00:07That's why some groups have called on the Department of Agriculture to focus on the emergence of an emergency use authorization of the ASF vaccine

00:30have been vaccinated. The Department of Agriculture has registered 70% of the antibody against the ASF

00:37from the blood collected from the vaccinated pigs.

00:40The result is good. At least for the first month of vaccination,

00:47many pigs developed antibodies.

00:52Scientifically, it means that the vaccine is effective.

00:58Hopefully, this will continue to be the basis of the FDA to continue to have commercial approval.

01:09From 458 barangays affected by ASF in August,

01:14534 cases of ASF were reported in the month of October.

01:18So with the help of the DA to some groups of pigs breeders,

01:23Agriculture Secretary Francisco T. Laurel Jr. was asked to convince President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

01:31to approve the emergency use authorization of the ASF vaccine from Vietnam

01:36instead of a monitored release given by the FDA to the supplier of the vaccine.

01:41The emergency use authorization is a mechanism to facilitate the availability

01:46and use of medical countermeasures including vaccines.

01:51This was also done when COVID-19 broke out

01:54to stop the use of unapproved vaccines to speed up the spread of the virus.

02:01The DA will study this.

02:03But it was decided that only the President can declare a national emergency.

02:09For the agricultural industry, the vaccination should not be done easily.

02:15The ASF vaccine must be effective and safe.

02:20If we keep on pushing it, it will not be explained to the farmers what the protocol is.
