00:00In central Nepal, a big rescue operation is underway.
00:04Anxious Nepalese watch workers clear the mud which has buried part of this mountain road
00:09as they search for anyone who might have survived the deadly landslide after a weekend of heavy
00:15rainfall across the country.
00:17We've been doing rescue work since yesterday.
00:21Police personnel from Dadi and Kathmandu are in coordination with our other security organisations
00:27who are conducting rescue work continuously.
00:32The capital of Nepal was cut off as landslides blocked roads leading in and out of Kathmandu.
00:38At least three buses stuck in traffic were buried on a highway south of the city, killing
00:44dozens.
00:45In the city centre, local vendors clean up what remains of their businesses after the
00:49Bagmati River flowing through Kathmandu broke its banks, damaging shops located nearby.
00:56We can't see right now how much loss has been incurred, but there are at least 400 shops
01:03here.
01:04The 400 shops have suffered a loss of at least 10 million rupees, that's 70,000 euros.
01:16The southern part of Kathmandu was hit particularly hard by flooding, with many residents evacuated
01:22on rafts or wading through waste deep water.
01:26As the weather has calmed down and authorities have stepped up their rescue and recovery
01:31operations, the Nepalese government announced temporary shelters would be built for those
01:35who lost their homes and financial aid given to the families of those killed.
01:40Schools will close across the country at least for the next three days.
