The child of Wales awards celebrates children of all kinds across Wales, and showcases their achievements and determination, often in particularly difficult circumstances. Children with life altering illnesses, disabilities and those who’ve made significant contributions to their community, we went down and chatted to some of the celebs.

00:00It's my favourite night of the year. It's actually my third year presenting the awards
00:06this year and I keep coming back because you're just surrounded by incredible young people
00:11every year. I sit down in the week and I read the stories and I watch the videos and I'm
00:15an absolute bit. But I always realise it's not tears of sorrow or sadness, it's actually
00:21tears of joy, of inspiration. What I can never get my head around is people so young are
00:28able to take on so much adversity and then turn that into something positive in that
00:32community and that's what tonight celebrates. Yeah, it is amazing and the things that Child
00:37of Wales do for young people is absolutely phenomenal. So the work going on everywhere
00:42all around the country, you know, we're here to support it as well as have a good time
00:45but also of course remember the main reason why we're here is to raise some money. So
00:49often Wales is mentioned as a footnote, an afterthought, you know, an addendum type thing
00:57and it's very England centric. So to be here and to celebrate the work that's going on
01:03in this country, especially with children, the future, I think is vital. Yeah, it's very
01:09very amazing. I've read some of the stories of the children and they're just incredible
01:12human beings to be honest, what they've done. So their feats and some bravery and it's incredible
01:16and yeah, it's really humbling actually to be honest and I've done lots of events over
01:20the last say eight months, some amazing events but this is probably the one I'm most nervous
01:24of being and also the most privileged to be at. I've been looking forward to this for
01:28such a long time since Blanche asked me to come here. I've been so looking forward to
01:31my diary so nothing was going to stop me from being here tonight. You know, what people
01:36are going through, you know, people go through some hard things in life and you know, our
01:44problems are so much nothing really when you realise what people are actually going through.
01:49So it's so inspiring what so many people are going through and how they're battling on
01:53with their life. So yeah, I'm just happy to be a part of it.
