00:00The fire in Tondo, Manila lasted only 30 minutes, but 6 people were lost,

00:06including a pregnant woman and 6 pregnant children.

00:10This is Isaiah Mirafentes' story.

00:14Until now, it seems like a bad omen for the Balisno family of Tondo, Manila.

00:216 members of their family, including 2 children and 1 pregnant woman,

00:28were in the scene of the fire in Barangay 25, Zone 2, Tondo.

00:34Within 30 minutes, the house was on fire, and 6 people lost their lives.

00:42It's painful. It's painful. It's very painful.

00:48Not a single person was left behind, not even a single child.

00:54No one was left behind.

00:57I told my children, my grandchildren, that I will be the first to leave, not you.

01:03Why were you the first to leave?

01:06In the video captured by the neighbors of the victims,

01:10you can still hear the cries of one of the victims.

01:18We are now behind the house of the Balisno family that was burned down.

01:22Here, on the second floor of their house, the fire started,

01:26and all 6 victims were trapped on the third floor.

01:30The youngest of the victims was 6 months pregnant,

01:34and the other child was only 2 years pregnant.

01:39The 4-month-old child was also burned alive.

01:43My children hugged my grandchildren,

01:47so that they wouldn't get hurt.

01:51They hugged each other, like a family.

01:56One of my nieces also hugged her,

02:01but she didn't want to come out.

02:0611 people were left inside the house,

02:09and some were lucky to be saved

02:12because they were able to sleep on the first floor of the house.

02:16Two people were injured in the fire,

02:19including one of their children who slept on the fourth floor,

02:24but he jumped from the rooftop.

02:27Based on the initial investigation,

02:29the fire was caused by a firecracker.

02:33And according to the survivors,

02:35the mattresses, curtains, and backpacks

02:40were placed on the second floor where the fire started,

02:43which was the reason for the quick spread of the fire.

02:48Meanwhile, there were no other houses and families affected by the fire.

02:53Now, the survivors are being forced to get up from the tragedy

02:59and take a break.
