00:00Meanwhile, the poll body, in its mission to ensure a free, fair and transparent midterm

00:05elections next year, took it upon itself earlier today to reject the applications for candidacy

00:11of three individuals seeking leadership posts over veritable conflict of interest issues.

00:17A number of familiar faces showed up today to throw their hats in the ring for next year's

00:22democratic exercise, to include staunch disciples of the former president seeking re-election,

00:29a renowned and ailing doctor of the masses represented by his better half, and nine party

00:35list groups that our Joshua Garcia documented in this report.

00:41On the third day of filing certificates of candidacy for the 2025 national and local

00:46elections at Manila Hotel, Tent City, the Commission on Elections announced that one

00:50of the three partners in the joint venture with Miro System, which will supply machines

00:54and other peripherals for the election, has withdrawn.

00:57According to the Commission, they received information that some individuals connected

01:00to St. Timothy Construction Company are allegedly running for local and national elections.

01:05The Commission decided to immediately take action on this matter.

01:08Two choices only, and we conveyed that message.

01:11One, that that particular partner will have to withdraw from the joint venture, or number

01:17two, we might be compelled to, in the interest of ensuring a clean, orderly and honest election,

01:26we will be compelled to disqualify certain candidates because we honestly believe that

01:32that will be what we call as conflict of interest.

01:37The Commission did not seem the individuals connected to such company out of respect for

01:40their privacy, as they have not yet filed their candidacy.

01:43The poll body further explained this is intended to protect the integrity of the election process

01:48in the country.

01:49The

02:17Commission is not worried, believing the remaining partners can fulfill the obligations

02:21stipulated in the contract.

02:23And to ensure there will be no issues from here on, the NBank is continuously studying

02:27the agreements with the remaining partners to address any possible gaps that may arise

02:31due to the withdrawal of the joint venture partner.

02:33On the third day of filing COCs for the 2025 elections, 21 candidates submitted their documents,

02:3912 for Santor and four for Partylist Groups.

02:42Notable personalities who filed include re-electionist Santors Bong Go and Bato de la Rosa, aspiring

02:46Senator Philip Salvador, and Mayor Miguel Ike Ponce III of Pateros City.

02:50Dr. Lisa Ong, wife of Dr. Willie Ong, also filed and turned emotional during the event.

02:55Ryan Paul Yemanzadeh, son of Senator Grace Poe, filed as the first nominee of FPJ-Panday-Bayanihan-Partylist.

03:09In total, 34 candidates today filed for a Senate seat and 44 Partylist representation

03:14since the start of COC filing.

03:16The process has remained generally peaceful across the country with no incidents reported.
