01:00What, Bunyip, are you doing?
01:04Just fishing, until your intrusion.
01:06She laughed at Weedy's slight confusion.
01:09But not for wombats, me old mate.
01:11I was digging worms for bait.
01:14Why don't you spend the day with me?
01:17Where it's gloomy, I can see.
01:19Far from sunlight, rain and thunder,
01:21Come exploring in Down Under.
01:25So Bunyip, ready for some fun,
01:27Turned her back upon the sun,
01:29Down into the depths infernal,
01:31Entering a world nocturnal.
01:35Until the Bunyip's eyes adjusted to the gloom,
01:37She felt quite flustered.
01:39Then, quite close, the wombat snuffled,
01:41Though the sound was rather muffled.
01:43I'm looking out for something special.
01:45Don't know yet,
01:47But then I guess I'll know it when it does appear.
01:50I think that it is pretty near.
01:53And presently the couple found
01:55A mighty cavern underground,
01:57Filled with stalactites and mites,
01:59One of the world's most wondrous sights.
02:02The stalagmites grow from the ground.
02:04Actites are on the seedlings found.
02:07They really seem like best bone china.
02:10I think nothing could be finer,
02:12Thought the Bunyip with a ting.
02:15Can this be wombat's special thing?
02:18But no, the wombat pressed ahead,
02:20As further down the hole they sped,
02:22Until they came to a vast lake,
02:24Sparkled like a cake,
02:26Lit by glow-worms burning brightly,
02:28Just as they do in summer, nightly.
02:31Thought Bunyip,
02:33Can this really be the special thing,
02:35This inland sea?
02:38But no, onwards,
02:40And so intrepid the couple sped,
02:42And now more rapid,
02:44As their path, both left and right,
02:46Was lit by coloured flashing light.
02:48It looks as if the rock's on fire!
02:50Bunyip couldn't but admire.
02:52Oh my, it's opal, shouted she.
02:56I wish Miss Bowerbird could see.
03:00This is the thing you want, I bet.
03:04But wombat muttered,
03:06No, not yet.
03:08Around a corner shone a shaft,
03:10Of solid moonlight.
03:12Bunyip laughed.
03:14This must be it.
03:16Whisper the will of a solid seam,
03:18Of shining silver.
03:20Passed some stones,
03:22And some ancient fossil bones.
03:24And then gasped Bunyip,
03:26Oh, how splendid!
03:28Now I know our quest has ended.
03:30Not these bones so very old,
03:32But this, it is the purest gold.
03:36Aha, said wombat,
03:38Eyes aglowing, and with that,
03:40He started throwing nuggets,
03:42Big and fat and golden, all around,
03:44Like they were molten.
03:46Bunyip thought this rather strange,
03:48Until the wombat with some gravity said,
03:50Come here and admire my cavity.
03:54And Bunyip saw the excavation
03:56Had become a revelation.
03:58Where was gold was now a dome.
04:00There, said wombat,
04:02My new home.
04:04I'll put the armchair here,
04:06Said he,
04:08And over there,
04:10The new TV,
04:12The bed in here.
04:14He gave a push,
04:16To show the bush.
04:18Daylight streamed in,
04:20The Bunyip sighed.
04:22This is what I want,
04:24She cried.
04:26Imagine Bunyip's great surprise.
04:28She had to rub and rub her eyes.
04:30She had returned to home and fishing,
04:32But from the can, the worms were missing.
04:34What a long way home,
04:36It's naught but Weedy Wombat's famous shortcut.
04:40Ah, well, said wombat,
04:42You can't say we didn't come
04:44The pretty way.
