing the last few finishing touches,
04:33a bit of zhuzhing.
04:35Vacuuming.
04:36Oh, my God.
04:37Brad and his vacuuming.
04:38Holy.
04:40Everyone keeps walking on my bloody carpet.
04:42Don't even think.
04:43Hey, boots, boots, boots.
04:45You want them off?
04:46Mate, you just walked through a corridor of sand.
04:49Where are you going?
04:51Where I want to go.
04:52No, stop walking through the door, please.
04:54Could have easily gone through the kitchen.
04:57Just trying to clean the walkway
04:58and everyone just using it as a thoroughfare
05:01because they're in a hurry.
05:07And the gifts keep on coming.
05:08All right.
05:09Hi, Kirstie.
05:10You're amazing.
05:11That is beautiful, Kirstie.
05:12Come on through.
05:13Let's see if we can find a spot on the wall for it, yeah?
05:15I want to take the tags off.
05:28Here we go.
05:33Tools down.
05:39You are taped to the wall.
05:41Good job.
05:42Wow, what a transformation.
05:44In just four days,
05:45our blockheads have turned this function room
05:48from old and cold to modern and inviting.
05:51OK, gang, your challenge this week was to breathe new life
05:55into the main function area of the Woolamai Surf Club,
05:58which I believe you absolutely have,
06:01and you've done a great job.
06:02Now, the winner of today's challenge
06:05is going to share $10,000 from CommBank,
06:09which is absolutely fantastic.
06:11Now, Jase, president of the club, what do you think, mate?
06:15It's amazing.
06:16I just can't believe the transformation
06:18that you've achieved in such a short time.
06:20It's incredible.
06:21We're so grateful.
06:22Great, terrific.
06:23I'm glad you're happy.
06:24Now, that is not all, buddy,
06:26because CommBank have got a fantastic little gift for the club.
06:30Lisa, over to you.
06:32Right, so this grant from CommBank
06:35will help the Woolamai Beach Surf Lifesaving Club
06:38to continue its important work that you do within the community
06:41and to help create a brighter future for all.
06:44So thank you so much.
06:45Thank you so much.
06:46Congratulations.
06:48Wow.
06:49To judge today's challenge, we are bringing in the big guns.
06:54Interior designer extraordinaire,
06:58expert judge over 17 seasons of The Block,
07:02please put your hands together for Neil Whittaker.
07:05CHEERING
07:12Neil Whittaker has been a judging powerhouse on The Block
07:15for many years, joining us way back in 2010.
07:19Clever idea, beautifully done.
07:21Revered style guru,
07:23Neil is also widely known for his love of...
07:25A lamp?
07:26A lamp.
07:27Of course you need a lamp.
07:28A couple of great lamps.
07:30I'll have a lamp here, I'll have a lamp here.
07:32Lamp, lamp, lamp, lamp.
07:34There is still no bloody lamp.
07:37All right, Mr. Lamp.
07:39I need a, in a living room, I need a lamp.
07:42I love Neil.
07:43I just like, anyone on TV is a celebrity to me,
07:46so when I see them in real life, it's, like, insane.
07:49That means you're going to be a celebrity.
07:51I'll scream when I see myself on TV.
07:53Lovely to see you, Neil.
07:55So good to see, God, so many of you.
07:58Wow.
07:59You've got a tough job today, mate.
08:01This is one half of the room
08:02and that is the other half of the room.
08:04The line's right down through here.
08:05You guys get out there and cook on that barbie
08:08and have some snags while Neil does his thing.
08:10Yes, do what you do best, Neil.
08:12I cannot wait, I cannot wait.
08:20Our favourite part of our zone
08:22was definitely the lounge area with the Nintendo Switch
08:26and the games and the books.
08:29We loved it all.
08:31Let's move right into the space here, Scotty.
08:33Sure, let's do that.
08:34Let's get a good feel of this.
08:35Well, Neil, there used to be a survey to the kitchen here.
08:37Yeah.
08:38And then they've graphicated that wall with it.
08:40Very nice.
08:41I love the old image.
08:42I love it.
08:43It's a beautiful photograph.
08:44I did notice it's not this beach.
08:47No, but they do also patrol that beach
08:50and help out if there's any dramas down that way.
08:52And I was speaking to Jase actually
08:53about the history of surfing here in Phillip Island.
08:55Apparently it started at Summerlin Beach.
08:57So there is still a connection there, which is good.
09:00I wondered if it was a massive faux pas or something,
09:02but no, it's not.
09:03It's connected.
09:04I mean, it's a beautiful image
09:05and it kind of sets the tone, doesn't it, for this?
09:07Yep.
09:08I love the way this side here
09:10kind of beautifully combines the old and the new.
09:14I mean, we've got all the really important memorabilia,
09:17the club insignia and everything there
09:18that you have to have,
09:19because that's the story, isn't it, of this place?
09:21But they've also managed to make it feel contemporary and relaxed.
09:26Kind of clubby, as in a sort of an old-fashioned club,
09:31but they've given it a bit of a modern twist,
09:33which I really like.
09:34And they've got that perfect view as their backdrop,
09:36haven't they?
09:37Which the island team didn't quite have.
09:49I've probably got two favourite things,
09:51probably the bar and the bench seat that Cole's made.
09:55That is an amazing effort for him to put that together
09:59with Ricky's help.
10:02But to go past Christian Cole's bar, pretty tough.
10:07This is beautiful timber.
10:09Oh, my God.
10:10And this was all brand new.
10:11There was corrugated iron here.
10:13Yeah, I saw the photos.
10:14It's so beautiful.
10:15Christian Cole, of course.
10:16Of course.
10:18And also, we've got a glass washer over here for the bar,
10:21plus a little sink and a little area there.
10:23Nice splashback, nice tiles.
10:25There's a lot more to show you on the other side of this bar,
10:28because that is brand new.
10:30Wow.
10:31This is all new.
10:32Yes, and hand-built.
10:33Hand-built?
10:34In four days.
10:35Four days.
10:36Amongst other things.
10:37That's ridiculous, isn't it?
10:38Wow.
10:39Yeah.
10:40The ceiling fans.
10:41Oh, look, you can't go past a big-ass fan.
10:43Big-ass fans, white haiku fans.
10:46They are the best.
10:47They are.
10:48They've got a memorabilia section over here, as well,
10:50that they've done.
10:51This is what I mean about them respecting
10:53the story of this place.
10:54I mean, they've realized the importance of everything
10:57that's on these walls, and you just can't take that away.
11:00I think that it allows the story of the club itself
11:04to shine through.
11:06Now, Neil, it's been a long day, mate,
11:08and the barbie's going out there.
11:09Yes.
11:10And I'm thinking about maybe a cold beer.
11:12Yes.
11:13And maybe a snag.
11:14Yes.
11:15That's a good job.
11:16Hurry up, you mean.
11:17No, no, no.
11:18That's what you're saying, isn't it?
11:19Sort of.
11:20But you have a think about it.
11:21We'll go outside, shall we?
11:22Leave Neil to it.
11:23All right.
11:24See you in a minute.
11:25Enjoy the memorabilia.
11:26And not to be outdone, have a look
11:28at my back-of-house makeover.
11:31With a little help from V2C Furniture and Artists Lane,
11:35the Combank crew have made the bunk room look brand new.
11:39And the river job Keith and the Nine and Six Boys
11:41did building a windbreak wall to shield their brand
11:44from the BBQ installation.
11:48OK, before we announce the win, I'm
11:50going to invite in some clubbies that have been
11:52helping us and hanging around.
11:54Come in, gang.
11:56Hey.
11:57Hey.
11:59Come in.
12:00File through.
12:01Get a good look around.
12:04It was actually really awesome to see them
12:06all walk in and their faces.
12:09There's a colour on the walls.
12:11To see the genuine reaction of the club members,
12:14like the kids in particular, how excited they were.
12:17So, gang, what do you think?
12:19All right.
12:26Oh, Neil, we didn't bring you back for an easy one.
12:28No, you did not.
12:29No.
12:30But I think that response tells us all we need
12:32to know about the end result.
12:34I'm really, really impressed.
12:35But, OK, the team that I think has really
12:39had the biggest impact on this build,
12:42through the choices that they've made
12:44and the areas that they have renovated,
12:48would have to be the Island team.
12:53Yeah.
12:54Yeah.
12:55Yeah.
12:56Yeah.
12:57Yeah.
12:58Yeah.
12:59Yeah.
13:00Yeah.
13:01Yeah.
13:02Yeah.
13:03Yeah.
13:04Yeah.
13:05Yeah.
13:06Yeah.
13:07Yeah.
13:09Karl or Cara, let's dip a cake.
13:12Congratulations, Island team,
13:13ten thousand bucks from Combank coming your way.
13:15And, of course, Karl and Cara get a zip.
13:19So, it's five each, you beauty.
13:21Now, the baby's going out there.
13:23We've had a really great day.
13:25Would you like to have a snag and a beer?
13:27Me too.
13:28Let's go.
13:35I love that.
13:37How good were the smiles on all the faces coming in?
13:41So good.
13:42The challenge at the Surf Lifesaver Club was one that we probably won't ever forget in
13:47our lives.
13:48To be able to deliver something for the community and to see the smiles and the faces of those
13:53that work at the club today at the end of it was probably the best part of it for me.
13:58I don't think I'll ever forget the moment that I saw Kyle and Cara running down the
14:03beach in slow motion towards us.
14:04One of the greatest moments of my life.
14:06I'll be ready, I'll be ready, I'll be ready, I'll be ready, I'll be ready, I'll be ready,
14:14whenever you need me, oh don't you be.
14:17Yep, whenever there's a kind soul in need of renovation help, our super K's will be
14:23there.
14:24Thanks again Kyle and Cara, we couldn't have done it without you.
14:30Coming up.
14:31Welcome, welcome.
14:33The Kingsman chocolate wheel is back with some massive prizes.
14:37A full set of steak knives.
14:40Shelly and I check out this year's cutting edge kitchen designs.
14:43The pan talks to the cooktop and tells you if it's getting too hot and something's getting
14:46burnt it'll turn it down.
14:48And I lay down the law.
14:50If you don't finish your painting this week, I will blow up Deluxe.
14:54But before we get to all that, we'll find out whether super K Kyle has decided to join
14:59the House 1 team.
15:01Um, look, me and Cara have had a chat.
15:23How are you always the first to have coffees, mate?
15:26I'm very sneaky.
15:28Morning all.
15:30Another lovely day in paradise.
15:33Your kitchens are coming along very well I hear.
15:37So benchtops today, so they'll be coming in.
15:40So you'll need to make sure you've got safe access for the guys to bring your stone benchtops
15:46in.
15:47Today, the peril's back.
15:49We're going to put even somewhere around about House 5.
15:52We're lifting stone for their benchtops, but we're also doing all the glass for House
15:585.
15:59So all the danger, most of it's here.
16:01The other danger, of course, is Phil's back.
16:04Congratulations to Phil on number three daughter.
16:06Phil's usually, you know, digging a hole somewhere, putting concrete.
16:09Stay away from him.
16:11Um, that's it.
16:12Have a good day.
16:13Stay safe.
16:14Be nice to each other.
16:15Ah yes, Kitchen Week.
16:18As many of our regular viewers would know, Kitchen Week is regarded as one of the most
16:22important weeks on the block.
16:24Because...
16:25Kitchens sell houses.
16:27Kitchens sell houses.
16:28Kitchens sell houses.
16:29The kitchen, in some cases, sells the home.
16:33In most cases.
16:34Kitchens.
16:35Kitchens sell houses.
16:36Kitchens and master bedrooms sell houses.
16:37And when it comes to kitchen constructions, we've got some of the best in the business.
16:41But delivering five state-of-the-art kitchens to the block in one week does require a lot
16:47of pre-planning.
16:48In fact, it was way back in week two that our block heads had to lock in their design
16:53plans for their kitchens this week.
16:56I think seeing it in the big piece absolutely sells it.
16:59It's so beautiful.
17:00Yeah.
17:01Yeah.
17:02I love it.
17:03Completely sold.
17:04Perfect.
17:05And today, with minimal access to their kitchens due to a heap of stone benches and splash
17:08packs going in, our block heads are left to play the waiting game.
17:14Hi.
17:21How does it feel when things are a bit slower?
17:23Is it cost-putting at all?
17:26When things are a bit slower, it definitely takes its toll.
17:28Sort of get real slack real quick.
17:30Yep.
17:31You know what they say.
17:32Idle hands are the devil's tools.
17:34Double, double toil and trouble.
17:38And after a lovely sleep-in, Maddie in house one is just waking up to her very first day
17:43on the block without a builder.
17:45How are you feeling after yesterday?
17:47I actually feel quite relieved, to be honest, which is an odd thing considering we're builder-less.
17:55Now, if you're only just joining us, you're probably wondering what went down yesterday.
18:00Sometimes the way that you come across is a little bit aggressive and a little bit intimidating.
18:05I'm sorry that you can't handle the way that I talk and that I've got a bit of a tone.
18:10That's not an apology.
18:12I think this is a made decision.
18:14I think we're going to be out.
18:16We're not going to no longer work here with you guys.
18:19This team dynamic isn't going to work.
18:21Sorry, guys.
18:23And with that, Zach, the builder marches off into the sunset,
18:26which brings us to today and Maddie and Charlotte's current predicament.
18:31What are you going to do?
18:32Find another builder.
18:34But we got the challenge all day yesterday, so I did not have time to look at that.
18:40So hopefully today we'll get on to that.
18:43Potentially we might con Carl to come in.
18:48Who?
18:49Supercase.
18:50Turns out yesterday Maddie and Charlotte saw an opportunity to bring a revered block builder on board.
18:56Maybe we could ask Kyle.
18:58It's a very, very, very long shot.
19:01But we might as well throw out the line and see if anything bites.
19:05No harm.
19:06Maybe for a week or two you can help us.
19:09I would love the opportunity to help you guys out.
19:12I really would.
19:13If I can rejuggle a few things and make it work, I would love to come on board.
19:18But I don't want to give you yes yet.
19:21What do the others think of that?
19:23I don't know.
19:25Don't know. Don't care.
19:27Well, strap yourselves in because the Supercase have just arrived.
19:31And we're about to find out what Carl has finally decided.
19:35Knock, knock.
19:36Oh, hello.
19:37Good morning.
19:38How are we?
19:39Good. How are you?
19:40Yeah, good.
19:41Good to see you.
19:42Hello.
19:43This is the pad, hey?
19:44Yeah, it is.
19:45Welcome to our humble abode.
19:48It's a bit messy, but you know.
19:49Hey, we know what it's like.
19:50Yeah.
19:54Look, me and Carl have had a chat.
19:56I'm not going to be able to stay on and help you guys out.
20:00There's just a lot going on in the outside world that I need to get back for and get to.
20:05It's a long shot.
20:06Yeah.
20:07That was a tricky one to deliver because, like, I am not a no person.
20:11I'm a yes guy.
20:12I love to say yes, especially in this environment.
20:15You love it here.
20:16Yeah, he just loves it.
20:17Would love to stay.
20:18If there is anything that, you know, you want a second opinion on, I'll give you my number.
20:22Give me a call.
20:23Yeah, thank you.
20:24I appreciate that.
20:25Happy to give you some advice from afar.
20:26You're the best.
20:27Yeah.
20:28We knew Arsene Keil was going to be a very, very long shot, seeing that he has two children
20:32and lives in the Central Coast and was down here for four days.
20:35And also has his own huge project.
20:37But, you know, worth a try.
20:39Thank you, guys.
20:40So nice to meet you guys.
20:41So nice to meet you guys, too.
20:42Hopefully we get to come back at the end and see the finished house.
20:46Where to from here, guys?
20:47Well, I think we have to start ringing a few people, maybe asking a few people if they
20:52have any recommendations.
20:53I think that's the plan for today.
20:55And hopefully we can lock someone in for Monday.
21:03Which contestants do you think are creating a winning room this week?
21:07To cast your vote, all you have to do is head to the Block website now.
21:11And while you're there, don't forget to check out all of our amazing room galleries.
21:20It's kitchen week on the Block and as we fast approach the halfway point of the season,
21:25a very specific line of questioning usually starts to crop up.
21:34Overall, how is your budget looking?
21:36It is not looking great.
21:39About 10K in the red, maybe a little bit under.
21:42The last time I checked, I think we were at...
21:44Under five.
21:45We're under five.
21:46Some budget is not looking all that great.
21:48Still in the red in the budget.
21:50Overall, budget is looking really good.
21:53Well, with most of our Block budgets on the squeeze, it's time for another edition of
21:58The Kingsman Chocolate Wheel.
22:04Oh, hello.
22:06Come on in, come on in.
22:07Welcome.
22:08That's it, line up, line up.
22:10Ready, ready.
22:11Welcome, welcome.
22:13We had no idea what we were walking into, but we saw some prizes on the board.
22:17It's kitchen week.
22:21You always need more in your kitchen, don't you?
22:23You can never have too much.
22:24You can never have too much.
22:25No.
22:26Like you could need maybe a full set of steak knives.
22:30Steak knives.
22:32I haven't bought any yet.
22:34Is there more shelf?
22:35There's plenty more, as you can see here on The Kingsman Chocolate Wheel.
22:39There's $1,000 from Tide.
22:41$2,000 pantry styling.
22:44What else is up here on the board, Scotty?
22:46Oh, this.
22:47This.
22:48This right here.
22:49Oh, wow.
22:50Framing to a T.
22:51$15,000 with a timber frame.
22:54How magnificent is that?
22:56There was $1,000 from Offshore Design, $1,000 from Tide, $2,000 at Pantry Styler.
23:04We were gunning for the TV, but it's the luck of the wheel.
23:07I know you're a competitive bunch, so there's always going to be the challenge of who gets to spin first.
23:12So, choose one card.
23:14This is the number.
23:16You'll be spinning.
23:17Choose one card.
23:19Choose one card.
23:20No.
23:21We picked number one.
23:23And we went first.
23:25I did a massive spin.
23:27Good spin.
23:28Good spin.
23:31I looked at the board, and the first three things I saw was steak knives, chocolate, and...
23:36Fruit bowl.
23:37Fruit bowl.
23:38I was like, we're going to win one of those.
23:39I can just feel it.
23:43It doesn't end.
23:44Roll a fruit.
23:45Roll a fruit.
23:46Roll a fruit.
23:47Oh, my God, I can't breathe.
23:48They can afford something else.
23:49Yeah, 100%.
23:50That's a big spin.
23:51Oh, my God.
23:52Roll a fruit.
23:53TV.
23:55Oh, my God.
24:00Here we go.
24:01Here we go.
24:02Look on Mimi's face when she won the steak knives.
24:12That is funny.
24:13Christian was disappointed, and I actually turned around to him and said,
24:16mate, you won, like, 140 grand in your first nine days here.
24:19And he was like, oh, yeah.
24:20He's got, like, $100,000 to spend with Cameron.
24:22She can buy whatever he wants.
24:24All right, who's number two?
24:25Yep.
24:26Thank you very much.
24:27Hand in your tickets.
24:28We won a $15,000 Wal-Art TV.
24:32Go.
24:33Go, go, go, go.
24:34Go, mate.
24:35Go, go, go, go.
24:36The Challenge Kings.
24:37Yes.
24:38I reckon the TV's yours.
24:39Oh, my God.
24:40You've done very well.
24:41Here we go.
24:42The Challenge Kings.
24:43Oh, oh, oh, oh.
24:44Oh, my gosh.
24:45$1,000.
24:46What have we got?
24:47I'll flop you.
24:48We won $1,000 at Offshore Design, I think.
24:51Maddie and Charlotte won the same prize.
24:54Yeah.
24:55We'll take that.
24:56We'll take that.
24:57Brad and Kylie won the $2,000 worth of styling.
25:00Oh, that's good.
25:03Which seemed like the biggest prize at the time, until...
25:06Lucky luck.
25:07Let's do it.
25:08Oh, dancing.
25:09You know what Grant said before he spun?
25:10He's like, I'm feeling very lucky today.
25:11I said, let me see.
25:12Let me see.
25:13Let me see.
25:14Let me see.
25:15Let me see.
25:16Let me see.
25:18I said, let me spin it.
25:19Let me spin it.
25:20I'm feeling lucky.
25:21Here we go.
25:22Good speed.
25:23Come on.
25:24Come on.
25:25Oh, my God.
25:26I feel so anxious.
25:27Oh, oh.
25:28Oh, my God.
25:29How about that for luck?
25:30That really gave us some energy.
25:31We've never...
25:32I've never won anything in my life.
25:33We were selected to come on the block out of like 40,000 people.
25:34Yeah, I know.
25:35Yeah.
25:36Yeah.
25:37Yeah.
25:38Yeah.
25:39Yeah.
25:40Yeah.
25:41Yeah.
25:42Yeah.
25:43Yeah.
25:44Yeah.
25:45Yeah.
25:46Yeah.
25:47Yeah.
25:48Yeah.
25:49Yeah.
25:50Yeah.
25:51Yeah.
25:52I know.
25:53I know.
25:54I know.
25:55I know.
25:56I know, I know.
25:57I know.
25:58Congratulations.
25:59$15,000 on a framed TV, thanks to Kingsman.
26:00You're beauty.
26:01All right.
26:02I want to see your kitchens.
26:03Back you go.
26:06Good job.
26:07Congratulations.
26:08Wow.
26:09We're so proud of you.
26:11And what better place to start than out the back in house four, where my little mate,
26:14the blocked penguin, still resides.
26:16We're definitely so far from coastal with this kitchen and look you're either gonna
26:22love it or you're gonna hate it.
26:24House 4's kitchen is located adjacent to the laundry and powder room and blends into an
26:29open plan entertaining space along with the dining and living areas.
26:34Kylie and Brad's galley style kitchen features black timbers, a luxurious Laurent Cosentino
26:39marble stone island bench, gold sink and tap, as well as cutting edge spinning corner cabinets.
26:46Wow.
26:47Wow, wow, wow.
26:48Hello.
26:49I love this.
26:50Do you love it?
26:51I do.
26:52The only word for your house is bougie, isn't it?
26:53There's actually no...
26:54Oh, I love that profile.
26:55Look at this profile.
26:56Which is that profile there.
26:57Yeah.
26:58Beautiful.
26:59Yes.
27:00It's just bougie, darling.
27:01Bougie.
27:02I like, I like.
27:03What is it, Cheryl?
27:04Bougie.
27:05What's that?
27:06Bougie, darling.
27:07It's bougie.
27:08It's just so bougie.
27:09It's beautiful.
27:10Yeah.
27:11Now, I know a secret about Kingsman, what they've come up with, and that is this corner
27:20cabinet.
27:21I know this, because they're always innovating, and I've got to work out how to do this.
27:26Oh, there we go.
27:27Watch this, Cheryl.
27:28Oh, wow.
27:29That is bougie.
27:30Yes.
27:31And then...
27:32No.
27:33How good is that?
27:34And it doesn't stick out into your hallway.
27:35No.
27:37No.
27:38How good is that?
27:39And it doesn't stick out into your hallway or anything.
27:41No.
27:42No.
27:43The Scotty and Shelley walk-arounds are always really beneficial to us.
27:45It's nice to have, I guess, genuine feedback that are just from real people, not actual
27:50designers.
27:52We get the black kitchen, because we love the black kitchen.
27:54Yes.
27:55You love...
27:56Finally, you've come into your own.
27:57You love the black kitchen.
27:58We'll see they're finally getting it all now.
27:59This is sort of where we were all going.
28:01And this, I'm really proud of you for sticking to your guns, because obviously, you designed
28:04this kitchen in week one.
28:05Yeah.
28:06Yeah.
28:07And then we saw a couple of bedrooms and a few bathrooms, and everyone was questioning
28:11where you were going, but you've stuck to your plan.
28:14Yeah.
28:15And now it does have a beautiful, cohesive feel.
28:16It all ties.
28:17Yes.
28:18Yeah.
28:19Now, I know you're jip-rocking to there, right?
28:20That's fine.
28:21That's what we're doing for this week.
28:22Yeah.
28:23But when it comes to living and dining, like, holy dooly, the plaster bill...
28:29Yeah.
28:30You've got to go all of that, all of that...
28:32Yeah.
28:33And all...
28:34Everything.
28:35It's the biggest plaster job in block history, I would have thought.
28:38Yeah.
28:39Wow.
28:40I know.
28:41It's definitely going to be a tricky one.
28:42It's very daunting that they mentioned that our ceiling could be the biggest in block
28:44history.
28:45Looking up at the grandeur of it, it's super overwhelming.
28:48And we can't quite fathom how we're going to do it.
28:52Now, the interesting thing about Kitchen Week is that Kingsmen do such a magnificent job
28:57that every kitchen's incredible.
28:58Yeah.
28:59Yeah.
29:00And we say it all the time, it's yours to lose.
29:01Yeah.
29:03But then you've had two yours to loses in the last two weeks.
29:07You could have played the penguin twice and taken out two wins.
29:10Yeah.
29:11And you haven't.
29:12Okay, Kylie and Pratt, decision time.
29:15What are you going to do with the bonus point penguin?
29:18Yeah.
29:19No, I don't want to play it.
29:20She needs to play a point.
29:21I'm not playing a point.
29:22Why?
29:23Because I don't want to.
29:24I'm saving it.
29:26Okay.
29:28See you later.
29:29Kylie and Pratt.
29:30Nah, it's not quite close enough after that one, Scotty.
29:31Copy that.
29:33Just play the penguin, you imbeciles.
29:36Once the penguin's back in play, we're giving other people the option to still win over
29:41us.
29:42As much as, yes, you win $10,000 if you do win, putting it back in play gives somebody
29:46else, if they win it, the same chance at winning $10,000 over us.
29:52So we're never ever playing, ever.
29:57Coming up, the boys from house three are getting creative with some Grafico artwork.
30:02Shelly, the bar crusher, is getting her first tattoo.
30:05With a big surprise reveal in store for my mate Shelly.
30:09This is...
30:10What do you reckon, Shelly?
30:11Oh my God.
30:12What do you think?
30:13Money on my mind, I'm kicking ass, taking names.
30:24Welcome back to a bustling Block Friday with kitchen installs in full swing.
30:29There are stone benches going down, plaster going up, plenty of kitchen cabinetry going
30:34in and over at house one, the girls are getting a lesson in filtered water and their complete
30:39home filtration system.
30:42Okay, so what we've got here is a filter only after one month.
30:47Usually the filters last somewhere between six to 12 months, really depends on the water
30:50volume coming into the home and the water quality.
30:53That's how it started off.
30:54And then you can imagine what it looks like after 12 months.
30:56Yeah, that's great.
30:57And it's stopping all that gunk getting into your home and fixtures and fittings and tap
31:01wear and all through your water using appliances.
31:04So this softens the water, it does a great job of protecting people's largest investment,
31:08which is obviously their family home.
31:11Speaking of large investments, next door in house two, Courtney and Grant are investing
31:15heavily in their kitchen this week.
31:18This week we really want to win, win outright.
31:21We want to smash it in its kitchen weight.
31:23Yeah, I agree.
31:24This would be the most important win.
31:25Yeah.
31:26House two's kitchen takes pride of place in the open living area with a laundry behind.
31:31Featuring a Patagonian inspired stone bench with matching stone splashback, a five in
31:37one oven, state of the art zip tap that's worth, wait for it, $8,000.
31:43As well as a massive 150 bottle wine fridge that's worth, and this is going to bite, $15,000.
31:51They've also created extra space for a butler's kitchen with an extra sink.
31:57Dishwasher out.
31:58This is a little retreat.
31:59Hello.
32:00Hello.
32:01How are you?
32:02Good.
32:03How are you?
32:04Good.
32:05Good.
32:06That's interesting, isn't it?
32:07And then this little kick here.
32:08This little curve here.
32:09Oh.
32:10Scotty loves a curve.
32:11Yeah.
32:12It's like a subtle, subtle feature.
32:13That's cool.
32:14Geez, that's going to go so well with your curve television.
32:17It is.
32:18Congratulations.
32:20What a win on the chocolate wheel.
32:22I thought we were going to get chocolate, but this is so much better.
32:25So much better.
32:26So much better.
32:27Is this your sink or is this your cooktop here?
32:29Our sink.
32:30Sink.
32:31Oh, okay, sink.
32:32Cooktop is here.
32:33So this belongs over here then.
32:34Over there.
32:35This is quite magical.
32:36This is magical.
32:37Do you want to explain?
32:38Even somebody like Courtney could cook and get it right on this one.
32:40So this is the only cooktop in the world that has Bluetooth cooking.
32:43What?
32:44Which needs Bluetooth, specific Bluetooth pans.
32:46What?
32:47What do you mean?
32:49So basically, the pan talks to the cooktop and tells you if it's getting too hot and
32:51something's getting burnt, it'll turn it down.
32:53Yes.
32:54So all those little things.
32:55That's probably it.
32:56Pretty incredible.
32:57And then we've got other appliances as well.
32:58From Asco.
32:59We can pull this off for now.
33:00Rip that off, yeah.
33:01We were lucky enough to get their coffee machine to start, which I think is the most important.
33:05Two ovens, steamer, a heating drawer.
33:08Heater drawer, steaming drawer.
33:09We've got a beautiful wine fridge, which is behind it.
33:12Wow, okay.
33:13So this is a $15,000 wine fridge.
33:16Wow.
33:18This kitchen of ours, this house, is really well set up for some pretty cool dinner parties.
33:23That's great.
33:24You know what?
33:25You're building beautiful rooms.
33:27Every time I walk in here on a Sunday, I go, wow, this is a winning room.
33:30Well, that means a lot, eh?
33:31And the curb.
33:32You've got the curb.
33:33I love it.
33:34Come on, Shel, let's go.
33:35Thanks, guys.
33:36All right, good luck, guys.
33:37Bye.
33:38Thanks.
33:39That feels really good.
33:40Scotty obviously knows what he's talking about.
33:41He's very experienced.
33:42They both do.
33:43They both have amazing style as well and so much experience.
33:45So hearing it from them each week, on a Friday especially, because sometimes you're just
33:48like, are we doing the right thing?
33:49Like, we don't know.
33:50So hearing it from them is really nice to hear.
33:53Yeah.
33:54Another team who has reason to believe this week, Ricky and Hayden down the back in house
33:59three.
34:00This is starting to look pretty sick, eh?
34:03Yeah.
34:04After, you know, nearly building a winning room last week with the main, this is our
34:09week, especially with Dunk on board.
34:11I reckon we've got a good chance.
34:12This is looking like a winning kitchen.
34:15Absolutely.
34:16We love Dunk and having him on the team.
34:18To get him to say yes, to put the Balzac hat on.
34:21Wow.
34:22The cap looks good, Dunk.
34:23Sorry?
34:24The cap.
34:25The cap.
34:26Well, as I said to the boys, if they're sitting with me working, I'll put it on as part of
34:31the team.
34:32If they're not here, my normal one goes on.
34:35You don't want to be seen on your own with a hat like this.
34:38But when there's two guys that look as good as them, I think I pull it off a little better.
34:42If it was sunnier, I'd put the glasses on too.
34:45But I'm looking forward to our fishing trip where I can wear the glasses.
34:49Oh yeah, even better.
34:50Oh yeah, that's coming.
34:51Get the bar crusher out.
34:52Now, if you're wondering what a bar crusher is.
34:55That's a bar crusher.
34:56That's Australian engineering, mate.
34:57That's a fisher's worst nightmare.
35:00Which Riggi and Hayden took home with a challenge win a couple of weeks back.
35:04A boat needs a name.
35:05Have you thought about that, guys?
35:07Oh, we knew a name before we even got on the charter.
35:11Let's call her Shelly.
35:12Shelly, yes.
35:14I'll let her know.
35:16I looked at Shelly and I said, Shell, I'm naming this rig Shelly.
35:21And that's her name.
35:22True story.
35:23And as a man of his word, it wasn't long until this happened.
35:28Shelly, the bar crusher, is getting her first tattoo.
35:31Rick's been working with Damo from Grafico to get some decals made up with the word Shelly
35:36written down the side of it.
35:38And there might be a feature piece of Shelly's head.
35:42We wrap a lot of cars, vehicles, boats.
35:45No one's ever asked for Shelly on it.
35:47Yes, never.
35:49Another block first for the boys.
35:51Shelly, my love.
35:53Oh, yes.
35:57Nice work, dudes.
35:58That is awesome.
36:00And now we know that Shelly would have also made a great looking mermaid.
36:03Yes.
36:06Which brings us to today's big surprise reveal.
36:09Shelly, my love.
36:13Yes, so we got to introduce Shelly to Shelly today.
36:15It's pretty exciting.
36:16We've been waiting for this moment for a couple of weeks now.
36:19I don't think Ricky could look any more chuffed than he does right now.
36:22Hi, Shell.
36:23Gents, hello.
36:24I've been told to come and check out the bar crusher.
36:26Apparently you've given her a name.
36:28Correct.
36:29I think Rick might have named the boat before we'd won it.
36:31Right.
36:32And I think he asked if we could call it Shelly.
36:36I did think he was joking at the time.
36:38No, I wasn't joking.
36:39We did name her after her.
36:40And then we thought that, you know,
36:42just like any good boat with a name,
36:44you've got to get a special sticker for her.
36:46Yeah.
36:47So we got that made up.
36:49And this is...
36:51This is her.
36:55What do you reckon, Shell?
36:56Oh, my God.
36:57What do you think?
36:58Your face will bob above the water.
36:59The waterline's here, Shell, so you will be...
37:01I'm crashing.
37:02You will be riding the waves with the bar crusher.
37:04Oh, my goodness, I have never had something so flattering.
37:08It's on both sides, so you won't miss it.
37:11Are you honoured?
37:13Yes.
37:14You're welcome.
37:15Thank you, gentlemen.
37:16You are welcome.
37:18In all my years, eh?
37:20We didn't smash any champagne on the side of her
37:22or anything too fancy.
37:24It was just a nice meet and greet.
37:26And, like, she didn't seem upset.
37:29You know, Shell, she thinks she was surprised.
37:33And she might have even been happy about it.
37:35A little shocked, a little happy.
37:38Thank you very much.
37:39Come on, show me your kitchen.
37:40No, all right, let's go.
37:41I hope it looks better.
37:44Wait till you get to meet the Shelley fridge.
37:46Oh.
37:47No, I'm just kidding.
37:48Shelley oven, Shelley microwave.
37:51SHEEP BLEATS
37:54MUSIC PLAYS
38:00There's plenty to like about the block Phillip Island this season.
38:03There's the impressive size of the block
38:05with impressive-sized houses.
38:07That comes with some very impressive architectural designs.
38:12Nothing is quite as impressive
38:14as Christian and Mimi winning four out of the first five room reveals.
38:18CHEERING
38:20This week, the newlyweds up the front in House 5
38:22have yet another potential winning room
38:25because their kitchen is the only one
38:27that sits in an elevated position upstairs
38:30and has a bird's-eye view of their pool out the back.
38:34Christian and Mimi's view of the pool
38:36will be via a clever glass window splashback installation.
38:39They're also adding a pop of colour
38:41via a green freestanding Smeg Portofino oven,
38:45extra natural light with triple V-Lux skylights
38:49and a heartless pantry features a double integrated fridge
38:52and plenty of extra shelf space.
38:55There's just accessories that we don't need to use.
38:57Hello, hello, House 5.
38:58Hi.
38:59Hello.
39:00How are you doing?
39:01How are you?
39:02Kinsmen strike again.
39:03Don't they just?
39:04Kinsmen strike again.
39:05Isn't it amazing?
39:06What's going in here?
39:07So I think we're the only one with a freestanding oven and cooktop,
39:10so not built in like everyone else's.
39:12Yep, yep, yep.
39:13And we've got the matching range hood.
39:15Right, in the green.
39:16In the green, yes.
39:17I'm just scared the judges will say it looks like Shrek's kitchen.
39:19The green.
39:21It's intense.
39:22It's a bit ogrey.
39:24But it's a holiday house.
39:25Yeah.
39:26It's fun.
39:27It's different.
39:28And this is a window.
39:29Yes.
39:30Going outside.
39:31Yes.
39:32I love that.
39:33Amazing.
39:34Overlooking the pool.
39:35So hang on a minute.
39:36So the splashback looks out to the backyard.
39:37Yeah, to the pool.
39:38Yeah, that's awesome.
39:39Awesome.
39:40And look at the light that's coming in here.
39:41Yes.
39:42It's amazing.
39:43It's amazing.
39:44Our first V-Lux as well.
39:45Our first.
39:47Outdoors and outdoors and outdoors.
39:48I love it.
39:49This week is your week to lose because Kinsmen do such a beautiful job on the fit-outs.
39:54It comes down to your finishes, your styling, and of course, the painting.
39:58And if you don't finish your painting this week, I will blow up Deluxe.
40:02Yep.
40:03Yeah.
40:04And we're allowed to go crook on you about these things because you've won four out of five.
40:07It's not good enough.
40:08That's it.
40:09No, they're not.
40:10They're just normal, but you know.
40:11No, if you're gunning for the title, if you want to beat Ronnie and Georgia, you've got
40:16to deliver the best every single week, only for your own sake, so that you can walk off
40:20the block going, we're the greatest couple that ever came through the show's doors, you
40:24know?
40:25Imagine that.
40:26That'd be nice.
40:27Greatest couple ever.
40:28That's a big title.
40:29Yeah, I really like that.
40:30But you've got to earn it, right?
40:31A hundred percent.
40:32If you get seven wins, you're the greatest couple ever.
40:33Wow.
40:34Wow.
40:35There's a long way to go, but you're on the road to greatness, but there's a target on
40:41your back.
40:42Sure is.
40:43Yes.
40:44Good luck.
40:45See you.
40:46Bye.
40:47Bye.
40:48So, we're currently sitting at four room wins.
40:49If we win this week, we'll be at five, and then two more and we'll be the record winners.
40:54Which is pretty cool.
40:56While Christian and Mimi bask in the glow of their four room wins, down the back in
41:01house four, parents Carly and Brad are basking in the glow of a video call to their four
41:06kids back home.
41:08It's lady boy.
41:10I think it's me.
41:12Yeah, boogers.
41:13Hello, Nanny.
41:15It's like the Blair Witch Project talking to the kids half the time, because you see
41:18like this much of their head.
41:19And normally they're covering the mic, so you just watch them run around, and then all
41:23of a sudden you're looking at a ceiling.
41:25Abo.
41:26Abo, kisses.
41:27Abo.
41:35We're nearly halfway through.
41:39It's all we've got to remember.
41:42Something that would come in handy with the four kids to feed is the chocolate wheel prize
41:46that Carly spun up this morning.
41:48So we got the $2,000 pantry stylist.
41:52So my big question was, does that actually mean someone's going to come in and style
41:56my kitchen?
41:57Which the answer was yes.
41:59Carly.
42:00Hello.
42:01Hi, my name's Katie.
42:02I'm going to be doing your pantry.
42:04Great to meet you.
42:05You too.
42:06I didn't actually know that they existed, but I was extremely happy and thought we probably
42:10ended up with a really great prize.
42:12I need all the styling help I can get.
42:14Yeah.
42:15Amazing.
42:16What sort of feel were you thinking for your pantry?
42:18Organized.
42:19Yes.
42:20Yeah, yeah, yeah.
42:21How do we feel?
42:22Sort of like labels and things.
42:24Do we like labels?
42:26Well, that's for you to decide.
42:28We have four children.
42:29Like, our pantries don't look stylish.
42:32They are filled for a day, and then they're empty.
42:36So I sort of just let her take on her creative vision.
42:42Ah, amazing.
42:43She did some measurements, worked out where we've got cupboards, where we've got drawers,
42:47what we'll need to fill it with.
42:49And then we were off to Aldi.
42:52Thank you very much.
42:53You're welcome.
42:56Basically, we'll grab things that are really sort of bright green.
42:59Avocados are always good.
43:01And some green apples.
43:02Yes.
43:03Some good little packs from Aldi.
43:06Ah!
43:09Anything can happen.
43:11I don't actually normally enjoy shopping, Katie.
43:13This is not a good pastime for me.
43:15Well, this is shopping in fours.
43:18Yeah.
43:19To fill up, you will shop less.
43:20Katie likes to shop in fours, which I thought seemed a lot.
43:24But apparently it's because you've got to fill containers.
43:26Four of each bag.
43:28Yeah, grab the green.
43:29Yeah, four.
43:30Four.
43:31Four of each of these.
43:32Okay.
43:33Yeah, yeah, yeah.
43:34Let's just go four in four.
43:35We're going to need a bigger trolley.
43:36Absolutely.
43:37We've only done two aisles.
43:39So we had three trolleys worth at Aldi.
43:42That was very overwhelming.
43:45I've never shopped like that before in my life.
43:47Thank God I'm not unpackaging it.
43:49Right?
43:50You're coming and actually doing it.
43:51Yeah, see, there we go.
43:52Like, thank God.
43:53Honestly, I had no idea what I was getting into when I won the $2,000 stylist.
43:58And look, she's worth every penny.
44:00Great price.
44:01So yeah, I think I was onto a winner there and I didn't even know it.
44:05Oh my gosh, that is outstanding.
44:11Oh, she likes it too.
44:13See how our all-stars Dan and Danni rate the Blockheads' rooms when they award their weekly champs and chumps.
44:19Who are your champs?
44:21Exclusively at the Block website.
44:23When it comes to life on the block, to say it's a change of pace is a bit of an understatement.
44:29But for Maddie and Charlotte, who have only taken up residency in House 1 just over a week ago,
44:35it's fair to say their block life so far has been one big surprise after another.
44:40It's very cool to do a kitchen on the block, except that we didn't design it.
44:43So it's a bit of an understatement.
44:45It's a bit of an understatement.
44:46It's a bit of an understatement.
44:47It's a bit of an understatement.
44:49It's very cool to do a kitchen on the block, except that we didn't design it.
44:52So that was a bit crazy.
44:54To watch it unfold right in front of your eyes.
44:56To watch it unfold right in front of your eyes.
44:58Yeah, getting surprised.
44:59Like, oh, your floors.
45:00Oh, my cabinets.
45:01The handles.
45:02There's fluted glass.
45:03There's a white sink.
45:04House 1's kitchen is positioned just metres from their front door entry.
45:08Laundry hidden behind, and Danni and living directly in front.
45:12Maddie and Charlotte's inherited kitchen design
45:15comes with a smeg induction cooktop and appliances,
45:18featuring Taj Mahal stone bench top and splashback,
45:21tumbled brass tap and fixings
45:23to complement light coastal cabinetry.
45:27We do love the colour of it.
45:28So you're happy?
45:29Yes. It was, like...
45:31It's not maybe exactly what I would have pitched myself,
45:33but it's, like, beautiful. Yes.
45:35Do you know what bench top you have here?
45:37Yeah, it's the Taj Mahal in matte.
45:39That's really pretty. Beautiful.
45:40It's very pretty.
45:41OK. Apparently. I haven't really...
45:43It is. Oh, I've seen it in the en-suite.
45:45In the en-suite. It's very soft, it's lovely tonal.
45:48Yeah. It's sort of taupy.
45:49And where does that come from? That, er...
45:50That's Cosentino. Cosentino. Yes.
45:52Isn't it lovely seeing Shelley's smiling face?
45:54Oh, it's always lovely seeing Shelley's smiling face.
45:57I think that... I'm Scottish, too.
45:59Oh, of course. Obviously.
46:00Yeah. A surrogate dad.
46:01Pfft!
46:04Pfft!
46:05Well, how are you actually feeling as far as your budget?
46:07We've got some catching up to do,
46:08but I'm hoping with, um, no builders this week
46:11and nothing really to do in this room...
46:13That is a problem, isn't it? We'll have nothing to spend on.
46:15We don't have builders.
46:16Well, is there no builders full stop? No.
46:18Our builder walked out yesterday morning.
46:20OK.
46:21Well, look, again, I say if you're not getting along
46:23and the communication's not working,
46:25you're better off cutting your losses.
46:26Exactly. I think it's a silver lining.
46:28It's a relief. It is a relief, but, you know,
46:30obviously there's lots of planning to do for the rest of the house,
46:32which is, like, on the forefront of our minds.
46:34So we're trying to do this, but trying to plan things
46:36because, you know, everyone else has had five weeks
46:38to make these big decisions about moving your laundry
46:40and things like that.
46:41So that's, like, in the back of our mind,
46:43like, OK, we've got to make these decisions right now
46:45so that we don't fall into an issue in weeks to come.
46:47But we're getting there.
46:49Mm, yeah. Alrighty.
46:50Now, you are part of the Block family now, right?
46:53Yeah.
46:54And you know that Chelle and I, we want you to succeed.
46:57You know, we want you to go well at auction.
46:59Yeah. We want to help you.
47:01Yeah. Well, do you have any...
47:02What's your biggest tip, then, for styling?
47:04Oh, please. Speak, Chelle.
47:06What's your biggest tip for styling?
47:08I would say don't set it too much cos it's not a TV set,
47:11it's a home. Yeah.
47:12Oh, that's a good one. Yeah.
47:14Make it feel like home.
47:15Yeah. OK.
47:16We'll try and do that.
47:17I don't know what that will look like yet,
47:19but get back to me on that.
47:21On Sunday morning.
47:24We got 24 hours in a day
47:28to make it what we thought about every single day.
47:32Boys, did you have any idea how you want to protect that?
47:34I was going to use the same flooring protection.
47:36Yeah. Is that all right?
47:37Yeah, I reckon we'll just cut it out.
47:38You want me to do that now, yeah?
47:39Yeah.
47:40Legend, brother. Yeah.
47:41This is nice out here.
47:42This is lovely, yeah.
47:43It's not really a butler's.
47:44Oh, hello, boys.
47:45Oh, and it's open all through here.
47:46G'day, fellas.
47:47Scotty, Chelle.
47:48I have to say, damn you both for not finishing your master.
47:52It is beautiful.
47:53No, no.
47:54Yeah.
47:55First thing Chelle said was,
47:56what a shame you guys didn't finish your main.
47:58Another unfinished room.
48:03BUZZER
48:04And we know how close we were
48:07to potentially delivering a winning one.
48:09This week, Ricky and Hayden are sticking
48:11to their modern, minimalist vibe,
48:13going with coastal oak cabinetry with fluted glass,
48:16featuring a giant island bench
48:18with painted porter timber panelling up front,
48:20and placing their Neff cooktop and sink behind on the rear bench.
48:24And they've added an extra area for clean-up
48:27with a mini butler's kitchen out the back.
48:30This looks amazing.
48:31Yeah, I love it.
48:32I love this curved island.
48:33Yeah, I do.
48:34It feels very inviting, doesn't it?
48:35You've got lots of space either side.
48:37That's lovely.
48:38Plenty of room for the breakfast bar.
48:39Yeah.
48:40Bench seats galore.
48:41Holiday resort's about entertainment,
48:42so that's why we didn't want a sink on our island bench.
48:45If you wanted to,
48:46you could easily set up your beer pong either end.
48:50There's no taps in the way.
48:51There's no crap.
48:52There's no bars.
48:53There's nothing.
48:54It's just a straight beer pong run.
48:55Perfect holiday resort house.
48:58I've never played beer pong.
48:59It's a good time.
49:00I've never played it.
49:01What happens?
49:02You've got to protect your cup at all costs,
49:04unless you want to get hammered.
49:06One time, I was protecting my cup,
49:07hit the ball over the fence, went down the fence,
49:09pulled my calf.
49:10Second grade calf strain.
49:12It cost me, like, four or five weeks on the sidelines.
49:14It's a serious sport.
49:15Brutal.
49:16So, yeah, pulled my calf playing beer pong.
49:18Hectic.
49:19Feels good in here, though.
49:20Yep.
49:21Yeah, we're feeling like this is our week, Shell.
49:23Right.
49:24So, yep.
49:25If we win kitchen week,
49:27that means we've won the challenge.
49:31Saved five, six grand in subfloor.
49:34This is the true core subfloor.
49:38And we won our first room on the block.
49:40Potentially another ten grand cash.
49:42And we made friends with Cole and Cara.
49:48We win this week.
49:51Yeah, I think it's game on.
49:53I couldn't have said it better myself,
49:55because with less than 48 hours to go
49:57until kitchen reveal this week,
49:59it is indeed game on.
50:02I feel like there's an element of prestige
50:04related to winning a kitchen week on the block.
50:06It's a big deal if you win kitchen week.
50:08You pick the most important room of the house
50:10over anything indoors, outdoors, it's kitchen.
50:12Especially being a holiday house
50:14and it being, like, an open living concept.
50:16Yeah, everyone, like, is going to hang around there.
50:18That's going to be, like, everyone says,
50:20the heart of the home.
50:21The kitchen really does feel like the heart of the home.
50:23It sets your kitchen apart from the other houses.
50:25The fact that it's moody, it's a bit bougie.
50:29Our layout works, our flow works, our storage.
50:32Everything's functional.
50:33The splashback is glass.
50:35So, as you cook,
50:37you can look out onto the pool and backyard.
50:39Kitchen week's massive.
50:40It's clear that everyone's here to win.
50:42Have we done enough to win?
50:43I think we've done enough for the win.
50:45We have to win this.
50:46It's a week we want to win.
50:48The standard's so high in the comp.
50:50And there is a penguin floating around.
50:54Like, play the bloody penguin.
50:55Seriously, you've got it.
50:57They're not silly.
50:58They're saving it for a reason.
50:59And you get one penguin in the competition.
51:02Are you going to play the penguin?
51:04I will eventually play the penguin.
51:08I just don't know if it'll be kitchen week
51:10that I'm playing the penguin.
51:12Sunday night on the block,
51:13everyone has got to finish the heart of their homes.
51:16I've been painting the sink for, like, two days, mate.
51:18Seriously.
51:19I've never felt so stressed in my life.
51:21And the results are amazing.
51:25Whoa!
51:26Like, holy sh...
51:28How's that for a feature?
51:30This is unreal.
51:31This is perfection.
51:33I've never seen anything like this.
51:35Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum.
51:38Kylie and Brad's penguin is in play yet again.
51:41Don't play the penguin.
51:42I'm playing it.
51:43You're not.
51:44If we get in the spot, we're playing it.
51:45No.
51:46Is anyone loving him tonight?
51:52And I have a potential block-winning surprise announcement.
51:55Oh.
