00:14She was arrested.

00:18A judge, who was married to her, gave her a remand and sent her to jail.

00:24This is what happens to 80 year old women in this country.

00:28In this country, only those are allowed to protest,

00:33whom the government considers worthy of protest,

00:36or who can protest in their opinion.

00:40In the last few days, there has been a lot of talk about women's dignity.

00:44There should be no need for statements on it.

00:48People should be brought up from home.

00:50But our country is unfortunate, that we have to tell the basic facts.

00:55We should respect women.

00:57Mothers and sisters are our partners.

00:59There are examples of this in our politics.

01:01How a daughter was arrested in front of her father.

01:05How a sister was arrested on a moonlit night.

01:09Where is the respect for women?

01:11These people have no morals.

01:14This is true, but now I have realized,

01:17that this respect is only for important and powerful women.

01:23It is everyone's duty to respect them.

01:25If we arrest them, there will be a ruckus in the parliament.

01:28There will be headlines in the newspapers.

01:30There will be a ruckus in the society.

01:32The self-respect of these important and powerful women.

01:36Because what we have seen in the last two years in this country,

01:41How women, like Roshan Bibi,

01:45who was arrested on a weekday while protesting.

01:48We have seen before,

01:50how women were misbehaved in their homes.

01:52How they were abused.

01:54I remember the day,

01:56when a police officer pointed a gun at a woman on the street.

01:59But if she is not the daughter or wife of an important person,

02:04then no one says anything.

02:06If this woman was the mother or sister of an important person,

02:11then there would be a lesson in morality in this country.

02:13There are many press conferences on the importance of women and mothers.

02:17Someone would shout at someone and be disrespectful.

02:20He would taunt that if you want to fight, then come and fight with men.

02:23But there is a strange silence in the city.

02:26There is a wonderful silence.

02:28Because she is not our mother or sister.
