Silent crime: Do you feel safe in Sheffield city centre?
Transcript
00:00I'm quite worried. I mean, coming to town is nice these days.
00:04Yeah, you need to be with somebody when you come out a lot of times.
00:08If you're on your own, you just don't know what's happening these days.
00:12Have you experienced anything yourself?
00:15I just wanted to know.
00:20All the buggies all over town.
00:24Non-whites, very rare to come.
00:28But I know people who do stay away.
00:31And I know, especially if they've got families,
00:35you know, they've got young children and they don't want to see,
00:39you know, you've got the druggies and you've got the alcohols
00:42and they're coming up and they're begging,
00:44and you know, you see them where they really get aggressive
00:47and they'll fight with one another.
00:49I know a lot of people who do go to Meadowhall because of that.
00:54Especially when they've got families, they won't come to Sheffield.
00:57They'll go to Meadowhall.
00:59And what can be done about it?
01:03Well, it's all right saying extra policing, but then again,
01:08you know, it's stretched already, aren't they?
