Vicki Jellie speaks to The Standard about why she's running for the Warrnambool City Council.
Transcript
00:00Hello, I'm Vicky Jelly and I'm standing for Platypus Park Ward in the Warrnambool City Council elections that are happening at the moment.
00:10I've been a current councillor for the last four years and
00:15I've really enjoyed that time working with the community. We've had a very stable
00:21collegiate group of councillors
00:23So that's really good. And I think it'd be great to have some continuation
00:28of some current councillors on the council going forward for some stability and some growth. So I'm
00:36really
00:38hopeful that I will be able to get back on the council and
00:42Platypus Ward very much interests me. I'm a long-standing Warrnambool resident and a former resident of
00:48West Warrnambool. So I've got a lot of interests out there.
00:52And what are the three priorities for council?
00:56Well for Platypus Park, there's a lot of priorities. There's a lot of things out there.
01:01There's actually a secondary school, two primary schools, a couple of kindergartens, child care, a hospital and an aged care facility
01:09along with a lot of
01:11businesses and community groups out there. So there's a lot of things going on out there.
01:17It's an older area and we need to keep up with the infrastructure and listen to the people out there as to what they want.
01:24Good footpaths, safety for children and our aged care community, our aged community. So looking forward to
01:32working with the community out there and running some great programs in the new West Warrnambool Neighbourhood House.
