Reviewing Everton’s poor start to Premier League campaign as pressure mounts on Sean Dyche

Everton have had their worst start to a season in 66 years this time around. With ownership queries, a huge lack of financial balance and the team massively disappointing on the pitch, where’s the turning point for the Toffees and just how much longer can this go on?

00:00Not a win so far for Everton in the Premier League. How close are they to panic stations
00:16in the early signs? The fans aren't seeming too happy across social media, but from the
00:21games you've seen and the situations you've seen, is it really close to panicking so far?
00:28How do you assess the start to the season? It's not been too kind on the eye if you look
00:33at the league table and the form charts. Certainly from the impressions from the club, they're
00:39not really panicking yet. I think Sean's looked at the job he's done in the past 18, 19 months
00:48and he has got credit in the bank, but we can't deny that Everton have missed opportunities
00:54this season. The ball in the game was almost unthinkable really, watching it play out and
01:01obviously Aston Villa as well. I think it was a funny one with Aston Villa, if they'd have gone
01:04there and maybe went 2-0 down, made it back to 2-1, then Villa go 3-1 and 3-2. There might
01:11not have been as much hysteria, but when you go two goals up, Sean Dyche's teams are known for
01:17seeing games out, aren't they? There have been some worrying trends about being one and obviously
01:24at Leicester, again, they went 1-0 up and the habit of conceding from set pieces, which you
01:31haven't expected from Everton whatsoever this season. I think there are some mitigating factors,
01:38obviously Gerard Bramfoet's been injured and at Leicester game they were decimated,
01:42players coming back from illness, some players still out ill and it's just the kind of game
01:47for personal reasons. So I think overall maybe in isolation might have been a decent point,
01:53but when Everton are going ahead in games and conceding then, they couldn't really get any
01:58real impetus back after they'd gone ahead, even though they are creating chances.
02:04So I think you're looking at this Palace game and I think Everton do really need three points
02:07in this one. Crystal Palace have struggled themselves at the start of the season and
02:13maybe Albert Glaston's not getting too far ahead despite the finish to the Atlas campaign.
02:21Palace have come into good, you'd like to think it needs to be three points. If it's not three
02:25points then unfortunately, and Sean's eyes shall know this, the pressure will increase on them from
02:31the fan base. There already are detractors among the fan base. So we'll see with these two games
02:40coming up. Palace and then I think it's Newcastle, two big games, two winnable games. I have to say
02:45Newcastle have had a fantastic start themselves after getting beat by Fulham last week. So there
02:52are some mitigating factors and ultimately it's up to Sean's eyes to remedy what's going on.
