Transcript
00:00I'm Matthew Walsh and I'm running for the Poteau board.
00:03And what are the priorities that you've got for the position?
00:07So my priorities are around community engagement is a big one.
00:11I think that there's more that we can do to engage the community in some of the decision
00:15making.
00:16I think transparency is a big, big, big part of what I'm really about.
00:21I think transparency is really key and I feel like that people maybe don't feel like they
00:26get their say as much as they should.
00:29So I'm really keen to support as much of that as I can, meeting with people, you know, set
00:34up regular sessions, whether it's down the beach or in town, just really, really start
00:39to talk to the people and make sure that I'm really available.
00:42You know, run a social media page that provides people with as much updates as possible about
00:47what's happening within the four walls of the council.
00:50And what made you want to run?
00:53I think it's time for the next generation, the younger generation of Warrnambool to step
00:57up and really take the lead on the direction.
00:59I feel like there's a lot of sameness that's happened within council over the last, the
01:05last at least, you know, eight or so years.
01:07It's the same people, you know, it's a common thread, business owners and such that are
01:12putting their hand up.
01:13I think it's time for that next generation to really stick their hand up and really take
01:17the lead of the direction.
01:18I think the direction that we're going could be improved.
01:22I think there's lots of opportunities.
