Shohei Ohtani had become the first 50/50 (now 51/51) in MLB history with a game for the ages in a Dodgers 20-4 win over the Miami Marlins he went 6 for 6 with 3 home runs and 10 RBI and 2SB. 51 home runs and 51 steals. Leroy gives his respects to an "oh no!" Tobin compares classic Marlin's performances to this historic moment.

00:00It's insulting to put a position player pitching against Shohei Ohtani. I mean, that's just
00:04ridiculous. I mean, you can't do that to him. I mean, can we just do this meatball? Can
00:14we do this? Wow. Can we just give us that line from just last night?
00:21Go ahead. People are saying it could be the greatest game of all time. Six for six, three
00:27home runs, 10 RBIs. Got lucky. Got lucky. And by the way, he also forgot two stolen
00:39bases. Two stolen bases. Now, I'm going to say this. When I saw the stat line, I was
00:51trying to figure out what other player that I have watched play baseball could do that.
01:03I'm still thinking, I'm still thinking I've seen guys hit four home runs in a game.
01:11It's an interesting, yeah. I've seen guys hit four home runs in a game. It's, I don't
01:16know, maybe bonds, but like, I almost feel like this is, this was such an interesting
01:22because it was such a blowout and you were against a bad team and skip Schumacher had
01:27the honor because people were asking him after the game, they're like, would you, where you
01:31can sit? Cause Ed, when he hit the 50th, they had first base open. He goes that that's just
01:36bad karma. We cannot be walking Shohei Ohtani. That's bad for the game. And he said bad night
01:42for the Marlins. Good night for baseball, which is, you know, props to skip. I mean,
01:47he wasn't a coward to go out there cause there'd be some people who didn't, who wouldn't want
01:51to be part of history.
01:52You know what, as soon as they walked, if they were to walk Shohei Ohtani, everybody
01:58would have got up out of their seat and left or thrown garbage on the field or thrown garbage
02:02on the field. Yeah. You would have had your own home field littered with Dodgers. Not
02:08even, I think some of the Marlins fans would have did it, but I don't know, man. Like it's
02:12crazy. Oh yeah. I'm sure. But like, it's crazy to have a, a week in a series. All right.
02:20You're coming to this game. History could be made, but how do you have a night like
02:24that? And it exceeds, it exceeds what he was going to do. Right. Right. What, what is that?
02:34What kind of monster talent is this guy? He is a freak. He's a freak. He is a freak. Not
02:42to mention he's not pitching yet. Hey Marco, you got me, you got me like and loaded for
02:54the day. Yeah. We got a, we got a Leroy request. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well it is, it is, if I
03:05can say this, what Frankie Beverly is to black people is what, if you think of the party
03:18or the picnic doesn't start until this artist is played. So for Latinos is sell your cruise.
03:26They, everybody go crazy when they play, sell your cruise at the barbecue. Yeah. I think
03:30that's a great comparison. I don't know about intangibles. Y'all got, y'all got, you know,
03:35yeah, I don't know.
03:37Con I'd go.
03:41But I'm just saying, uh, if you go to a barbecue that is predominantly black folks, my house don't
03:51count. These people don't know who Frankie Beverly is. Right. What do you mean these people? My,
03:59my family, my in-laws and Frankie Beverly isn't played, then you ain't, you, you, you ain't at
04:10the right place. So, um, yeah, that was sad. Cause he is, all of his music is, is fun and
04:20about bringing joy and peace and, and all that. So it's sad to see him go, but it just,
04:27all I had to do was go to my low, you know, my low, my iPhone and, and hit Frankie Beverly.
04:34And then I could hear all his best hits. Louie says the Marlins should retire Otani's Jersey
04:40after last night. That was stupid. Incredible. So you wanted to pull a Pat Riley and retire
04:44Michael Jordan's Jersey? Like just, Oh, Tony was here. We saw history. It, it was amazing.
04:53Um, for the people that were there for the rest of your life, you have that moment where, and this
05:02is what's great about sports. You know, you go to, you go to watch sports and sometimes your team's
05:08not good, but something may happen in any sport. Something may happen. And you go, wow. I was there
05:17Wow. I was there to witness it live. Like I didn't know that I was going to be at the game
05:23where the ball bounced off Jose Canseco's head. Right. I didn't know that I was going to be at
05:29a game where Carlos Baer get hit a home run from both sides of the plate in the same inning.
05:35Right. Just incredible things that stick in your mind and make you appreciate, uh, sports.
05:43Yeah. I'm trying to think of like record breakers. Have I ever been to a record breaker or just
05:47interesting games? Like, Oh, I've been to interesting games. I've been to games with
05:51big stakes. The last reg, the one, the best performance I think I've seen, uh, recently
05:57was Jimmy. I saw Jimmy, I was building for Jimmy's 56. That was, I thought the first quarter that
06:02he played where he scored, what'd he score? 28 in the first quarter. I thought that was the
06:06best basketball. And I thought he was going to be tapped out. That's why I was like, Oh,
06:11that's the best basketball I've ever seen him play. That's the best basketball. I think I've
06:15seen, I've seen anybody ever play in person. And then he went out and had more like how that was,
06:22whoo. Right. But that's like, that's what makes sports great. Right. You watch sports for that.
06:29That I get the fans want to root for their team or whatever. But if you're a fan of sports,
06:35fan of sports, you go and you pay your money for a game or, or whatever it is. And you want
06:42to see something great. You want to say something you can talk about for the rest of your life.
06:48Saddest history game I've ever been to was the dolphins Ravens, of course, avoiding the Owen 16
06:55and Greg Camarino. Greg Camarino scores the walk-off touchdown. What do you mean saddest
06:59though? I mean, just sad is because we were so happy to not, to not be in position of, of infamy,
07:07but what about, what about crying in the stands? What about what was the,
07:14the bears game when they were undefeated? Was the bears game down here?
07:19Oh, I don't know what you're talking about. What was that? Like 80 something,
07:21maybe three 84 when the 85, 85 bears. Yeah. I wasn't there for that. I wasn't born yet.
07:28Yeah. I was a negative eight. Crazy. Let's get to a, some headlines brought to you by
07:37Doral Volkswagen shoes from over 300 new Volkswagen miles in stock with the T1,
07:42the tails and Atlas. Remember when it comes to Volkswagen, the great deals are at Doral
07:47Volkswagen show. Hey Otani, we got the call last night on Dodger's radio of him
07:53getting into his own club as him opening his own club called 50, 50 on a one, two,
08:00Oh, Tani the other way. One of a kind player, one of a kind season. So hey,
08:15Tani starts the 50, 50 club.
08:21Wow. That might be the hardest club to get into. It doesn't exist until last night. I mean,
08:28because think about this. We're talking about how great Aaron judges as a home run hitter
08:36at 50 stolen bases to that. Yeah. Right. It's unheard of. It's also like, you know,
08:43it would have been so, I think what makes him incredible is like, it would have been so easy
08:47to be like, yeah, you know, you were, I'm doing half my job as my was the second Tommy John
08:52surgery that he's had. Yeah. You know, but Hey, how about I do this? Watch this. It's I mean like
08:59that's, that's, what's incredible about it. He's worth every penny of that. What? 700 million.
09:04Yep. Which he's deferred for years. Right. That's baseball contracts though.
09:10It's not like 50 strikeouts, like him striking out that many batters. Yeah. Is that impressive
09:17or is that not for a starter? I think the number for, for, I think the number that makes you elite
09:24is what? 300 strikeouts. No, I think like 200, 200. So there's only been a handful of guys who've
09:32had 300 strikeouts in a year. Cause I was trying to think, all right, what's next. We did the 50,
09:3750. What can we add pitching wise? That would make it just as crazy. But with a third
09:45stat this time, would it have to be 50, 50 and 150?
09:52His career high in strikeouts was in 2022, 219 strikeouts.
09:57Right. So it's like, listen, right. Anything that he does on the mound right now is gravy.
10:10Yep. You already got the meat. You already got the potatoes, right? If he goes out there and wins
10:1715 games and strikes out another 200, you are looking at probably one of the greatest
10:24athletes to play the sport. Well, that's why I'm saying like last night, the Marlins put a
10:29Vidal Brujan and an infielder out there. Cause you know, they're getting worked and let's,
10:35we're out of pictures. Hey, show. Hey, this guy's going to try and pitch
10:42and you just see 69 mile an hour meatball. It's like you're getting it 51 home runs now.
10:54Didn't he, uh, the world baseball classic, it came down to him and Mike trout. If I'm not
11:01mistaken, that was also down here. Yes, it was. He said, I think last night through a translator,
11:04this is becoming one of his favorite stadiums. I can tell. I can definitely really. Cause it's
11:10not the favorite for anybody. Cause it's a pit runs here. Maybe when he takes the interest off
11:16of that, uh, that contract deferred, maybe he can buy the Marlins cause he already owns them. Maybe
11:22he could actually buy them after his career. Great. Love that. Cause it seems like he likes,
11:28uh, you know, he likes to do some squirrely things with his money. This is the perfect city
11:32for him. For sure. Perfect city for, for Otani, you know, um, crazy. What, what are you guys?
11:41Skip Schumacher after last night's game here with skip you. I think that's a bad move. Baseball wise,
11:47karma wise, baseball, God wise, you, you go after him and see if you can get him out.
11:53Um, and I think, um, out of respect for the game, we're, we're going to go after him.
11:58He hit the home run. I mean, you know, that's just part of the deal. He's hit 50 of them.
12:02Um, he's the most talented player I've ever seen. Um, he is doing things that I've never seen done
12:09before, before in the game. Um, and if he has a couple more of these peak years, he might be the
12:15best ever to play the game. Um, so I just, um, yeah, as a fan, yeah, I wish I was in the stands,
12:22not in the dugout seeing it. Um, but it's, um, I'm, I'm proud of like the guys that were attacking
12:28him and not scared of him. And, um, that's, that's how you should go after it. And then,
12:33you know, he hit, he hit the home run. I mean, I know Bauman didn't want the home run to be hit,
12:38but he hit it. And, um, and so, yeah, it's, it was, uh, uh, a good day for baseball,
12:44bad day for the Marlins, you know, but, um, but a good day for that, for, uh, you know,
12:47the game of baseball, you know, what, he seems very classy and they just like, no,
12:57yeah, they skunked them. No, I'm talking about just the organization.
13:01Oh yeah. That's what I mean. I'm like, yeah, they, they, they really great job by them.
13:08They don't, they're, they're the only ones left. Right. Every organization in South Florida
13:17has kind of, if you had to stink on you have kind of just put your organization in a place where
13:24fans can feel confident, you're going to do the right things to win. Might not win. Right. But
13:31I would say what Steven Ross has done with the Panthers have done what the pinks have done.
13:40Right. And you know, the heater, the heat, they by far have the worst owner in town.
13:44Like that's, that's what it is. But is it, is it a money thing though? Yeah. He's broke.
13:52I thought he was cheap. I didn't know he was broke. He's not very rich,
13:56not compared to these other guys. That's why I'm asking Otani to buy us. He had deadbeat
14:00Jeets running the, running his purse strings for a while. Uh, I wasn't the game. Don't try
14:06Willis Homer twice. I was, I was, Hey, Hey, Hey, wait. And Marcos. Yes, sir. I've met
14:217 million people that have gone to the orange bowl. No, I really wasn't that game. I was,
14:28I was in New York with my dad. What is that? Shea?
14:42Even even stay hydrated. Champagne buying it.
14:50I'm pretty sure this happened. I think I went to a game where Derek Lee hit an
14:53inside the park home run and a regular home run. Okay, dude, we're talking about like life
15:00changing game. Here's the thing. You have to understand if you did that, if you did that here,
15:07down here, it's some of the, they've had some of the biggest stadiums ever to play baseball.
15:13I know, but it was still cool. Anyway. What about, uh, any, uh, no, this is, I don't know. This is,
15:21they're already Miami Marlins. I wouldn't say any Jose Fernandez moments because he had some
15:25moments. I was at Jose Fernandez is a comeback game from Tommy John. I was in the booth with
15:30rich Walsh and Tommy hut. We were visiting rich Waltz and, uh, and we saw Jose hit the home run.
15:36What about D D Gordon honoring Jose? No, I wasn't at that time. That was classic moment there.
15:42We got Derek Lee's two home runs at one time. No one was, but you don't understand one was inside
15:47the park and the realm of things that are worth mentioning. That's probably pretty low on your
15:59list. Mike Mordecai walk off home run against the Dodgers and the wildcard chase. And you like,
16:05see how he added cheese to the, to the wildcard chase. I was at every walk off home run that year.
16:14Who remembers 50 and 50 from showing old Tommy and I'll don't forget some guy named Mordecai
16:20hit a home run. Here's what's interesting. Here's what's interesting. How many people
16:25were at the game? The attendance. Let me see. Uh, because, because you are the Mike Mordecai game
16:33no, no. Oh, okay. Uh, 15,548 is announced 15,000 to see one of the greatest, uh,
16:47things that ever happened in the sport. Right. And I guarantee you in our next five years,
16:54we will meet 37,000 people who said they were there.
16:59Yeah. How many of you met? We're at the Mike Mordecai.
17:05You know, every time I hear it, every time I hear that name, you know what I think of,
17:09you remember the movie, uh, uh, first Sunday, what was the ice cube and, uh,
17:16Cass Stevens and they go into the, uh, they go into the massage parlor and, uh, he's like,
17:23what's your name? Mordecai.
