00:09I know that sounds challenging, but let's learn it together.
00:13Here we can see that we have some dodgeballs.
00:16Count how many dodgeballs we have.
00:20We have 1, 2, 3, 4 dodgeballs.
00:24Now here comes another group or set of dodgeballs.
00:28There are a lot more dodgeballs.
00:30There are 40 dodgeballs or 10 times the group of 4 dodgeballs.
00:36Can you visually compare the two groups?
00:40Obviously the group of 40 is quite a bit more and it's easy to see that.
00:45Now let's look at another group of dodgeballs.
00:48We will have to back up even more to see this group.
00:53There are 400 dodgeballs in this group.
00:56That is a lot.
00:58Can you see the difference between the groups of dodgeballs?
01:01Over here on the left we have 4, which is one digit.
01:05Then we have 40 in the next group.
01:0740 is composed of two digits.
01:11The last group has 400 dodgeballs.

01:18Now this is easy to see the difference, but what if we had to estimate an amount of something

01:26Here is a group of blocks and we need to estimate how many we have.
01:30We are given some options to choose from.
01:33Are there 3 blocks, 30 blocks or 300 blocks?

01:44If you said 30 you are correct.
01:47We know that just 3 blocks would be easy to see and count.
01:50We also know that 300 would be a lot more than what we see.
01:54So we estimate we have 30 blocks.

01:58Let's look at another group of objects and this one might be a little bit harder.
02:04Here is a jar of candy.
02:06Wait, this is some strange looking candy.
02:09Looks just like me.
02:11Oh well.
02:12Can you estimate the amount for me?
02:14Do you think there are 4 pieces, 40 pieces or 400 pieces of candy?
02:24Can you tell me why you chose that number?
02:29There are 400 pieces of candy in this jar.
02:33We can see just by looking at the candy that there is definitely more than 4.
02:37We can also see that there is more than 40 as that would just make up a small portion
02:41of the total amount of candies.
02:44So there is 400.
02:46You estimated correctly.
