00:00One of the biggest names in sports entertainment today
00:05is Mercedes Monet.
00:07Previously known as Shasha Banks,
00:10she's now taken over the women's division in AEW
00:14and is dominating, just like she dominated the WWE,
00:18and she's got it all.
00:19She's got personality, she's got talent, she's got flair,
00:22and of course, she's getting into acting.
00:24She's been into Mandalorian,
00:26and she's gonna be the first woman
00:29who joins me on Frank Walks.
00:33Let's go along.
00:34♪♪
00:43Hey, how's it going?
00:44Good, how are you doing?
00:45I'm Frankie Tank, and this is my show, Frank Walks.
00:48You know, I walk around different areas anywhere,
00:51anywhere in the world, with a bunch of celebrities,
00:53and right now, there is no one bigger
00:56in the wrestling world than Mercedes Monet.
00:59You know, you're dominating.
01:00Look at this, you got two belts.
01:01Two belts.
01:02Two belts.
01:03You got a nice belt yourself, Frankie Tank.
01:04This is from when Jenks knocked out the Able Brothers.
01:08Oh, I like that, but we're gonna be walking the streets
01:10like champions, right?
01:11Yes, we are.
01:12I love that.
01:13What are you gonna show me around?
01:13I'm from Boston. This is the way.
01:14All right.
01:15I'm gonna walk on the side
01:16because of these little guardrail grates,
01:18and I have my high heels on.
01:20You gotta watch out for those.
01:22Yes.
01:23But now, you've been in AEW a little over a year now.
01:28Only six months.
01:29Only six months.
01:29It feels like a year.
01:30I know, I know.
01:31It goes by fast.
01:32Only six months, and you've already, like,
01:33taken over the world.
01:34Absolutely.
01:34Just like you took over the WWE.
01:36Yep.
01:37And what's amazing is I look you up,
01:39and you're 33.
01:41You're still young.
01:42Okay, wait, wait.
01:43Don't age me too soon.
01:44I'm only 32, Frank the Tank, okay?
01:46I'm only 32.
01:47I know I've made a lot of history,
01:49but I'm still very young.
01:50I'm a young history maker.
01:51Yes, that's what I'm talking about.
01:52You're still young.
01:53It's like you've reached this level at such a young age.
01:57Crazy.
01:58And I think, and I look back to these wrestlers,
02:00when I was growing up, I didn't realize
02:02these guys were like old men at the time.
02:03I know.
02:04Changing the game.
02:05Well, it all started when I was 10 years old.
02:07My dream of being a professional wrestling,
02:09or a professional wrestler,
02:10it was just right then and there.
02:12Turned 18, joined a wrestling school
02:14in North Andover, Massachusetts.
02:16Two years later, I got signed by the WWE,
02:18and ever since then, I've just been making headways
02:21and creating all these legacy moments
02:23for women's wrestling all over the world.
02:25It's really, really cool.
02:26You've held numerous title belts.
02:28Lots of title belts.
02:29I mean, everywhere you go, you're the big star.
02:32You beat Charlotte Flair.
02:34Yes.
02:35You beat all these other, Bailey.
02:37You beat all these wrestlers.
02:38All of them.
02:39You beat all the challengers.
02:40Mm-hmm.
02:41Now, what's that like?
02:42What's the pop like when you come out there?
02:44Ooh, in New York?
02:45Anywhere.
02:46I mean, anywhere, especially at home in Boston.
02:48That's the biggest pop.
02:49That's the greatest pop for me.
02:51But doing this for over 14 years,
02:53I've got to wrestle in front of so many fans
02:56from all over the world, all different countries,
02:58all different cities, all different towns.
03:00So I just feel like wrestling fans
03:02are the coolest fans in the world.
03:03No matter where we are, they're always loud and rowdy,
03:06and especially here in New York.
03:07That's pretty the rowdiest crowd, I have to feel like.
03:11Now, when you're a wrestler, you have different roles.
03:13Sometimes you might play kind of like the face or the heel.
03:17What's more fun?
03:18What do you get a bigger kick out of,
03:19the heat or the fans adoring?
03:22A little bit of both.
03:23I do love it when I have little girls come up to me
03:27and emulate me, wear my wigs, my glasses, my outfits.
03:31But it's so much more funner to be a bad guy
03:34and making fans hate you and boo you and cheer against you.
03:37It's really fun.
03:38I always like how the mic skills of the heels,
03:41the way they're able to antagonize.
03:43Exactly.
03:45You walk in and you make fun of the city.
03:47It's gotta be the biggest kick.
03:49It's so much fun,
03:50because you really get to tell the fans the truth.
03:52If they stink, they really do stink.
03:54I can tell them they stink up the city.
03:56I'm the CEO.
03:56I gotta be treated like the star that I am.
03:59And a lot of fans don't appreciate that.
04:01So when I get to be a heel,
04:02I let them know that I'm the boss around here.
04:04That's always great.
04:06I mean, not just wrestling though.
04:09You're starting to conquer the acting world.
04:11I am.
04:12The Mandalorian.
04:13The Mandalorian.
04:15Crazy.
04:16It's my first ever thing in the entertainment world
04:20and movies and television.
04:22I'm part of Star Wars, the Mandalorian.
04:24I mean, you know the Star Wars universe.
04:25That's got it.
04:26Their fan base is numerous.
04:28Would you say bigger than the wrestling fan base?
04:30I'm part of the two biggest universes in the world
04:33when it comes to fan bases, fandom fan bases.
04:37And obviously you got the wrestling action figure.
04:39Now you got your own Star Wars.
04:42That's why I'm stepping to the side.
04:44I'll definitely fall into the sewer.
04:46Yeah, it's crazy.
04:46It's one thing to have a wrestling action figure,
04:49which was my biggest dream when I was a kid.
04:51But to have a Star Wars action figure,
04:55not just one, not just two, over seven.
04:58It's really, really cool.
05:01And now this week we're in Altaraz Stadium.
05:05Yes.
05:06It's New York City.
05:06Yeah.
05:08What's it like for AEW to come to New York?
05:11We love New York.
05:12New York has the greatest fans of all time.
05:15They're loud, they're rowdy.
05:16They're always ready to get down and cheer for us.
05:19Anytime we're in New York, it's the best time.
05:20I always feel like this is like my second home to me.
05:23I've had so many history-making matches
05:25and moments here in New York,
05:27and I feel like tomorrow, Wednesday,
05:29Dynamite, Grand Slam,
05:32it's just gonna be another amazing night.
05:34Now, of course, New York, he's got the,
05:37the Knicks are the heart of New York, I personally think.
05:39Okay.
05:39And I think we're gonna see a magical year for the Knicks.
05:43I mean, they're gonna take down the Celtics.
05:45Ah, you know, you're the second guy who told me this,
05:47but who won last year, huh?
05:49Who were the champs last year?
05:51That's right, Boston, baby, the Celtics.
05:53Yeah, that's because-
05:54And we're coming back again.
05:55That's because the Knicks all broke down.
05:56We're the city of champions for a reason.
05:57I got two on my shoulder.
05:59I gotta bring you to Boston so we can collect another one.
06:03But you know, it's fun.
06:04The wrestling world is fun,
06:06and you, what people don't appreciate is,
06:08some people say it might be fake, it might be staged,
06:10but you guys flip in the ring.
06:12You have to do all these moves.
06:13Those are the moves, the physicality,
06:15but you don't have any days off.
06:17There's no load management in the wrestling.
06:20No, there's no days off.
06:22Barely have time to recover, let alone grab a coffee.
06:26We're always on the go, go, go,
06:28wrestling and traveling five days out of the week.
06:30I mean-
06:31On the road 360 days out of the year.
06:33It's the most grueling and craziest sport of entertainment
06:36in the world,
06:37and I wouldn't have it any other way
06:38because it's the best.
06:39I mean, every other sport has an off season.
06:40I know.
06:41There's no off season in wrestling.
06:42No off season.
06:43It's like you said, only if we get hurt,
06:45and I pray we never get hurt,
06:47that's the only time we get to have
06:48a little bit of time off.
06:50But it's great, and who are your favorite wrestlers
06:54going up?
06:55My favorite wrestler of all time was Eddie Guerrero.
06:58I remember watching him
06:59and I instantly fell in love with wrestling.
07:02I love Dean Malenko, Rey Mysterio, Kurt Angle,
07:05Aja Kong, Manami Toyota from All Star,
07:08All Japan Women's Wrestling.
07:10There's so many wrestling that I loved growing up watching.
07:13Now I noticed one of your belts says New Japan Wrestling.
07:16Yeah, this one.
07:18Now, what's it like to wrestle in Japan?
07:21I hear they even make Americans
07:24the way they take wrestling so seriously
07:26and how great and fired up they get.
07:28It's a legit sport over there.
07:30Like the girls and the guys train multiple times a day.
07:34It's a sport, it's a sport.
07:35It's not a thing where it's predetermined.
07:37They treat it like it's a real sport,
07:38like baseball, football, basketball.
07:41They have such a passion for it out there,
07:43and it's so respected.
07:45So anytime I'm out there in Japan,
07:46I really feel like I'm a wrestler-wrestler
07:49because I have to give it my all
07:50because they go so much more harder
07:52than American fans do,
07:53or American wrestlers do, I should say.
07:55Now, I would be remiss without mentioning
07:58our other wrestling podcast.
08:00It's on Bar Suit Wrestling.
08:03Wrestling, all right.
08:04Have you ever heard of wrestling?
08:07Do you do a lot of the old school guys
08:09with Brandon Walker?
08:10Maybe, I think I've,
08:11did I do his podcast before, maybe?
08:13I don't know, I've done so many podcasts
08:15in the world of wrestling.
08:16I know what that's like.
08:17I've met so many people.
08:18I know a lot of people.
08:19I'm the CEO for a reason.
08:20So I'm sure I've done his podcast before.
08:23But it's great, and who's gonna be your next big challenge?
08:28Exactly, Frank.
08:29That's what I was trying to find out right now.
08:31I have so many targets on my back,
08:33my front, my side, because I'm a double champion.
08:36So now all these girls from all over the world,
08:38all over the globe are coming after me.
08:40So I gotta be prepared, I gotta stay ready.
08:42I don't know who's next,
08:44but I'm ready whenever they're ready.
08:48I mean, do you have a match scheduled for this week,
08:52or is that gonna be-
08:53A grand slam?
08:54I don't have a match scheduled for this week.
08:55I just, I feel like hanging out with my EVPs,
08:59Nicholas and Matt Jackson,
09:00and the chairman, Tony Khan, of course.
09:02We're gonna be sitting together,
09:03thinking and plotting of teaming plans,
09:06and just getting ready for our five-year anniversary
09:08next week.
09:09So crazy that AEW has been around for five years,
09:13and they've really just changed the game
09:15in professional wrestling.
09:16It's been the most exciting time to be a wrestling fan
09:20and be a professional wrestler in the sport right now.
09:22I think the second promotion is necessary.
09:24You have to have-
09:26Well, not just second.
09:27We need three, four, five, six, seven.
09:29There needs to be more.
09:30The more, the merrier.
09:32Competition's important.
09:33It is.
09:34It's very important.
09:35And AEW has really taken over.
09:38There's no competition with us.
09:40Frank, you gotta tell Mercedes about Friday,
09:42the milestone, what did you know?
09:44Oh, yes, it's right.
09:45Let me know about it.
09:46And this Friday, I'll be-
09:47Love Frank Davis.
09:48Hey.
09:50This Friday, we'll be marking one year of walking
09:54consecutively, every day.
09:55Oh, wow.
09:57How many miles do you walk a day, you think?
09:59Typically five, at least five.
10:00That's a good amount.
10:02I go with my step count on my fitness tracker,
10:07and 10,000 is my minimum and 15,000 is my goal.
10:11That's what I try to do, too.
10:12Like, at least 10,000 steps a day.
10:14I do a lot of walking, a lot of wrestling,
10:16so I definitely try to hit that.
10:17And try to do a gallon of water a day.
10:19Do you do that?
10:20Not quite, but with the body armors.
10:23Oh.
10:24I-
10:25Get your electrolytes.
10:26I drink about maybe two or three of these
10:28body armors a day, at least.
10:30That's good.
10:31Keeping it hydrated.
10:33Yeah, you gotta keep hydrated.
10:34Always.
10:35Well, I gotta say, this is an honor.
10:39Me too.
10:40I mean, you are probably one of the greatest wrestlers
10:42of all time, and you got even more to achieve.
10:48You're gonna be on your Mount Rushmore of wrestlers,
10:52especially this era.
10:54It's a honor to have you walk with me.
10:57Thank you, champ.
10:58Appreciate you.
11:01All right.
11:02Now, before we end this,
11:04is there anything that you'd like to promote?
11:06Yes.
11:06Every week, every Thursday,
11:08I put out a weekly digital magazine called Money Mag,
11:11and you can follow that on X and Instagram.
11:14Subscribe to the link where I let everybody know
11:17more with the CEO.
11:19Oh, thanks.
11:20Thank you, Frank.
