00:00Hello, my name is Amber Allitt, and I'm a journalist specializing in education.
00:04It's been a while now since this year's skill leavers found out how they did in their A-level
00:09exams, where the number of top A-star grades awarded actually rose a little bit on last
00:13year.
00:14This has given us the time to take a bit of a closer look into some of the data, including
00:19how students did by county rather than just region.
00:22On this note, we've decided to look at some of the highest performers when it comes to
00:26A-star grades awarded, when compared to the total number of A-levels sat.
00:31In first place was Rutland in the East Midlands, with 15.2%.
00:36This is an amazing achievement, but it is worth noting that Rutland had a fairly low
00:40number of entries overall, about 1400 results total.
00:46Next is Surrey, which achieved an incredible rate of 12.7% A-stars for its 26,000 results,
00:53while East Sussex came in close behind with a rate of 12.6 A-stars for about 12,500 results.
01:01Now these results are quite interesting because they're somewhat different than what you see
01:05when you look at the highest performing regions overall.
01:09When it comes to entire regions and how many A's and A-stars they got overall, the East
01:14Midlands actually has the lowest score at just 22.5%, even though it's home to Rutland.
01:21Greater London was the overall regional winner for A-stars and A's, but when it's rated only
01:27by its top A-star grades as a county, it only came in 9th place overall.
