00:00Mary Ann Maslog was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation

00:04for one of the 24 million pesos textbook scam cases in 1998.

00:10Maslog was the agent of a publishing company

00:13that was sponsored by the Department of Education, Culture, and Sports, or DECS,

00:18to supply textbooks.

00:20The two DECS officials were charged with 10 years in prison

00:27for processing and approving contracts for other picking documents.

00:32In 2019, Maslog's lawyer declared and presented evidence

00:37that he was already dead, so he was not jailed.

00:40On September 25, the NBI received a complaint

00:44against a Jessica Francisco.

00:47In the investigation, it was found that there was only one person,

00:50Mary Ann Maslog and Jessica Francisco,

00:53due to the match of their fingerprints.

00:56Maslog was immediately arrested, but before the NBI released him,

01:01a bench warrant came from the National Bureau of Investigation

01:04that said that Maslog was arrested.

01:07This was questioned by Maslog's camp because the warrant was just a photocopy.
