A young man is fighting for life and four other people have been injured after a car allegedly drove into a group of people outside a pub in Port Elliot in the early hours of this morning. The driver, a 37-year-old man, has been charged over the alleged incident and has been refused bail.

00:28A 22-year-old man from Hindmarsh Island was flown to Flinders Medical Centre suffering life-threatening injuries.
00:35Four other people were treated in hospital for minor injuries.
00:39Police are investigating the circumstances of the alleged incident.
00:43The investigation is still trying to determine exactly what occurred outside of the hotel.
00:47There was clearly an altercation that occurred, but what happened after that altercation is obviously completely unacceptable.
00:56Police say the suspect, a 37-year-old man, initially left the scene but returned a short time later,
01:02was arrested and has now been charged with causing harm by dangerous driving,
01:06driving without due care and leaving the scene of a crash.
01:10They are very serious charges, hence why the male has been refused bail.
01:14The main street here has now reopened to the public and for most traders it's business as usual on a busy long weekend Saturday.
01:22But there are still some remnants of what transpired here in the early hours of this morning.
01:27The driver will face court on Tuesday.
